This place is like a dream! Mrs Yvonne is absolutely fabulous and extremely kind. If you're not following her on Facebook, you really should. They have the most chic and fashionable items and then there's the dresses and hats. They're another level everyone. I bought an amazing coat/jacket and it's my go-to item for the season in Ohio. I know for their dresses they offer free alterations so that's extremely valuable and what a great service? They also offer gift wrapping in store which really and truly helps with half the battle when buying gifts I think. read more

I've been shopping here for years. Yvonne is there if the store is open, and she loves to walk you through and make suggestions for you! I always ship home (it saves tax and my suitcases don't get overloaded) and when the box arrives it feels like Christmas morning. Yes, there are expensive things, but there are also very reasonable pieces. And her stock is unique...and there is plenty of it. One of these days I'm actually going to buy a ball gown here. As a bonus, she will measure you and make a dress to your own measurements. She has St. John knit fabrics she purchased when St. John was sold and changed their focus. Ms. Yvonne was a dream to work with. She gave my daughter poise and etiquette tips as she tried on dresses. She was extremely complimentary of her final decision. BUT if you're from out of town don't fall for the free alterations gimmick. They do not accept Saturday fittings even if it's for a simple hem. They expect you to miss work and school to drive to New Orleans for a weekday fitting. When we purchased the dress we were told getting a fitting wouldn't be a problem and to wait closer to the event bc of Mardi Gras balls and things they had going on. When I called to make the appointment (one month before the event) for a simple hem, I was told there were no Saturdays and there wasn't enough time unless we drove into New Orleans on Lundi Gras. read more

I visited this shop after seeing it on social media and being impressed with the quality of the merchandise and Yvonne's elegant personality. Unfortunately, social media does not reflect reality. Yvonne was very rude to my friends and I the entire time we were in the store and seemed bothered by us asking simple questions. She was dismissive, irritated and stared at us as if we were planning on stealing her merchandise. Most of us are minorities and I have a few tattoos, which she also stared at. While we were browsing, a couple white women entered and Yvonne rushed to greet and help them. I am only giving two stars because the rest of the employees were very helpful. I would give zero stars if I could! Immediately upon entering I knew we should have left. The entire staff got quiet and glared at over us. One woman was kinda nice & helped some. The older woman with the dyed black hair was extremely rude to my friend looking for something for an event. stating they did not have plus sized "they only had normal sized clothes in a section" my friend said she was normal sized and we just left. The place is outdated smells like moth balls and just all around not a great experience. Ok, this store is amazing. Here is how you know, I was there many years ago for a medical convention, bought some cute things and 3 amazing hats. Not only did they fit me, they added flowers and netting to make them even more fabulous. Fast forward 4 years later, I have been attending polo matches in Florida and pulled them out of their boxes and they are still gorgeous and I get so many compliments. This place is crazy. I hope you like the way her perfume smells because the whole place is drenched in it. Yvonne looks like a wax figure. They have lingerie, ball gowns and couture clothes. Some clothes have been sitting on the racks since the 1980's with the big puffy sleeves and ruffles. Other clothes are contemporary but priced around $500 for a sweater. the wedding dresses are hung from the ceiling which is pretty cool but ALL ballgown styles.. To the staff - Did you attend my daughter's graduation?? Did you notice she was not wearing the dress we bought from your store? She couldn't wear it because of the atrocious job you did on alterations. It was simply not wearable. I was so happy to have to go buy a new dress a week before her special day. To potential shoppers - JUST DON'T!!!!!! This store is riding on a reputation built years ago that it is no longer worthy of. They make promises they can't keep. All they want is the sale. The alterations staff is awful and they don't listen to what you want. The owner was present and aware of the issues yet did nothing. The sales girl loves to make excuses. We were so happy when we purchased/ordered the dress. The end result was a train wreck. And, if you think This is an isolated incident, I wish I could tell you that is true. However, I can point to at least 6 other girls in my daughter's class who had issues with dress purchases and/or alterations at this store. They lost the order for one dress!! I hope this review will save someone else from the tears, stress and heartache my daughter endured during what should be a happy time. read more

I came to the store looking for white leather gloves for a cotillon, and left gloveless and offended. Yvonne first told me that I was "too athletic" to ever fit into white leather gloves, and that I would be unable to find a pair for my coming out. I asked if she could then help me measure my arm to try and find a pair online (which she told me was unlikely), and she was 4 inches off in measuring my upper arm. Once we found another source, I was able to get gloves that fit perfectly, insult free. read more

I've been visiting this shop since I was a child. I adore walking through and eyeing the gowns and feathers and hats. It's like a dream. I was very excited to visit the store while looking for my wedding dress. The sales staff treats every woman like a queen. Sometimes they overly adore everything that you put on, but it's still fun. After visiting many dress shops, I had to stop at Yvonne's one more time. When I did I noticed a new dress hanging on the wall. The dress ended up being perfect for me. I knew it and so did everyone else. The staff was very accommodating with alteration appointments. I wanted to take a little bit in at the waist and the seamstress said it would be too tight. I was thinking, "This is my wedding dress. It's supposed to fit like a glove." The sales associate, Stella, agreed. She told the seamstress that it must be taken in. I was happy, and the fit was perfect. Yvonne fluttered around during each visit that I had, and she was always kind and helpful. When I picked up my dress from a second steam pressing, she stopped me at the door and gave me marriage advice. It was heartfelt and made my day. read more

Not only is this shop located in one of my FAVORITE parts of uptown, but it carries some of the most gorgeous dresses I have ever laid eyes on. If you need a dress for a special occasion (and you have a few bucks) this should be the first place you look. Now that it's the season for Carnival balls, their window is dressed with gorgeous sparkly treats that I can only dream of being able to afford and having somewhere special enough to wear. Yvonne LaFleur in New Orleans is the worst bridal boutique shop i have ever dealt with in the country. Their dresses are not private label. They just buy SubPar Brand B dresses, rip out the labels, then put their own in, and then upcharge you for it. Furthermore, if you are bigger than a Size 0 they will imply you are fat! And an uneducated 18 year old will sarcastically call you "darling" and care more about your credit card than you as a customer. Brides - do you and your bridesmaids and bridal party a favor - boycott and stay away from Yvonne LaFleur! What a RIPOFF! If pay top dollar for bridesmaid dress - then you expect a Tier 1 dress with Tier 1 Customer Service. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! This is South! Where is the SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY? read more

What a gem! I've been to thousands of boutiques, but this experience was by far my favorite. In town for a long weekend we came to check out this store and we were not disappointed. Yvonne carries a gorgeous selection- from robes, a custom millenary section, wedding dresses that hang from the ceiling, and all kinds of ready to wear in between. The attention to detail in this shop is unmatched and the personable staff was a lovely touch. Upon crossing the threshold of this shop you'll be transported into a world where debutante balls regularly appear on patron social calenders. The store is divided into three sections: bridal, ladies apparel and the proprietor's signature perfume. The fragrance brings to mind the gentility of a time gone by with one last storefront as an outpost in the present. Ms. La Fleur herself gave this Yankee tourist the full Southern Belle treatment as she handpicked items from the hundreds of garments custom made and styled for her line of formal frocks and everyday garden party wear. We decided on two dresses (one Marilyn Monroe inspired chiffon number and a black and white bold floral patterned silk dress perfect for both formal events and both day and evening weddings) and a matching white cardigan which I had the foresight to buy two. My purchases were pinned to be tailored on the spot and were waiting for me when I returned home in beautifully wrapped boxes. It was a shopping experience like no other. Yvonne, yvonne. The woman herself is a living attraction -- oozing Southern propriety, quick with a compliment, but also terrifying. I made a half dozen trips to Yvonne La Fleur over the course of prepping for my wedding, and every time I'd get a nervous stomach in anticipation of the visit. First impression upon entering store: Immediate headache, lightheaded. The store is DRENCHED in Yvonne's signature perfume. Not a great start. But when I was lead into the back bridal room, the scent of perfume was overpowered by the sight of hundreds of beautiful dresses hanging from the ceiling. Impressive. The selection was incredible. There were many unique dresses, unlike anything I'd seen at any other salons. Immediately, i fell in love with a few dresses, and was pleased that the price was actually within my budget. (Oddly, the wedding dresses seemed relatively affordable, but nothing else in the store is.) Unfortunately, YLF has a antiquated policy that they don't allow photos. In the age of cell phones, 95% of bridal shops allow photos. My cell phone was full of photos of various gowns i was deciding between. For me, my mom and MOH are both hundreds of miles away, so it was really frustrating to not be able to send them pics of the dress that i ultimately fell in love with (and bought). I returned months later for my fitting. They gave my friend and I champagne, and I tried my dress on for the first time and it was a really awesome moment. I was interested in buying a veil, so the employee brought me a few to try on. At this point, Yvonne appeared and basically shut down the appointment, so that another client could use the full length mirror. I'd been there for all of 15 minutes, for an appointment i'd booked a week in advance, and I was at that point trying on a $600 veil and had already dropped 2k on a dress. But Yvonne made me feel like some sort of street urchin who was taking precious mirror time away from another customer, so I was shuttled away and the appointment abruptly ended. Interesting sales technique. It was very awkward. I had blue hair at the time, so I suspect that may have had something to do with the way that I was treated. I definitely was not passing as "high society!" Alterations are included in the price of the dress, but I wasn't thrilled with the job that was done. After returning twice, the dress was still loose around the hips and thighs, which doesn't work on a mermaid style dress. Finally, I took the dress to Alterations by Gerry. She did a fabulous job, made the dress fit perfectly and finished the job in no time. She also showed me how to bustle my dress, something YLF never bothered to do. This takes me to the vibe of YLF. In sum, I felt very tense around the staff. They were quick with compliments, but they didn't seem genuine. As soon as I questioned something, they became very cold and defensive. I felt like I didn't belong there. The day I purchased the dress, I skyped my mom in so she could see the dress i was about to buy. Sorry, screw but the "no phones" policy. I'm buying my freaking wedding dress and I want my mom to see it. Yvonne came in and was NOT HAPPY. F that. Yvonne, you have my business and my credit card number. Let my mom see me in my wedding dress!! There was no one else in the boutique at the time, so it's not like i was being disruptive. I will say that Madison, who helped me out repeatedly during my visits, was always genuine, pleasant and helpful. I love my wedding dress, and I think that Yvonne La Fleur is a fascinating bit of New Orleans' cultural heritage. But I'm happy that I never have to set foot in that place again. read more

My daughter found a lovely dress for graduation, but wanted to think it over. We were leaving at closing and I was told by the OWNER herself that they would hold the dress for us, put it in a separate area from the other dresses, and that we could call on Monday to confirm. Well, it's Monday, and I just called and was told that they SOLD the dress!! The dress they assured me they were holding! The woman on the phone told me that their policy is to hold it until the end of the day. I told her that her boss herself told me that she would hold it on Monday, since we were leaving right at 6pm as they closed on Saturday. Monday means Monday. Therefore, the "end of the day" should be the end of the day MONDAY. Despite the fact that they had our contact information no one called to report the mistake to us. I KNOW that they realized because the stylist we were working with immediately started to explain what happened the second I introduced myself on the phone. Also, I did not like being hovered over by the MASKLESS owner while I was there. I would not recommend this shop. Do yourself a favor and read the other poor reviews. Stay away. read more

They would compliment you for EVERY single freaking dress you put on hoping that they could seal the deal asap as if you were an ass!!!! just a rule of thumb, if you go to a store and you are complimented on every single item you try on, you can't trust them anymore. This place is possibly the worst place I've ever been in. Went looking for a wedding dress. The entire place smells like a bottle of your grandmothers perfume spilled and drenched you. And feels as if you're in your grandmothers closet. After you pick out your gowns, they put you in a very tiny cluttered room to try in on. They're very unfriendly and a few times even snapped at my mom and told her to get out of the way when she was looking at a dress I was trying on. They won't let you take a picture of you have a gown on, so even when I found one I liked I couldn't send to my MOH out of state for her opinion. Worst of all, she takes the designer tag out of each dress and sews an Yvonne tag in, passing it off as her own design. Do yourself a favor and go to town and country or wedding bells and steer clear of here. read more
