It was dark and I foolishly left my wallet with money and all my credit cards on top of the gas pump. I didn't realize I had done so until I got home over 2 hours later, after fighting some nasty ice precipitation that started a 2 day storm. I called to inquire if anyone at the gas station had found my wallet and to my absolute relief, they had! As it was too late to return that night, the cashier said they would hold the wallet until I was able to pick it up. I drove back the next morning and retrieved my wallet, all contents intact. I attempted to give the cashier on duty that morning a reward, but she refused. The manager also refused to permit a reward, stating something to the effect of it was just the right thing to do. I just wanted to publicly acknowledge their kindness and frankly, my gratitude, as in today's culture, that act was an exception to the standards of behavior and courtesy that are usually displayed. I have stopped at this Mobil station multiple times over the years while traveling, and will certainly continue to do so with a new appreciation for their management and staff.
