The installer from closet by design attempted…read moreto repair holes in the wall after removing the old closet rails with spackle creating damage to the walls now requiring a full repair of the attempted repair of spackle applied. A painter came out and he gave us an estimate of $1894.05 to repair the damage and paint the walls caused by the Closet by Design employee/installer. The manager of Closet by Design came to our home to look at the damage and offered to try to clean the spackle with a Home Depot bucket and water which did not work. The painter that came out outlined the only way to fix the issue in his scope of work, which requires sanding, repair, texture and paint. Closets by Design refussed this proposal. The final offer from them is to come back with their Home Depot bucket and water and try again. The professional painters estimate outlines the correct way to repair the damage. Closet by Design now refuses to correct the damage to a professional standard- Contract language- Terms and Conditions- Closets by Design does not paint or repair walls. Closets by Design is not responsible for damage to walls, floors, or ceilings caused by demolition or tear out or your existing closets. Repair work on walls, plater, painting, floor finishing is the responsibility of the client. The contract also states, if you (client) want to patch and paint before installation, the required tear out and patching and painting must be done at least 48 hours before installation to ensure all surfaces are dry and ready (we did not due this, and Closets by Design did the removal of the previous rails). We just want the damaged repaired to a professional standard that they created. They should of not tried to repair the walls which created a bigger issue for repair. What should of been simple small holes that we could fill in with a color match fill left after instalation, now requires a full wall repair.

After discussing for a while, she just left, having made more of a mess than was there before. I am including the "after" photo. Update: I got an email from the CEO threatening me for this review. It's unfortunate that her employee was upset with our appointment too. I stopped her to understand what her plan was and explain my needs, so that we weren't wasting our time. I'm sorry that my feedback hurt her feelings. My harshest feedback to her was, "I understand your piles, but I don't see how they are helpful," and "there are a lot of piles here - at some point they become superfluous." I have nothing against her employee. She seemed like a nice person. But I didn't see that her method was meaningful, and her explanation was only "this is my training" so I continued to not understand her plan, and I pressed to find out more, because I genuinely wanted her help. I tried to explain that all I wanted was someone to sit with me and say "do you need to keep this?" But she told me that her way was to make a bunch of piles, leave for 30 min so I could decide what to get rid of by myself, and then come back and put the leftovers away. I told her that if she did that, I would just feel overwhelmed and probably not do anything. So she told me she couldn't help. As she got up to leave, I even said, "ok we can do it your way. I'll try to trust you. Please don't leave me with this mess." But she left anyway. I wasn't going to even write a review until I realized she had scattered my sentimental box in an unfixable way. When I realized that, I cried. I had told her I wanted to work together, but she had refused, and if we had worked together in the first place, she wouldn't have destroyed the one thing that really mattered to me. It was a bad day for all involved. The CEO says I am a "bully" for articulating my needs, but I don't think my expectations were unreasonable. I wanted to go thru things together, and have the organizer be gently present as I made decisions about letting go. The organizer wanted to sort things herself and have me make decisions alone. Because anyone can come into a strangers home and throw things out, or donate them. But Linda came recommended for a reason.
