Cute little gift shop with a variety of finds from the young to the old, styles and taste. Fun quirky items for anyone on your list. Stationary, socks, toys, local crafted jewelry, bags, perfumes, air diffusers, small items for the home, pins/buttons, etc

Dream In Plastic is a super happy fun time store full of great gift ideas for that special quirky someone in your life (or if that person is yourself...as I am). It started as an online shop but found a home in Beacon, NY in August 2009 by long-time friends Diana & Jenny. They bring their love of vinyl toys, art, funky accessories and more to the masses. I have recently rediscovered my love for Lomography and DIP has everything you need for you Holga & Diana freaks. They are big supporters of local artists and will feature local talent on the walls of the shop. Between the cameras they have for sale and all the Munny figures ready to be painted, Dream In Plastic is a terrific place that caters to the kid in all of us.

Here are those unnecessarily complicated "-ish" hours.

Just a really good store to check out if you are in Beacon and have time to kill. They have awesome knick knacks and toys of all sorts.

I'm not sure how such a place can exist, but it made me feel very hopeful about the potential of humanity.

I usually see the brands they carry scattered across many chain retail stores but at Dream in Plastic it's all in one place!

So I just had a very interesting experience at Echo. I'm here visiting from the city for my mini…read morevacation and kept hearing rave reviews about this place. The family I'm staying with also suggested I check it out. It's my last day here and I wanted to check it out before I left because I heard they have really cool old school toys (which I collect), cool clothes, and bras in my size! I waited until they were open but no one was there so I decided to walk around and come back a little later. Upon entering I was not greeted. Not a big deal though because I can be pretty shy and wanted to browse around. I soon felt uncomfortable; like I wasn't welcome but I brushed it off. It's a feeling POC unfortunately often feel when they're shopping in unfamiliar areas or shops. I wanted to give the woman at the register the benefit of the doubt. I found a cool harmonica that I wanted to gift my boyfriend but was being indecisive about what else to get I remembered the bras! I went to check them out and then I stumbled upon the sale section and that's when the woman at the register basically ran up on me. She said to let her know if I needed help with anything. It was completely bizarre because it was clear she came over just to see what I was doing. There were a few other people in there and she passed by them and didn't ask them if they needed anything. It was so clear in my mind that she thought I was trying to steal that dumb ass harmonica or anything from that janky store. The bras were overpriced, the clothes were honestly hideous and not for anyone under the age of 40. The toys and books were ok but nothing really jumped out at me. Except this woman. It was a very uncomfortable experience and when I went to pay for the items (yes I got the damn harmonicas) she gave me full on attitude. No smile, very condescending "you're welcome" after I thanked her. Just all around bad attitude as if she was the one being followed. I would beware if you are a POC. I didn't get the woman's name but she was probably a SWF, pudgy and had dark hair.

I saw a sign out front for bra fittings today. I am so happy I stopped by. Christina, I believe was…read moreher name, was extremely helpful. I was wearing completely the wrong size and it was amazing what the difference was once I got an appropriate bra on! I will also say that previously I have bought several dresses that are high quality here. The kids side of the store has a great selection of toys, books and a super cute jewelry.
