On our way camping with Fifth Wheel in tow; we broke down right out front. They were busy, but managed to squeeze us in. We ended up having to wait for a radiator to come from Fresno. They were so kind and let us camp in the back of the shop. The Who crew were nice and accommodating. My husband had a bit of bad luck with the Fifthwheel , and was so frustrated. These guys do a great job, communicate extremely well with their customers and are very fair in pricing their automotive services. I've been dealing with my F150 going through a mid life crisis at about 160,000 miles, and its been throwing us some real challenging situations. Don't come here for gas ever. My family stopped by to get some snacks on a road trip and we were treated very disrespectfully and unprofessionally by the cashier lady. She was very warm and welcoming to everyone else until she saw us. She seemed to really want us to leave and didn't even make eye contact. And it seemed that she was acting that way because of our race. Everyone else that she was nice to was white and we're Asian. Unbelievably horrible store service - although I don't know about the auto stuff. Just keep going until you find a better place. read more

Go again: YES! I barely got my van into Zak's parking lot since it was almost not starting. Jim had just finished with a car and did not have another one waiting, so he got to my van right away, diagnosed the problem, had the part in stock (a temperature gauge for a 1993 Ford E-150 van) and fixed it within one hour. Gave Zaks a call this morning to see if they had time to check out my brakes. Road the brakes pretty hard coming down Old Priest Grade. Brakes were smoking toward the end of the road and weren't too responsive. Stopped in and they said that road does that to a lot of people but my brakes were probably fine. They did a quick look and said I had about 80% of my brake pads. Gave me some suggestions and a handshake. Nice to have the reassurance and not get dooped. Zach's is great. They removed a tow hitch from my truck. I offered to pay for this service and after hearing that I was popped with a $1,100+ fix it ticked (ball was blocking one digit of the plate) I couldn't get them to accept any money. That was very appreciated. Their prices are fair (charging no more than the normal going rate). Honest, nice people, great service, cleanest repairs shop I've ever seen, and their parts shop offers a good selection (and will order your part if it's not in stock). I recommend this to the locals in the area as well as the weekend warriors (you won't be taken advantage of). The hours are for the mini-mart. The repair and parts closes at 5pm (not sure what time they open or if they are open on weekends). Gasoline station available 24 hours with credit card, has diesel fuel. Small mini-mart has basics, newspapers, some snow gear/clothes, firewood. Repair shop has auto parts/tools/accessories store with best stock east of Sonora. read more

Ill make this short and sweet. I went to Mi Wk Village for a vacation. I was overheating on the way up. They looked at the truck and figured out it was the radiator cap. Boom! Only charged me for the minimum labor fee and was done. Any other shop like this who knows they kinda have you for the repair could charge whatever but they didn't. We had a problem with our alternator and were able to leave the van at Zak'a with the minimart worker on Sunday afternoon. They called first thing Monday morning to tell me they'd ordered the part and then it was fixed on Tuesday for a reasonable price. I had already returned home so they held the van for me until I was back in Mi Wuk a couple of weeks later. The van runs great! Thanks Zak for bailing us out of a tough situation. This place has to be under new ownership .. After countless trips in for service over the years today some idiot over the phone told me they'll have to decline to do service on my 2009 Audi due to its needs for as he put it "Special Tools." All I asked them to due was take off the timing cover and replace a chain tensioner. I can do that in my garage! Wow I can't put this any more plain_ you guys suck now. I bought a Blazer that had been sitting for a while. It needed some work but I bought it because Zak's said they had looked at it earlier and knew what it initially needed. They replaced the starter and a couple other things. They even tightened down a tie rod and let me know what they thought it might need going forward. Price was reasonable. I'm a Local, live in the neighborhood. I had an emergency situation arise with my car, as I hit a large object that was laying in the roadway late at night. It did some damages to the underside of my car. There were plastic shielding/plates hanging down, bent brackets and loose wiring. My check engine light activated immediately. I knew my vehicle needed experienced eyes to inspect the damages and make necessary repairs. In the morning I called Zak's Auto Shack. Dave and Tom fielded my calls and were able to work me into their scheduled appointments. almost immediately. Their service was excellent and friendly. They didn't pull any bull. They communicated with me throughout the estimation/evaluation process and were able to quickly determine what the damages were, and what needed to be repaired-- and how much that would cost. The rates were quite fair and the turn-around time was fast. They even were able to perform some needed maintenance while fixing my problems. Zak's is a trustworthy business with good personnel! Really happy with their mechanic Jim. Chevy dealer in Jamestown couldn't figure out the problem with my auto transmission so I took it to Jim. The Cashier at the gas part of this business is a real BITCH!!!!!!! Went to get gas walked inside she is the biggest Bitch . She gave me such a bad time. I Left without getting gas, Went to Sierra Village to get my gas. Second time this has happen there. SHE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!!!! Before you don't have anyone stopping there because of her. We like to use local business but will not be back there until you do something about her. She has a very smart mouth and doesn't listen to what you are saying to her. We live full time in Mi Wuk Village. The auto repair part is great we have work done there several times. read more
