When my wedding ring lost a diamond, I was upset and put off doing anything about it. Finding the right place to take my ring was important. After reading reviews, I decided to take the ring to Zak's for an estimate. The estimate for the diamond replacement was very reasonable and the interaction with the staff put me at ease. They suggested a new rhodium plating for the white gold, which I appreciated and included in the work to be done. They said they would call within a week and I received a call 5 days later. They not only did great work they surpassed my expectations. The ring was restored to new condition and had a dazzling sparkle again. The new diamond was so perfect my husband forgot and couldn't tell which one had been missing. This is a small family owned business. They're professional and gave me great service. Absolutely the best jewelry store in SW Florida! After 4 years living in Florida I have finally found a jewelry store that isn't ripping off the customer. I took 1 piece of diamond jewelry that needed to be rhodiumed to 2 other area jewelers and both wanted ridiculous money to do so. When I went to Zak's, not only was their price reasonable, it wasn't going to have to be sent out and it would be completed in 1 day, not the 2-3 weeks quoted by the others. When I went the next day to pick it up, I brought 3 other pieces of jewelry. 1 pair or earrings that were broken and they fixed them on the spot. No charge. The other 2 needed small repairs and rhodium and let me tell you this. The price once again was extremely affordable compared to DD and JM who are on TV stating they are the best. They may think they are but both places were disorganized and couldn't immediately give me the price for repairs, they had to look it up, talk to coworkers and when I finally received pricing it was ridiculous. I think they prey on those they believe to be wealthy. Anyway, Zak's employees were professional, organized, knowledgeable and offered many tips for keeping my jewels safe. The lady said we don't do that in the nasty tone and she looked at him like he was a criminal, it's okay you can spin it whichever way you like we know what happened. Visited Zak's today to have my diamond ring which is set in Platinum , just to ask them to clean the ring polish up the platinum and clean the stone. The woman looked at me as if I was there to rob the store ,very rudely stated that no we don't do that sort of thing! Meanwhile we watch all their wonderful ads they're a family business and please come in to have any repairs done while you wait and you can watch us do it. My fiance and I really did not have a good experience here. We're currently ring shopping and were in the area so decided to stop in to briefly get an idea of their selection. Even though it was 10 minutes til close, their doors were locked, so we got halfway to the street but a lady opened the door and asked us to come in. It was really awkward--there were four people standing around, and it was unclear exactly who was a worker and who was a patron. No one was friendly, and the one woman behind the counter was very short with her responses to my questions (do you have sets? "Some." do you take custom orders? "Sometimes.") and seemed truly annoyed we were there. They have a small engagement ring selection compared to other stores in the area--maybe about 80 rings in a 2' by 1.5' display case. I gathered that they order a bunch of pre-set rings, then sell what they have. If they don't have precisely what you want, it seems you're SOL. That said, they only had one ring with the cut I wanted, and it was just under $9,000 and big and bulky (not at all the ring style I wanted). No, "what's your budget; what style and metal are you looking for," etc. Put off, we said "thanks" and were walking out the door as we heard a halfhearted "congratulations." I hate to think they looked at me and my fiance and thought we looked young so didn't have much money to spend, but this is really what it seemed like. Even though we're in our thirties, we both have well-established careers. This should NEVER matter, though--if you're in the business to cater to all types of customers, either do it well or exit the market. I was sorely disappointed in my experience and will never come back here. read more

Just wanted to get a ring guard and possibly look at some rings. The lady took the ring and examined it, but didn't say anything. She went to the back room (I'm thinking how long will she be gone) but luckily she came back in a few minutes with a ring guard installed. She just said that will be $5. Didn't clean the ring, didn't ask if we wanted to see anything else, nothing. We asked why she examined the ring before going in back. She hesitated, then said abruptly that she did that incase we would say it was missing stones when she gave it back. I got my watch battery replaced here two months ago. It stopped working , so I went back today to see if they would replace it. I explained that the Jeweler had insisted on me paying with cash and that I hoped they would give me another battery for my watch. They would NOT stand behind their work and wanted to charge me for another battery. I am glad to learn this now before I purchased anything expensive from them. I'm not familiar with their entire business. But here is a warning: do not sell jewelry to Zak's. Over the years, I have sold several pieces of fine jewelry. Each time I visit several local jewelers to get the best price. The four times that I stopped into Zak's to ask them if they wanted to purchase my jewelry, not only were they the lowest offer, but they were ridiculously lower. For instance, one time they offered me 120 for an art deco watch, another jeweler gave me 280. In 2008 they offered me 4000 for a loose diamond, sold it to another jeweler twenty minutes later for 7000. And today I went to 4 jewelers and offered a diamond and platinum bracelet. Three jewelers offered me between 2400-2600. Zak's offered me 1150! I don't know if they just can't value correctly, or if they only want items they mark up 800%. But DO NOT SELL THEM YOUR JEWELRY. To be fair, maybe because they buy it so low, they may also sell jewelry at better prices, so maybe its a good place to buy estate jewelry--not sure just speculating. read more
