Fig wood fire pizza with fresh arugula, prosciutto, feta cheese
    George R.

Great Mediterranean restaurant in Aptos/Santa Cruz. Establishment offers indoor and outdoor seating. Nice decor and clean. We ordered a wood fire pizza, feta fries, and a salad bowl. Food was ready quick and staff are friendly. The pizza crust is deliciosos and not doughy. The ingredients on the fig pizza are fresh and enhanced our food experience. All ingredients balanced one another to provide many flavors. The feta fries were so delicious. Balance hint of olive oil with feta and other ingredients that make this appetizer a must have. The salad bowl offer a great amount of ingredients to make it a fresh and great main course dish. Definitely recommend dining here for lunch or dinner. Prices are reasonable. They also offer wine and beer selections.

Eastern Mediterranean Pizza - Fig chutney, goat cheese, prosciutto & arugula.

Zameen Mediterranean Cuisine offers flavorful casual dining with a varied yet limited menu of soup, salads, wraps, bowls, pizzas and a few specialties One can dine indoors, or on their large outdoor patio. We enjoyed their Moroccan Madness soup and a Eastern Mediterranean Pizza. The soup is vegan, made with chickpeas, curry, coconut milk, tomato & garlic. Their Eastern Mediterranean Pizza was quite delicious, with fig chutney, goat cheese, prosciutto, and topped with arugula. The restaurant is clean and the employees are helpful and friendly. The decor offers a relaxing and comfortable environment. The Mediterranean fare at Zameen offers a healthy choice for a delicious meal.

I've always loved how well-balanced Mediterranean food is and having Zameen is a great alternative to pricey resort fare. This lamb bowl is served with greens and cranberry and almond couscous. Yes there is meat but it's often grilled not fried, with citrus brightening and therefore lightening up whatever dish you're enjoying like these dolmas. Even this pizza is topped with arugula and fig jam to balance out the salty prosciutto. Both good enough to return for again just a couple of months later when we found ourselves back in Aptos.

Lamb and beef gyro, falafel gyro

Came after hike at Forest of Nisene Marks. plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, seemed to be popular spot, at least 10 other people came after us. Food-wise, offers healthy wraps, salads and rice bowls. The wraps were generous serving size, like a huge burrito, and came stuffed with salad greens. Saw staff warm up bread in their oven, but ours didn't taste as warmed. Lamb/beef gyro wrap (4/5)- brother said meat was too salty Falafel wrap (4/5) - falafel wasn't freshly fried so was soggy. Had dry mouth feel afterwards.

Love this place. The gyro bowls and lamb burgers are our go to. They have two spots here in the county and both are great.

We ordered at a counter, and were instructed to wait to hear our names called for the order. We sat at a table in the small room adjacent to the counter. Food. My husband ordered a whole Beef and Lamb Doner Wrap (whole, $17, half, $11), which consisted of lettuce, tomato, red cabbage, carrots, fries, Turkish seasoned onions, fresh herbs, and a red sauce in lavash. The wrap was HUGE, and very tasty. In fact, he ate only half, and we (together) ate the second half the next day. If we were to make one change, we'd order it without the fries in the wrap. Rating: 4.75/5. I ordered the Combo Doner Box ($15). This was a combo of beef/lamb + chicken doner, served in a box full of fries, with a choice of sides (tzatziki, in my case). Rating: 3/5. This entree was heavy on fries (though they were very tasty and crisp), had an okay amount of the beef/lamb doner, and was light on the chicken doner. Also, I should have read the description better when ordering at the counter. I expected some lettuce and tomatoes that they weren't in the description; some fresh veggies would've increased my liking of the meal. Overall, my husband's wrap was the better value. Dessert. (4.5/5). This restaurant offers amazing desserts, including baklava and Turkish delight. We ordered a variety that we shared back at home with others later. Slight reduction in rating due to high cost point -- but they ARE special treats! Service. (3/5). The girl at the counter was friendly enough, but there's very little "service" per se. You place your order at the counter, where you also pick it up when your name is called. My husband also went back to the counter once to request more sauce. Ambiance. (3/5). This is a popular restaurant -- leading to congestion at the front counter. The side dining area was also tightly packed with tables and chairs, with patrons rearranging the set-up, and bumping into others, to meet the sizes of their dining parties. It was also uncomfortably warm. The kitchen also seemed to be understaffed, so service was slower than expected. In fact, after a significant wait, my husband approached the counter to check on the status of our order just as the order was called. Overall, these were minor glitzes, and we still recommend this restaurant and will return.

We were greeted right when we arrived and seated in a window seat that was somewhat private. We ordered the Housemade Focaccia Bread to start that was topped with sea salt & extra virgin olive oil; whipped butter and the roasted beet salad with feta cheese, pickled bermuda onion, candied walnut, organic mesclun greens & honey-dijon vinaigrette. For entrees we ordered the Pan Seared Sand Dabs cooked in white wine, lemon, caper beurre blanc; seasonal vegetables & mélange of rice. This dish was so flavorful and would absolutely order again. We also ordered the Halibut en Papillote which is baked in parchment paper over a bed of spinach, tomato, zucchini, yellow squash, kalamata olives, roasted bell pepper, exotic mushrooms, artichoke, fresh herbs, garlic, shallots & EV olive oil. The presentation alone is worth the order but the flavors of the halibut combined with the perfectly cooked vegetables made the dish my favorite. We absolutely ate every single bite. To finish we had the Lemon Tiramisu which is Lady fingers soaked in housemade limoncello, lemon mascarpone mousse, topped with lemon curd, crème anglaise & amarena cherry sorbet. The presentation was almost too beautiful to eat but alas we dove right in and finished it all. It had the perfect balance of sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet. The sorbet was the perfect compliment to the lemon. Overall we had a wonderful dinner and would visit again if we came back to the area.

All ordering is done on an iPad here and I ended up going with the Beef and Lamb combo plate with half salad and half rice. I chose the Baba Ganoush as the side to go with the Pita bread. When I had read that the Baba Ganoush was especially good here, I have to agree. It had that distinct smokey taste from the charred eggplant blended with tahini. Let's get started with the Pita bread. Oh how I loved this Pita served up warm, soft, and fresh. Was this the best Pita I've ever tried? Did I just say that? Yes. Dipped into the Baba Ganoush, I knew that this alone was hitting the spot. The beef and lamb was solid-- tender, juicy, thinly sliced and nicely seasoned. The salad with olives was exactly what I expect from a good Mediterranean salad- light and big on the olive taste. The rice was fluffy and seasoned well. Everything about this combo plate was done well and I'm definitely coming back here the next time I'm in Gilroy.

For starters, our party of eight shared the fried calamari, dolmas, baba ghanoush, and fried cheese. The fried cheese is fired up table side and is quite a sight to see! It's also very tasty. Loved the extreme smoky flavor on the baba ghanoush too. My fiancé and I split the grilled roasted vegetable salad. We were surprised the spinach was lightly sautéed to a wilt, but actually really enjoyed it. We also ordered the special of the day the veal chops: 3 chops cooked medium rare as requested with au gratin potatoes and a big helping of veggies. I wasn't a fan of the sauce that came with the lamb. I did like the potatoes and the carrots and string beans were fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The rest of the table got some variation of skewers or salad and the consensus was all the skewers (chicken and beef) were dry. My SIL did say the salmon on the Caesar salad was cooked very well though. The entree portions are very healthy! We didn't have room for dessert, but our server made sure we got a little sampler baklava which was a perfectly sweet way to end the meal. Pricy, but what you'd expect in Carmel. Reservations highly recommended! Tons of parties on the waitlist hanging out outside for a table. Street parking only.
