The pita for the gyros was big and soft and super yummy. It was more bready than a pita. The falafel gyros were stuffed with greens, falafels and feta+tahini. I docked 1 star for the favt that hot sauce was an upcharge. I haven't come across any middle eastern/Mediterranean joint which charges for hot sauce. First time to eat at Zameen and I love it! Located in a nice commercial area with inside and outside seating. Plenty of parking space. The young man who took my order was amazing! We came here on a weekend evening and there was a consistent trickle of people coming in after us to be seated or pick up their to-go orders. Overall we thought the food was super good. Everything was fresh and had good taste. My partner enjoyed his gyro bowl with lamb and beef and it had couscous and rice. My falafel pit was probably one of the best ones I've had in a long time. The falafel was not too overpowering while the pita was super moist. The feta cheese in the Greek fries were addicting. Everything here was scrumptious and fresh. There are about 10 tables when you walk in and you go up to the register and order, take a number, and they bring the food to you. They clear the tables for you. Zameen is one of our favorite spots in Aptos. We visit our parents up here monthly, and it's a known fact we stop here for our first meal if we arrive during business hours. The food quality is great each time and is always the same. We always get a bowl of Moroccan Madness soup, falafel bowl and chicken bowl. The couscous option for the bowls is our favorite. The servers are always kind and make excellent suggestions if you aren't quite sure what you have a taste for. I've always loved how well-balanced Mediterranean food is and having Zameen is a great alternative to pricey resort fare. This lamb bowl is served with greens and cranberry and almond couscous. Yes there is meat but it's often grilled not fried, with citrus brightening and therefore lightening up whatever dish you're enjoying like these dolmas. Even this pizza is topped with arugula and fig jam to balance out the salty prosciutto. Both good enough to return for again just a couple of months later when we found ourselves back in Aptos. read more

The value was exceptional for the quality and quantity of fresh food in the wraps (lamb and falafel tried) which were both excellent. I visited again today -- still delicious as always. The food feels even more heartfelt each time I go. Prices have gone up everywhere, so portions feel a little smaller these days, but I'm still very satisfied. The ambience is calm and comforting. There's an old black-and-white photo on the wall -- it doesn't say "Real People," but it shows ordinary folks from long ago -- not the modern, fancy kind of scene, but humble people in simple clothes, riding something like an old cart. It reminds me of countryside life -- warm, human, and unhurried. Every time I look at that picture, it warms my heart. I love that honest, down-to-earth feeling -- it makes the whole place feel alive. This restaurant has plenty of seats but a very small parking lot. With boutiques and coffee shops nearby, parking becomes really difficult during lunch hours. That's why I think -- sitting for a long time with just one coffee while taking up a parking space during busy hours only hurts the restaurant. If we truly love America and what it stands for, then supporting our local businesses -- especially in hard times like these -- is real patriotism. A little kindness and consideration go a long way. Zameen's mezze platter is an excellent way to sample their tasty dips, falafel (best around), dolmas and pita, and have some leftover for later. They only have this at the Aptos location, I think. My lamb burger was sooooo soggy. Not a great representation of the restaurant, ngl. Literally juice was dripping out of the patty and made my burger's bread soooo soggy and gross. Like probz one of the worst lamb burgers I've had. I did like the fries that came with it. The side of fries that came with the lamb burger were pretty good though. I thought they tasted super yum and crispy, and didn't even need to be dipped in the ketchup they came with. This place was not bad! I came by for lunch on a Friday and it wasn't busy so I was able to order and grab a seat right sway. Price feels fair, the gyro is pretty massive. I hold gyros to very high standards as I love one place in Milpitas. The ones here are bigger, but it misses the mark on flavor. The pita was a little too thin (though it is big). It also didn't have that nice warm comforting feeling, probably because all of the veggies inside got it cold real quick. Because of this, the gyro didn't really feel as hefty. There was a decent amount of meat but I'm not sure, it was just missing a little flavor. I've had their falafels before and they were wonderful but when I found out they had charbroiled hamburgers, that's what I chose and I'll have to say it was one of the best burgers I've had in Aptos!! I don't find myself in Aptos often but when I do come this is a great Mediterranean spot to hit up! The gyro meat wasn't too salty, everything tastes so fresh and filling. The salad came with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, garbanzo beans and lots of lettuce. The saffron rice looked bomb too! It was a rough decision. During the PM it gets pretty busy in this place so come right before dinner rush hour. For dessert we shared baklava. It was sweet and tastes like apple maple syrup. I wouldn't say it's the best baklava I've ever tasted but it was a delicious crisp apple pie taste. Overall, the service was really good too! If you are looking for a simple Mediterranean restaurant then you have come to the right place. It is located in a strip mall, surrounded by stores. A men's clothing store and florist can be found on either side. Parking is plentiful in a private lot. The restaurant is clean and they have a public bathroom behind the counter. There is indoor and out door seating. I saw many people also taking food to go. You order at the front counter and then they bring it to your table. They server beer and slushes. You have 3 choices- wrap, salad, or bowl. I choose bowl. It came with saffron rice, tomatoes and cucumber along with a meat of your choice. It looked small, but it was very filling, I couldn't eat it all. For dessert they have brownies and baklava. I tried the baklava. It has more filling then flakey layers. read more

Their juicy lamb burger with sweet potato fries and pomegranate walnuts sauce, house made pita and fresh hummus was always a treat. Tonight our daughter was visiting us from out of town. She wanted "a great burger." We headed to Zameen's. We were "greeted" by a loud abrupt voice from the kitchen telling us to 'order at the counter and we will find you when our food is ready.' And 'if we want a menu we could get it at the counter and take it back to our table.' Not a good start. She then continued to be loud and obnoxious as she interacted with the cooking staff. There was zero sense of welcome or hospitality. It did not seem to be overly busy or otherwise have reason for this poor level of service. It just seemed to be 'their new normal.' The person behind the counter was pleasant enough. He took our order efficiently and was probably the best part of the meal. When the person from the kitchen brought our food to the table in a rushed manor, my wife made a request for additional pomegranate walnut sauce, she was coarsely told, 'They cost .50 each you can go to the counter and order more!' Which I already new because I read the sign at the register and had already paid for one. So I returned to the register and paid for 2 more. While at the register the young man went to get the sauces for me and the same person in the kitchen area made a rude comment regarding 'not give away free sauces anymore, we are making money.' Perhaps focusing more on food quality control, hospitality and customer service would pay off more than .50 sauces. The food was awful. Totally burnt burgers, dry and lacking flavor, other than char. The fries were over cooked and dehydrated. Which we only ate because we were starving. We had to go back to the counter and ask for utensils. Go to a different area to get our own water and there was no attempt by anyone to see if we enjoyed our meal or needed anything. Because of the coarseness of the individual in the kitchen who appeared to be the shift manger, I had no desire to address any of this with her.
