Thai Heart is perhaps the best Thai restaurant I've ever eaten at. It's a small shop run by the wife (chef) & husband (front of house). It feels like it may be home cooking and it's worth the wait. Especially their lemongrass soup and roasted duck. From what I understand one of them may have suffered a health set back that's preventing them from being open, but there are a whole lot of us out there pulling for speedy recovery. We sat in the courtyard and were treated to dinner and a show. Every time our server came out he threw a handful of peanuts in the shell to the squirrels. The husband said, "Imagine him sitting down with his accountant at the end of the year:" Owner: I don't understand how with COVID recovery I have more business this year and even some COVID recovery checks, yet I can't seem to even break even. Accountant: You have an expense here for... (checks notes) $24,000 in peanuts?! Thai Heart is a good-for-Scotts-Valley kind of Thai place. (Sorry, Scott's Valley!) The Spring Rolls were a bit too mushy on the inside. We had the Tom Kha Gai soup with chicken. It was the daughter's first time having it and she loved it. It was my favorite part of the meal, too. I didn't love the flavor of the Basil Chicken. I'm okay with spicy but I didn't like the flavor of what was making it spicy. Everyone loved the Mussaman Chicken but frankly we've had better Mussaman. The Pad Thai was fine but globby. If you're coming to the dinner show be sure to bring a sweater. It gets chilly outside and there are no heaters. read more

I really like Thai Heart. The couple that runs the place is super nice, and supportive in the community. It's a small place, and a little chaotic, but that adds to the charm for me. The prices are quite reasonable, and the quantity is good. Some folks might find the food runs a bit on the sweet side, but I find all Thai food to run sweet. Theirs might be slightly sweeter than average, but I really like it. I generally get the stir fried dishes, and the curries, and enjoy them all. I ordered fried rice with shrimp, which were so tasty and fresh, papaya salad w peanuts, it was pretty good but also pretty spicy and a Thai iced tea for dessert. Thai Heart is a must try!!!! We were vacationing in the area and Yelp found us this hidden gem to try... The food is excellent! Not even joking but in my 53 years of existence on this planet I've never had egg rolls as good as theirs. Everything was amazing but the egg rolls were transcendent! Furthermore, we got to chat a bit with the owner Richie and he's a really nice and interesting guy. He even gave us a tip about where the police have speed traps set up along the highway and sure enough on the way home we saw one right where he said they'd be! I usually order the Tom kha soup when I'm feeling under the weather which is always delicious, but, this time the soup was sour because there was way too much lime juice. It's usually full of spice, but, it was over powered with lime juice. I'll still be going to Thai Heart. We keep coming back since this place is so true to its name, Thai Heart put so much love into every meal. They are very conscious of making sure the to go food has a box so it does not spill in the car. One review talk about all the boxes they have, they do this for the customers because many do not want plastic bags they want boxes and it prevents spills in the car. We were in the area and came across this restaurant. Kept on the side of a center area, it was hard to find but the GPS showed us and we were able to find it. At first glance, we noticed the cute, but small dining area. They have 2 main dining areas that are for small groups. I would say 1-6 people max. If you sit by the window, you can also get a sneak peek of the squirrels munching away on the peanuts the owners offer them so they don't come inside the restaurant. We got takeout on this particular day and for a party of 6, we felt like the portions were generous and the food was overall good and filling. We had pineapple fried rice (good portions of pineapple), pad Thai and pad see ewe. All were yummy for dinner! The owner was also very kind and sweet! read more

Thai Heart is a MUST HAVE. My family and I had the chance to visit this restaurant for the first time and we were welcomed with excitement and top notch service. The owner was personable and really put love into his work. The chef made us green curry, pad Thai, Panang curry, and a fried tofu dish. We finished off with mango sticky rice for dessert. This was by far some of the best Thai food I've ever tasted. The meat was tender, the spices were spot on, the tofu was perfectly seasoned and fried. My foodie friends introduced me to Thai Heart this weekend and really talked it up, so I knew it was going to be great.. but I wasn't prepared for it to be outstanding and for it to become my new favorite Thai spot. The fresh rolls were freshly rolled, evenly layered and beautifully plated with delicious peanut sauce. The papaya salad had thinly cut veg and a nicely balanced sweet/ sour dressing. The Thai sausage had a unique texture, almost like small, pulled chunks vs ground meat with sour rice. The absolute star of the show was the red duck curry. It was perfectly spiced (the owner discussed spice levels with me for a solid minute to ensure that the chef got it right) and the flavor of the red curry was multi- dimensional, sweet and bold and paired beautifully with the duck. If I had to describe this dish in one word it is: SUCCULENT. If you're looking for something to nourish your belly and your soul, it's the red duck curry with white rice. Pro tip, if you plan on going during a traditionally busy time, call ahead to make sure they have it because it will sell out. The owners are also lovely people who will go out of their way to make your experience a memorable one. I also have to mention that their Thai themed decor and brightly colored walls made for an all-around delightful dining experience. This is truly a great Thai place, so they have a lot of business. On busy nights, I'd recommend to call in early and pick it up. It's my first time checking out this local spot. A little hidden away, but I found it. When I came in I was told to grab a menu and sit wherever I wanted. The man who greeted me was very nice. He was the greeter, waiter, server and handled take out. It wasn't too busy, so he multitasked well. The Thai Iced Tea was yummy. A little light on the cream and heavier on the tea but it was still good. The soup came out first. It was a little more on the sour salty side vs the real white coconut style flavor I'm used to, but it was still good and they gave a generous amount of chicken. They didn't leave those hard parts that you normally have to discard like the lemon grass or ginger. So that was nice not having to fish it out of the soup. The Thai egg rolls and satay came next. The egg rolls had a nice thin crunchy wrapper and were not too greasy and the veggies inside were nicely cooked. The satay was perfect. The chicken was tender and flavored very nicely even before adding the peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was excellent as well. My greeter/waiter/server helped wrap up my leftovers and was very pleasant. I'm all about the digital age, but when the iPad was placed in front of me to leave a tip while he was standing there it was a little awkward, but he left to wrap up my satay so I was able to leave him a nice tip without the hovering. Seriously the most underrated hidden gem Thai food in all of Santa Cruz county! Probably because they are old-school (no online ordering or updated website and no social media). Pad Thai was extremely sweet and dry, noodles were stuck to each other. Fresh rolls seemed to have 90percent iceberg lettuce, green papaya salad was not tasty or spicy. I think they used to pay more attention to the quality of the food but since they re opened I think is not longer good. read more

I would absolutely recommend this place! It's really good pricing for only $20 a plate, and you get LOTS of food with it! You can also get rice, soup, and ice cream when you eat your main course.
