Decent Greek restaurant in midtown area. We ordered crab cakes, greek salad and seafood linguine. Salad bowl was huge and the salad was excellent. Crab cakes were just ok. Seafood linguine was good but I certainly had better. The service was nice and friendly, even though the place was quite busy. Overall, it's a good choice for dinner but it is pricey for what you get (mostly because of proximity to hotels), the dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine was over $180. read more

My coworker and I were looking for a greek restaurant and found this fancy place. We ordered The Special it was all deep fried but it was very crispy and delicious! The dip was the star for this dish, it was a thick tzatziki dip but balances the deep fried egg plant, zucchini, and saganaki. There was a lot more zucchini and egg plant versus saganaki. Wish there was a lemon to add some zest to the dish. We originally wanted to get the sausage but they do not have it anymore, which was a bummer. So we settled for calamari. The Calamari did not come with any dip just a lemon... but the calamari has a nice light batter and the calamari was perfectly cooked. Lastly, the main dish! Seafood Linguine. The sauce was very flavourful. The shrimp was HUGE and it was accompanied with two big scallop. Drizzled on the side was some calamari. The seafood was perfect cooked. However, the downside of this dish was the Linguine. It was too soft and a lot of it. Overall, the meal was delicious I do recommend this place. However, this is a fancy twist to greek food. If you were expecting a traditional greek meal you may be disappointed. read more

In Montreal for 9 nights and this place is right next to our hotel. Lots of action, great vibe so thought we'd give it a try. Food was good, not great, especially considering the prices. We have an amazing Greek restaurant in Victoria (our hometown) which is our go-to for stand out food, and has the best calamari I've ever had. The calamari here was again, good, but not great and got chewier the longer it sat. At home it is half the price and far superior to the offering here. Our mains were good, chicken and lamb chops, but required salt and pepper. I would suggest to the restaurant, space the tables a bit further apart ( we were so close to a family from New York) , work on flavour and perhaps diversity of your menu. Not much on the vegetarian options. Again good but not great for the prices and quality you are offering. read more

I had an amazingly delicious supper at Zante on Monday night. Our server, Juliano made the perfect wine and food recommendations. I asked for a dry white wine and he recommended a chardonnay from South Africa, I wasn't sure about it, so he offered a taster sample and I absolutely fell in love with it. I had 4 glasses by the end of the night. As for food, everything on the menu is cooked to perfection and served beautifully. My friend and I had the saganaki and crab cakes to start, which were both perfect starter portions to share. The saganaki was fresh and fried perfectly without being too oily. The crab cakes were cooked and seasoned just right. Then we moved on to the chilean sea bass with a greek salad side that was recommended again by Juliano. My friend and I were in heaven! Every bite of the chilean sea bass just melted in my mouth. The greek salad was incredible with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, red and yellow peppers and red onions, with just the right amount of dressing. It was a perfect compliment to the Chilean sea bass. We finished off with a plate of feta and olives. Again, the feta and olives were incredibly fresh and well seasoned and served perfectly. All prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality and care that goes into preparing each dish. If the delicious food, wine and impeccable service from Juliano wasn't enough, the ambiance created by Alexei's absolutely fantastic playlist of 90s hip hop and R&B was the perfect background music to keep me grooving all night. The music was played at a perfect volume. Not too loud, but just enough so I was able to catch each song and relive some of my most treasured memories associated to that particular track. He played every one of my favorite songs from that era. From The Pharcyde to Sade to Toni Braxton and Janet Jackson and many more. This man knows his music and knows how to create a mood. The lighting in the restaurant is dim, but only dim enough to feel as if my friend and I were in our own little world. There was still enough light for us to see eachother and to admire the food on the table. The tables are nicely set apart from eachother too so I never felt like I was lacking in privacy, even when the restaurant was full. Just before my friend and I were about to leave another string of favorite songs were playing so we asked Juliano if he could makes us some specialty coffees. We asked for Brazilian coffees and we were not disappointed at all. The coffee was freshly brewed and delicious, and Juliano added a nice amount of whipped cream and coffee bean garnish. After the coffee it was time to leave, but I truly cannot wait to go back. I also want to say thank you to the other servers who were also passing by our table, making sure we had everything we needed. Zante has staff that truly cares about their dinner guests and want them to have the best experience possible. It really shows that they strive to exceed their guest's expectations. And from my experience they definitely achieved that. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you haven't already. I know I'm counting the days until I can go back! read more

I spent the better part of the day trying g to make reservations at this place. Was told they have a table for 5, went down to book the reservation in person but was told it was not available. Was told they could set us inside. Called to confirm but was now told they do not take day of reservations. Went back to the restaurant and was told by juliano that they do not take day of reservations. This begs the question, how was the original table reserved - in the day of? I cant comment on the food but refuse to spend a penny at a place where customers are treated with such disrespect, dishonesty, and arrogance. This establishment is a gem!! Labeled a Greek restaurant but put away all of your most common conceptions of Greek food. This is Greek elegance and sophisticated magnificence in the food preparation. First, the think that makes any establishment is service. Here, the service is impeccable but subtle. With just a glance the server , Juliano attended every need. So personable, so available, but never over-bearing. The Greek salad is the essence of pure, fresh tomato, cucumber, peppers, not too much olive, two chunks of feta, in a deliciously fresh olive oil and vinegar with subtle but effective seasoning. Most importantly, and this epitomizes the restaurant, all presented at the perfect room temperature and as if the vegetables and marinated perfectly. The Linguine aux fruits de mer is not too overbearing on a bed of fine pasta with a delicious, sauce that lingers on the pasta and is so flavorful. The seafood is ringed calamari, head calamari, sautéed, scallop, and huge shrimp. In New Orleans would be called prawns. My only complaint was a little light on shrimp and one more would be amazing. The cappuccino was so thick with milk froth it far outlasted the coffee. House made pistachio ice cream is perfectly not too sweet and rich and creamy perfection. This restaurant knows EXACTLY what they are doing! Somewhat limited in selection but everything done to the finest detail. You must ask for Juliano, he will take good care of you. I was not expecting much since this restaurant is in the McGill neighborhood and surrounded by lux hotel chains and commercial buildings. Wow, was I wrong. This Greek food is fabulous. Freshly baked pita bread brought to the table. Three course prix fix lunch menu very reasonably priced. My halibut was sublime and my family enjoyed the lamb chops, spaghetti, and giant Caesar salad. Very pricey for standard Greek food, fish was cooked well however our roasted vegetables that was suppose to be the side was scorched french beans. Ordered a pre-dinner drink and had 3 sides served before even finishing my drink, in and out in 1 hour at the end the waiter brought the bill and was hovering at the table waiting for it to be paid. Asked for some leftovers to be brought home to our daughter, they never brought it back. Felt like eating at a fast food restaurant where there are no reservations and a line up waiting to get in! There of course was no line up. Very disappointed, it was our wedding anniversary dinner and we had planned on dining at a Montreal Greek restaurant that is without contest the #1 in the city, didn't because of a recommendation to eat at Zante .... big mistake read more

You can fly for 13 hours to Greece, or you can come here and have authentic Greek food which is flavorful and delicious. I took the slightly faster route and visited Restaurant Zante with the wife. We had a chilled bottle of Pellegrino, split a Greek salad, and had two or three appetizers. We had their house made ice cream and beignet-style donuts for dessert. Everything was excellent, including the service. If and when we ever return to Montreal, we will definitely visit this restaurant. read more

An unforgettable experience to say the least! Staying at the neighboring hotel (Le Cantlie) with my husband and newborn and thought that this restaurant would be a convenient choice for dinner. Started off when the hostess insisted on wheeling/parking our stroller. Odd request, but sure.....she hit every.single.chair as we walked through two long rows of tables. I had to walk away I was laughing so hard. (I was holding our baby, or it would not be so entertaining). Hair was in everything-my water glass, appetizer plate, and main course! Ugh. I was so turned off and over this place when the main course finally came. I can't attest to the authenticity of this Greek restaurant, we had veal and lamb; surprising the food was good though overpriced for what you get. The waiter forgot my husbands beer and asked if he wanted it as he was clearing the table. Then asked if we were allergic to peanuts, stating he had a nice surprise for us. We got so sick of waiting for the complementary dessert that never came we went and asked for the bill! I wish I could say it was busy, but we went right at 5pm and were the only table outside.
