On our very first night in Montréal, we did what any responsible travelers would do: absolutely no planning whatsoever. We wandered in on a whim and somehow landed straight into what can only be described as a culinary jackpot. First visit to the city, and honestly, it set the bar so high everything else on the trip is still emotionally recovering. As a first-time visitor to Montreal, I can't imagine a better way to kick off a vacation with friends. We arrived during a full-on heat wave, which meant the restaurant was doing its best impression of "authentic Mediterranean sauna experience." But here's the twist: nobody cared. Not even a little. The food and service were working overtime to distract us from the fact that we were gently melting into our chairs. Before long, espresso martinis were appearing with suspicious frequency, and a perfectly respectable Negroni made an appearance as well. Now. We must talk about the true headliner. No notes. No edits. No constructive criticism. I do not say this lightly, but the fresh pita may have been life-changing. If you enjoy pita, feta, flavor, joy, serotonin, or the concept of happiness itself, please order it immediately. Do not consult the group. Do not "wait and see." Just act. NOW. No modifications. No hesitation. No regrets. The entrées were also fantastic. In fact, they were so fantastic that I failed my duties as a vacation food photographer. The plates vanished so quickly that I couldn't even get a proper photo, and now I can't remember what anyone ordered. It had already been spiritually consumed and physically erased from our plates. And then, just when we thought the night had peaked, Montréal said: "hold my espresso martini!" As we were leaving, we witnessed one final moment that sealed the experience. We witnessed a waiter sprinting down the sidewalk in a full-speed Olympic-level pursuit of a diner who had left their sunglasses behind. Did he catch them? No. Did it matter? Also no. The commitment alone deserved a standing ovation and possibly its own medal ceremony. The effort, determination, and Olympic-level commitment to customer service did not go unnoticed. When the food comes out, the flavours are fantastic. However, I felt as if the quality goes down if you don't eat it as fast as you can. The stars of the show today were the sangria the fries and the spanakopita. Everything else just felt like he was missing something. Regardless, this place, definitely gives grade vibes on a corner in old Montreal next to cobblestone roads very aesthetically amazing.

I decided on the soup of the day for my appetizer or entrees (en francais), and the salmon tartar with house fries as my main. Oh btw, the menu is in Italian and French for the after 9 special so bear that in mind if you're having trouble translating. The servers are happy to assist you thought with anything. Before the appetizers came out, they brought some lovely fresh focaccia with homemade goat cheese. It was absolutely delicious. The appetizers came out piping hot and quite fast. The mains however took a while, but the server gave us some additional bread to tie us over. I've heard seafood is well known here, and indeed it did not disappoint. The contrast between the warm, savory gougiere and the cool, umami fish was out of this world and really set the stage for the rest of the meal. The rabbit strozzapretti was my next favorite dish, I didn't realize rabbit could taste so savory without any hint of gaminess at all. The pasta was a nice al dente and the sauce felt like a warm hug. We also got the pintade (guinea fowl), the radicchio, and the flan. The guinea fowl was juicy and not dry at all, but my favorite was the crispy flavorful skin. The radicchio was a refreshing salad, although I thought they could have gone a bit lighter with the dressing. The flan was really good for dessert, and I could eat it even though I was getting really full at the end. Servers were nice, patient, and explained the menu items well. They had helpful suggestions and made sure our water glasses were never empty. Definitely worth a visit and cannot wait to come back!

Barely any oil, zero vinegar. It was just laughable. Server was nowhere to be seen so I couldn't ask for some extra oil and vinegar. Not once did she come by to see how we were doing or ask if we needed anything. Just couldn't be bothered, I guess. The chicken skewer platters were tasty enough but definitely nothing to write home about. We won't be returning on future visits to Montreal. The outside patio is cute but that was the only positive about our experience. Even trying to pay was a huge hassle as the server had seemingly disappeared and we waited for almost ten minutes until she showed her face. When she printed the bill, made an "are you stupid?" face as she was standing a bit further away from me and basically called me over like I was a dog. We still tipped her (15% instead of our usual of 22%) (my kids are extremely unhappy that I tipped at all) but we will never recommend this place to friends or family coming in from out of town. We visit Montreal quite a lot and frequent a lot of places but this is one that you can absolutely skip.
