It started off great the woman did my one eyebrow and then let me check and it was great. But then she did my other eyebrow and took sooooooo much off like an actual chunk of my eyebrow. And now it's so uneven. and I naturally have dark eyebrows where I don't need to use an eyebrow pencil but now I have to cause my eyebrow missing a good chunk. If you want to leave half your lashes here then come on in. I asked if they remove lashes and they said yes. Once she stared it already was painful, which I asked her if she's pulling my lashes out. She said no. It was 30 minutes of pain and I kept asking why is it so painful are you pulling them out. Once I got up half my lashes were gone. read more

Update: MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT YOUR RECEIPT AFTER THEY CHARGE YOU. THE LADY THAT RANG ME UP GAVE HERSELF EXTRA TIP (she punched in the tip herself and it was different than the amount I told her). These people are scammers and I'll never be going back. There is a place called THREAD BAR which is a block away and they are cleaner and their service is amazing! Terrible customer service Left hair all over my face, didn't offer tissues or offer to help wipe it off And demanded tip amount without letting me decide on my own (held the card machine with them and told me to tell them the amount of tip I wanted to give) and got upset at me that it wasn't the amount they wanted I also do not see them wiping down the chairs which is disgusting since it is summer and everyone that sits on the chair are sweaty The lady that did me also was talking on the phone during the threading which I find unprofessional In addition, it seems like they no longer offer the rewards program because I've been here twice and have kept receipt copies that someone signed and the lady today said they no longer count these as visits There are many other brow shops in the area within two blocks. I got my upper lip threaded here last week and am really regretting it. The woman doing my threading didn't wear gloves or wash her hands, but I was in a rush and had an event later, so I stayed against my better judgment. She also left a few pretty visible hairs, and I had to ask her to clean them up. A few days later, I am breaking out on my upper lip area (this has never happened before, and I've been getting threaded since high school). The worst threading experience I've ever had. For reference, I have very thick brows that I usually get done at Thread Bar down the street that does a phenomenon job maintaining the thickness and shape. Zara is slightly closer to me so I stopped by yesterday because I didn't have enough time to walk all the way to thread bar. Biggest mistake. I asked for just a clean up and she over threaded my eyebrows to the point that I don't even look the same. They are also so uneven. The process was also painful which never happens at Thread Bar. I've been coming here monthly for years now (this review is way overdue!) and my eyebrows look great every time I leave. You're in and out in 12 minutes flat, the women are sweet, and their work is great. I switched to threading after having (multiple!) bad experiences with waxes: a few different salons had taken the first layer of skin underneath my eyebrows clear off, and left me with a scab for weeks. Not a cute look. Threading is quicker, less painful (in my humble opinion), and you don't risk getting your skin literally pulled off. Plus, they always put soothing aloe on your brows afterward to calm the redness that ensues. If you pay in cash, it's only $10. With card, $13. Walk-in. Totally worth it. read more

My eyebrows always look great when I leave here, but after a few days I get minor breakouts around my eyebrows. I believe they are being too rough and actually ripping the skin off around my hairs when they thread. That's my only theory because I've gone to plenty of threading salons where it's less painful and I don't breakout. Rubbing alcohol seems to clear up the breakouts after a few days, but it's just annoying/unattractive to deal with. There's another place I found not to far from this place that sees eyebrow threading as an "art". I've been going there the last few times and their is a Groupon currently available. read more

My little sister has always been a fan of threading due to her having a low tolerance for pain. I was always a fan of waxing; however, being a tad superficial, the constant yanking on my skin near my eyes which is already delicate and thin is a risk of having premature wrinkles and speeding up that process. The one thing I prefer about going to this brow bar is that they welcome walk-ins, my schedule at times doesn't allow me to make appointments and keep them and I feel awful for cancelling last minute due to life -- at times it does get busy but I rather a busy brow bar than an empty one, it's a good sign in my honest opinion. The staff there are friendly and even handed me a punch card the next time I visit, just remember to have tip money on hand; if not, they do accept being tipped via card. I will not let anyone else touch my brows. The new location is perfect and you can't beat the prices. But the credit goes to the artist herself. She is not at the mall! I went there looking for her. No luck there. So I found her and my brows are beautiful and my pocket was not fleeced in the process. Wherever you get your brows done, and I've been to so many establishments, I have never been disappointing in the results. They were quick and efficient and did a nice job but the aesthetician was unnecessarily aggressive with the thread and left rows of small cuts around one of my eyebrows and also a couple around my mouth and one on my lip. I'll likely come back here because I'm still very happy with the brow shape and the women in the shop were pleasant enough, but I'm docking 2 stars because my face still hurts and I have scabs around my mouth and brows. read more

Big fan of Zara Brow Bar compared to other places in the city! They usually have a couple of ladies available, and I have never had to wait too long (even without an appointment). The place is comfortable and clean! In the few times I've gone for threading, I've found everyone to be super open to listening to what I want (e.g., adjusting the shape or style that I'm looking for). My only complaint is that every time I go, I always end up with a few skin cuts. The ladies say it is because I have sensitive skin - but this is usually not a problem anywhere else. This is often one of the given downsides of threading so not too big of a deal, but if this bothers you make sure you let them know! I've been getting my brows threaded for years now. I was looking for a place to get my brows threaded for cheap. In my hometown, I can get my brows threaded nicely for $6. I decided to come here because I saw that it was affordable and had decent reviews. I didn't make an appointment, I did a walkin. I entered the store & wasn't overwhelmed with friendly staff, it just seemed very straight to business. Didn't really get a warm welcome/greeting. They guided me to a chair and my brows were threaded and lotioned it. I didn't inspect my brows thoroughly until I got back to my apartment. I noticed a tiny cut on my eyelid and that I still had some hair that should've been removed. Overall this place was eh. This place is a hit or miss. I've been here 3 times so far and have had 2 great experiences and one pretty lousy one. All depends on who you get which is hard to say because they rotate out so much. Like many others say bring a student ID if you're a student, $8 is super reasonable for philly. One time I didn't bring mine and they charged me full price (acceptable) but it was still annoying. Yesterday I went and I had a girl who was very quick and did a great job! I think she did my eyebrows and upper lip in under 10 mins, pretty impressive. I forgot to ask her name but she signed my loyalty card as "shushby"... I can't really read her handwriting so it might not be her name haha.
