They provide extensive hair and beauty services, including eyebrow lightening which looks completely natural. Amy genuinely enjoys being a beautician and this is evident in the care and attention to detail shown in her work. They also did a top job on the make-up for a friend's wedding and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for this super important undertaking. Mens cuts start at 47 dollars, which is more than I normally pay to be honest, but it's sometimes worth the consultation with a stylist, and the added bonus of a shampoo/wash, which is a rare occasion for me (I'm a busy man). I understand they also provide services such as spa treatments, massages, pedicures / manicures, spray tans and more. However, I just settled for a haircut. They did a great job, and excelled in the small talk (even though I was half asleep). As an added bonus, they also gave me a discount, as it was my first visit, so I will probably go back.

Julie is an award winning beauty therapist who ran a variety of salons in the UK for 20+ years but now lives in Adelaide. Trust me a trip to visit her for a treatment or two and not only will your face and bod feel like a million bucks, you'll feel like you've known her for years. She has a really hearty laugh when you get her going. I've personally experienced facials, waxings and microdermabrasion treatments which make your face feel like you've just had it vacuumed. For me, walking into one of the treatment rooms is an automatic cue to relax and chill out for an hour or so. There are plenty more treatments on offer and Julie and her staff can make almost any body part look and feel attractive. Not that I've ever experienced it, but they do offer something called a Hollywood Lift that was big on Dr Phil a while back - they say it's the non-surgical equivalent of a facelift. Sounds good but a little on the scary side - I don't think I'm ready for a facelift or even facelift equivalent just yet. Facials, waxings and pedicures were once the sole domain of the girls but visit Diamond Clinic on Unley and you're going to see more than one guy visiting the salon ... and why shouldn't they! The salon itself is very clean and spacious and the music is so soothing. The microdermabrasion was fantastic, throughout the whole procedure Julie was extremely profession by guiding me through all the steps, what she was doing and in a friendly and non-pushy way she advised me of some of the products that would suit my face the best. I don't trust many people with my hair. Myself and Lell, a hairdresser I found when I had a big…read moremishap with a dye job at home. I walked in and two days later I was back to my natural blonde. I have followed Lell through various workplaces as she has strived to constantly learn (and this is a woman who had her own hair studio for 10 years but left because she wanted to spend more time to focus on learning more and less time on managing a business. I should also note that whenever I am not 100% about my hair she will fix it. SO onto MABE. The owners are lovely and really know their stuff. They won't lie or push you into anything. They pride themselves on doing what is best for the client and the clients hair health. So walking in, it's loud (the reason I'm not giving 5 stars) is something I truly dislike about hairdressing studios is the loud music they play. But I understand because these people are on their feet for hours and need too stay pumped. I was offered tea/coffee/snacks and of course the play with their in house dogs. So we talked about me needing a new look. I love keeping my hair long but after chatting to Lell and one of the owners we agreed I needed to get rid of my mermaid locks as they were so split and unhappy. I told them I wanted a perm as my natural wave has been lost after many bad bleach jobs (living overseas, in other states when I couldn't access Lell, among other things). They refused to do a perm because they had no training which I admire. Too many places are willing to use their clients as experiments and don't care how it damages the clients hair. However, and this is important, they sent me home with a list of places they recommended. Now I think we can all agree the worst part of getting your hair done is the wash. The water trickles down your neck reaching those uncomfortable places and by that time it's freezing. Sometimes it's set too hot or too cold. And your neck is always at an uncomfortable angle. At MABE the washing room is amazing. You sit in a recliner chair that massages your neck to the ankles while your 'dresser massages your head. I was so comfortable I could have fallen asleep, and I don't say that lightly because I HATE getting my hair washed at these these places (and of course the music was too loud for me to fall asleep on those amazing recliner massage chairs). So my head and neck were insanely comfortable and I got a quick 'massage' in as well. The place is wonderfully decorated. Would highly recommend to anyone who doesn't suffer from headaches or struggles with loud noise. Thanks LELL and MABE. Looking forward to our next session.

I booked in for the Delux Pamper Package (1 hour massage & 30 min facial) 1 1/2 hours just melted away and the head and foot massage took me off to another place - and I feel asleep during the body massage. The facial was bliss- and the products were nice and had a pleasant smell, and left the skin feeling light and smooth. The service was good and on leaving Mel advised they do season specials - which she did tell me about and I have to admit did rebook for a massage and scalp treatment!! I walked into this business not sure of what to expect and walked out with appointments in advance for next few months. I now have to break up with my previous Beauty Spa place as this place is divine bliss. The only negative thing is the room was a little cold for my liking but then again it was freezing outside as well. Overall was excellent service and would recommend even if it just a 30 min facial

I found myself a spot to sit took out my notebook and began writing up some reviews for some other places. As I sat there, I took a good look at every person who walked in the store, and tried to see how much more beautiful they were when they exited the store. For the most part, I couldn't find a discernible difference. I figured this was because they were getting something done with their nails. You know, they kind of 'enhancements' males never notice anyway. Then I saw a dude walk in. With a quick burst of bravery, I followed. And I got my nails done. I'm a chronic nail-biter, and the kindly lady the manicured me was horrified with what she saw, but, to her credit, my nails looked almost entirely unscarred by my nasty habit! So, I guess my grand message for this review is this: sometimes, chaps, it's okay to take a day out for yourself. You know, treat yourself. Make yourself feel pretty. Go for it. I did, and I might just do it again. (Just don't tell anyone.)
