I have gone to Dr. Zehr for about a year with hip pain from a tendon. I was not getting relief so we did an MRI where they found a complete tear in my gluteus minimus. When I went to my next appointment after the MRI he told me there was nothing he could do for me and that I would be walking with a cane. I went to another orthopaedic dr. where they told me 3 things they could do. And in 7 weeks I am 50% better. I would NOT recommend Dr Zehr. It is apparent he is only interested in high dollor hip and knee surgery. BEWARE. read more

Sorry, I can't leave a review because the office staff is so bad that I didn't get in after trying for weeks. First I did the online request for an appointment, was never contacted. Then I called, was put on hold for 10+ minutes and then was told I'd be called the next day. This was two weeks ago and I still haven't been called back. Very disappointing! read more

Dr Zehr replaced my hip on November 8th. I can't say enough wonderful things about the care and people I experienced! The office staff, Dr Zehr, radiology tech, PA, Seaside Surgical, all were fantastic and gave me great care. I had the surgery on a Wednesday and the following Monday I was at Publix walking every aisle without even a cane! I'm so glad I didn't have the surgery in NJ where I would have had months of hip precautions that I didn't need because of the anterior approach! read more

When I saw Dr Zehr because of hip pain, he suggested replacement, I had already replaced one hip with another doctors successfully. Dr Zehr bragged about how fast he is and how his scar is so much smaller than the other doctors. I had the surgery and it was successful except that I lost some feeling in my thigh. I knew this was a possibility because they have you sign a disclaimer that it could happen, even my other doctor had me do the same thing, even though I had no numbness from his surgery. It never went away as they said it might and I can't help but wonder if the speed of his surgery and the size of the scar had anything to do with the numbness that the surgery caused. Also, on my 5 year follow up that they suggested I asked if he would check both hips, and they refused, saying that they would only look at the hip he did surgery on. This office and doctor is running a factory, I would beware, I wont go to him again, even though I need knee surgery now. read more

Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The staff does not communicate to each other or their patients well. I had my surgery scheduled 6 weeks in advance, and they called me at 8pm the night before to cancel. I understand situations and emergencies arise, but they didn't even make an attempt to reschedule and literally told me to go elsewhere. Also, Dr Zehr is an owner of Seaside Surgery Center and they push you to use that facility even though it was going to be an additional $1500 out of pocket versus the hospital. The thought process behind that is so despicable and greedy. I feel bad for older clients that may not think it through and just take their advice. There are too many good orthopedic surgeons in the area to deal with this nightmare of an operation! PS, I went with Dr Steven Goldberg out of Physicians Regional and he was phenomenal. read more

May 20 th Dr Zehr and staff performed a successful hip replacement. All the pain that I used to have are completely gone . Followed Dr . Recommended post surgery rehab . And took it easy walking 2-3 miles every day, no running for 3 months. now a happy pain free active 75 year old guy playing golf 3 days a week. Running regime is active again with no pain. Dr. Zehr was my doctor for 12-years. I followed him when he left physicians regional and started his own practice. He was pleasant and kind.//I was out of town for a year and during that time saw another doctor for pain relief. I wasn't switching doctors. The younger doctor was also conservative but after a year, due to my constant pain and the fact that I was showing bone on bone on one side of the knee, he had offered me a partial knee replacement. I was in the process of moving back to Naples, so decided to wait to see Dr. Zehr.//The man I had known and trusted was no longer friendly and kind. Yes, I was given an injection (which lasts a week, and then you have to wait another two-months and three-weeks before you can get another injection.) He was sharp in his words, and patronizing. His TV commercial says he "...doesn't want his patients to be in pain..." He knew I was in pain! He told me that I should go back to the other dr if I didn't like his opinion. The other dr was over 10-hours away. The woman in his office who takes payments had the same attitude: "If you're not happy, find another doctor." So I did - at physicians regional. Met with the doctor in February and had my full knee replaced in May. I don't know if Dr. Zehr's 40+ years are wearing on him, or a medical condition in his family is affecting him personally (a situation that he had discussed with me when I first started seeing him,) but the doctor I saw again in 2018 was not the same doctor that I met in 2007. He knew my knee was giving out on me, causing me to fall. He knew that I was limping constantly. I was in pain 24/7. Oher than the injection, which did not last a week, he offered me no pain relief. And no empathy. I can appreciate being conservative, but this knee was controlling my life. I ALSO am dealing with a spouse who has a medical issue that adds great stress to my life, in addition to the knee pain that I'm experiencing. Telling me to go back to the other doctor - I wondered if he thought I saw someone else instead of him, which is why I told the woman who took my co-pay about his attitude, and how taken-aback I was. I was shocked that he told me to go back to the doctor five or six states away. Her answer was, "If you're not happy, you can find someone else." I have always found her to be distant and cold; she helped me make my decision. So I found another dr.//His receptionist and his nurse practitioner were very sweet to deal with, and were sympathetic. Dr. Zehr had a FU attitude when I saw him during the fall of 2018. After 12-years of a good relationship, I was stunned. I'm not sure if he's a good surgeon because all we did for 12-years was monitor the decline of my knee. It makes me sad because in addition to being excited about returning to Naples, I couldn't wait to see him to get some kind of relief for my knee pain. I left his office shell-shocked in the fall of 2018: there was no compassion, no kindness, and nothing of the 12-year relationship that we had built. read more

I had a total knee replacement on my right leg in January 2018. I was 73 years old and I put this surgery off for about twenty years. Dr. Zehr was the third physician I spoke with, and selecting him was one of the best decisions I ever made. Eleven days after surgery I quit all pain meds and started walking without a cane. There was some discomfort but not what I had imagined. I was able to drive a car within two weeks of surgery and I was very diligent about exercise and physical therapy. Now I walk at least three miles daily and ride a stationary bike with absolutely no pain. Dr. Zehr and his staff are the best. read more

I had a total hip replacement could not be happier with surgery and care. Everyone was kind and caring Dr Zehr did a fabulous job. Day of surgery I was up and walking returned home following day. Dr Zehr's office prepared me very well going over all the steps and process for the surgery and follow up Satisfied patients from my community referred me to this doctor and I feel blessed to have found him. I will never return nor refer anyone to this office and it really is a shame because Dr. Zehr is a very skilled doctor. To begin, they were running 30 minutes behind and before I even got to see the doctor they wanted me to take xrays. I questioned why diagnostics were being ordered before I even saw the doctor nor had I even explained my injury to them. They said because they had nothing on file for me. Well that makes sense because I was a new patient. When I refused the xray until I saw the doctor the nurse very rudely informed me if I saw the doctor and he needed xrays I would have to reschedule because he was running behind. She rolled her eyes at me and told me to go back to the waiting room and she would talk to the doctor. About 15 mins later I was called back and put in a examination room where Dr. Zehr came and did a physical examination. I told him that I had this knee pain for over 2 years and it had gotten to the point where at times it was very painful to walk. I informed him that I was a figure skater and a previous doctor diagonosed my pain as IT syndrome. After examination he said it was probably a torn lateral meniscus disc not IT band syndrome and that he would send me to get an MRI to see how bad the tear was. I was then immediatley sent out to the billing specialist. Dr. Zerh did nothing to address the pain or give me any instructions on what I should or should not do to reduce the risk of any further damage. I left with the assumption that I can continue my skating and activities as long as i can tolerate it. Once with the billing specialist, she informed me they only schedule with a particular diagnostic company in town and proceeded to schedule my MRI with them while I sat there. I left that office in no better shape than went I went in. As for addressing my pain and activity level I'm left turning to the Internet for advise as to what activities I should and should not do to keep from further damaging and/or aggravating my knee. I am glad I did refuse the xrays because they weren't needed and I saved myself from paying for unnecessary charges. Needless to say I will be following up with a different doctor. One where the office is polite, conscientious of the cost of their services and where I can choose where I want to go for further testing being that I am the one who pays the bill at the end of the day. I called around for quotes for a MRI and where they were sending me for the was the most expensive in town, again showing total disregard for the bills that I have to pay for services. I do again want to reiterate that Dr. Zehr is a excellent doctor and if you can get past his rude staff and you don't mind or have the money to squander then maybe this office is the right place for you. I am a hard working middle class mother whom expects polite professionalism for the high costs of my healthcare. read more

I had total hip replacement surgery in January, 2017, performed by Dr. Zehr at Seaside Surgery. I am an active 66 year old, and could not be happier with Dr.Zehr, the facility, and the outcome. Mine was an outpatient procedure at Seaside. I went in at 8 a.m., and left the facility at around 2 p.m. The physical therapist came to my home at 4 that same afternoon! I continued with the in-home PT visits for about three weeks. I used a walker for just one day after surgery, before advancing to a cane, starting with short, 100 yard walks, and progressing steadily for the next several months, working up to 4 miles of walking. I was also swimming regularly and riding my bike at around 6 weeks post surgery. During that time, I continued with the PT regimen on my own at home. Follow up appointments with Zehr's staff were easily scheduled, and my questions and concerns were readily addressed. After 6 months, I had returned to normal activities. Though I continued to experience occasional discomfort, it was relatively mild, and required no pain medication whatsoever, not even Tylenol. Thereafter, my hip continued to improve gradually but steadily. At one year post surgery, I'd say my hip function was 85%, whereas prior to surgery it had declined to about 20%. After a year and a half, my hip functionality was 100%, and I expedienced only occasional (once or twice a week?) mild discomfort; never requiring any OTC meds. Approaching 2 years post surgery, I now very rarely even think about my hip, which, considering the pain and limitations that I endured prior to surgery, is absolutely amazing. Unlike previous reviewer I found Dr. Zehr , as well as his staff to be extremely professional. I had a knee replacement and all options were clearly explained. The procedure was performed at The Seaside Surgery Center and the staff there also was extremely professional. Dr. Zehr is one of several surgeons who "own" the Center and the option to have procedure performed there clearly was the wiser choice as hospitals have a harder time controlling airborne bacterias. Unfortunately there is a negative review on here from a S. Burke, he has a bashing review of our office and our exceptional team. The Zehr Center for Orthopaedics prides ourselves with our relationships with our patients and Dr. Zehr's exceptional surgical skills. If an emergency does arise where we would need to re-schedule a patient and the patient needs surgery asap and we cannot accommodate them on our schedule, then we would refer that patient to one of our colleagues. We did the best we could in an emergent situation and had referred this patient to our colleage Dr. Goldberg who is also a partner of ours at the Seaside Surgery Center. We work with all of our patients and their Insurance companies with any surgery that is performed at our surgery center. Our patients are our first concern when it comes to their care. We would hope that Mr. Burke S would understand that certain things are beyond our control and we are happy that he had a great outcome with our referral to Dr. Goldberg. read more
