I too was not impressed by the communication and skill at this facility. There are much better pain management doctors.

I was referred to George Arcos by my GP at Korunda because of lower back pain. A prior MRI had…read moreshown moderate lumbar stenosis. Dr. Arcos decided that a shot in the SI joint would solve my pain, and he gave it to me at Korunda's surgery center a week later. It did zero good. During the follow-up three weeks later, Dr. Arcos ordered an MRI. The MRI showed severe stenosis in my lumbar....a "tiny" 2mm opening at the L4-L5. Still at that point, once I got up and moving in the mornings, I could walk the dog and be okay. However, Arcos said my next step should be an epidural for such a severe case. A week later Arcos gave me an epidural truly from hell. I screamed and I cried as Arcos evidently shot dye and med through that tiny opening. His nurse as she was wheeling me out said it was "traumatic." No one seems to understand exactly what happened, but after the numbing med wore off, it was like living the epidural from hell all over again. I could not get out of bed...any movement shot lightning bolts through my back and down my legs and I would fall back in bed. I couldn't get through to Arcos (Korunda's policy is terrible about communication.....no telemedicine at all). His staff said to go to the ER. Not being able to get out of bed, I called 911 and ended up getting a series of steroids...which at least got me to the point of getting up. Two months later, I am still in terrible shooting nerve pain from that epidural from hell. I've changed GPs to get out of Korunda completely. I'm on a hefty dose of Lyrica for the nerve pain which has its own problems. I'm exploring surgery and mustered up the courage to go to another recommended pain management doctor. He shook his head and said as small as that opening is, no one should EVER attempt to shoot medicine through it. He will give the shot below that vertebrae two days from now. Fingers crossed. George Arcos has a big personality and talks a good game, but in my opinion do not let him perform any kind of procedure on your body.

Sometimes we don't give enough credit to the office staff. So, this is an update. It may not seem like a big deal to anyone but me; however, I am always grateful when people go out of their way to help someone even when they are busy!

I had the first appointment of the day. it was at 9:00 am and i never saw the Dr. until 10:00 am. She was at the hospital and fell behind. It's too bad no one told me this. Dr. Sanchez needs to find someone who can run a business and turn the office over to them. She needs to concentrate on practicing medicine and stop running the business. Even with all of the really good people she has the practice is in chaos. Dr. Sanchez needs to let someone develop a business structure so these good people can provide quality care. 8/10/16 Update: As you might notice I was not very happy after last visit. I made arrangements to transfer my case to Naples Community Hospital. Right now I couldn't be more pleased. NCH is customer friendly. Just the patient intake alone is amazing. I probably waited too long to make the change but switching to a new practice is a really huge deal. I'm just glad I finally did it. I would only add that even NCH isn't perfect but it's a huge improvent over Dr. Sanchez's office.
