Do not go here. My story isn't one from someone who only went once or had some billing issue. I've…read morebeen there four times. This place is a nightmare. The first time I went, it was the first time I went to a dentist in 15 years. I was fully prepared for the worst. In fact, I knew there was work to be done. They did some x-rays and when the dentist came in, he proclaimed that my teeth were in excellent shape! Nothing to be done! I knew he was wrong, but I kind of convinced myself to believe him. I went back for a cleaning six months later. That's where they found eight cavities. The lady that checked me out tried to tell me about how sometimes people have perfect teeth and then suddenly get a bunch of cavities. No, don't treat me like an idiot. I made appointments for the fillings. The first one seemed fine. I refuse to see that original dentist that couldn't find my cavities, but the other seemed great. The first appointment was for two fillings. For weeks, I've been in constant pain. I've gone through so much ibuprofen you wouldn't believe it. I called to make another appointment to get it checked out and had to wait over a week, but whatever. I went back in to get it fixed and get a couple more fillings. They did the fillings and nothing to fix the tooth that's had me in constant pain for four weeks. The dentist told me that it's normal to feel hot and cold sensitivity for a whole, even though I said repeatedly that hot and cold sensitivity wasn't the problem I was having. She said I should have gotten a root canal then, literally as I was about to leave. I went there to get that one tooth fixed, and they just sort of didn't listen to my issue. Don't go there. They're just bad dentists. I know if you don't go to the dentist, you might think, how bad could they be? I don't need anything fancy. They can be this bad.

I've only been seen Dr. Nick once but I can say that he was also very personable and took the time to address my concerns. The hygienist Ellen and receptionist Kim are the absolute best! I always walk in and out of this office in such a good mood and I always look forward to seeing everyone there. I could have payed right then but thought it was unscrupulous thing to have me show up and then shake me down like that. At least they could have called beforehand and inform me that I would have to pay my balance before any more treatment. I would have been fine with that and if I was unable to afford the outstanding balance, rescheduled. I did go back and paid in full a few weeks later. Not returning to their practice.

I had to reschedule twice once for a normal conflict, and once because my husband had a serious accident. Instead of showing any understanding, the office insisted that I pre-pay the entire visit before being seen and made it clear they would not budge. When my husband called to clarify whether this was a one-time requirement or standard policy, the staff member said, "The doctor will decide that," which suggested they had already labeled me as unreliable. The tone was rigid and dismissive from start to finish. What makes this even more disappointing is that we were planning to pursue additional cosmetic dentistry with this office clearly not a small investment but even that didn't shift their attitude. It felt like the front desk was more interested in enforcing punishment than providing patient-centered care. We ultimately chose to take our business elsewhere. I hope the practice becomes aware of how their staff's approach impacts both patient trust and long-term business.

During my first, consultative visit I got a sales pitch while literally seated in the dental chair. They tried to get me to commit to what the dentist had just told me was an un necessary root canal. The reason for my visit was a cracked tooth, which needs a crown (I'm now scheduled for this procedure at Riverhead Family Dentistry on Thursday of this week) I should have followed my gut instinct to leave, but I let laziness get the better of me as I had already filled out paperwork for my dental insurer. I called to schedule my crown procedure and got another sales pitch for a root canal, which I declined. Then...the fun started! Multiple text messages and confirmations daily. After a dozen txt messages and a half dozen calls, I finally pushed back and asked to stop being harassed. My complaint was parried with the following response "if you want to keep your appointment, you'll need to pay 50% or $700 when you arrive. Do you want to keep the appointment or not?" Wow. I do not. I may, however, go back to see The creepy Beatles display. I'll admit it was interesting.

After searching dental offices allowed by our insurance and checking online reviews, we decided to move our dental care to this Distinctive Dentistry. Wow, I'm so glad we did. Starting with the office staff , attentive friendly and on top of the insurance and billing and appointments. Taylor was my hygienist, and Dr Zerbo worked on both of us. The dental assistants were great. Both of us can wholeheartedly recommend this practice. Top notch. Clean office and equipment, Great care by everyone. We will be back !
