My husband & I had our 1st pottery class with Joseph. It was such a great experience. Highly recommend for date night, family event & so much more. We would definitely go back. We had a ton of fun and lots of laughter.

We had an amazing experience taking the 1 hour wheel pottery class here. You know the kind of pottery class like in the movie Ghost with Swazye and Moore. We both had never taken a pottery class before and our instructor Monique, guided us well. I would recommend it for beginners looking to try pottery! They don't tell you what to make. We were able to make something useful from the ball of clay that was given. They show you the basics and we were each able to make a bowl and decorate it. You must email them in 2 weeks to see if your piece is dried in the kiln. Then, for additional charge you can paint it or glaze it. Be sure to make it on time. We were late the first time. One of us was coming from Queens and the other from the Bronx, and to get here it is the last stop on the 5 train. We didn't make it since there was a lot of problems on the trains on the weekend. There is a 50$ reschedule fee per person. We will go again to paint our pieces.

Took wife for a ceramics throwing class. Joseph is a great teacher. All materials were there and he broke it down with a lesson plan, goals, and wrap up. Classes are small enough that you can ask questions and get help. They even had another teacher pop in just in case other people came.

Can I give Zelda's 10 stars? Specifically for Monique.. Monique was such a great instructor. Patient, kind and very hands on. She got me a stand to hold my phone while I recorded my piece, my piece became too thin and fell apart, she allowed me to start over even with barely any time left in the class, she even got the 2nd piece started for me while I got myself cleaned up. I can't wait to go back to finish up.

Pretty cool art supply store there similar to Blick art supply store (Utrecht art) or Michael's art supply store. but there more of a local business family-orientated business. there remind me of " pearl art supply store " that used to be on canal street in Chinatown in the early 2000's but unfourtnely there went out of business !!!!. anyhow Zelda's art world there has a lot of art supply stuff in here and I wouldn't mind coming back, and plus their offer art ceramics classes as well !!!! P.S. I wish you could order online and ship all over !!!! very convenient by the MTA transportation: subway: 2,5-Train. Flatbush Avenue (Last stop), Near Brooklyn College bus: B44, B41,etc buses

This is Bonnie our instructor! She is super encouraging and helpful.

Bonnie was soooooo encouraging for first time pottery! She has the energy of a goddess! My art was not the best but she made me feel like Picasso for a 1 hour class my clay knowledge has increased immensely. I will definitely be back .... I plan on making this a group event with my friend next ! This is great for all ages ! Be prepared to get dirty and have lots of fun

    Coolest place in Brooklyn.

For Christmas my kids wanted a family day doing pottery. I called Zelda's Art World and booked an appointment. Steven was our instructor. I have to commend him. He is knowledgeable, patient, and supportive. His background is very impressive as well. He definitely won me over. I can't wait to see him again. I am looking forward to part 2, glazing. I am interested in booking the hand building pottery class next. And possibly, doing a home party. I strongly believe that if you are looking to make memorable experiences with your family. This is the best way to do it. Invest in your time with your children. Make you children well rounded. Try something new.

Zelda's is the only art supply store near Brooklyn College and fantastic if you need something in a pinch. The employees are super helpful, the atmosphere is relaxed and they offer classes for ceramics and painting on the side. They have a wide selection of brushes and paints. It is a small store, so don't expect the type of choices that you might see at Blick or Utrecht (or whatever conglomerate those two merged into). I think the best part about Zelda's is the sale items and imported items that you won't see at other stores. I picked up a set of Russian pan watercolors that I'd never seen before and some loose tube watercolors that were $0.99 each. Also, they had soft-grip paintbrushes that were high quality for $1.99. The prices are slightly higher on some items than you'd find in a major retailer, but that is to be expected with any small business. I don't mind paying a little more when I know I am supporting the only art store in our area.

Actually if Jesus returned and said, "Hey maybe no full time carpenter this time around, maybe I'll take it easy and just frame art" - then that's who'd Dennis would be bc that's the qualitative level of his work. And what's better is he prices his work like CRAZY EDDIE - his prices are just INSANE - it's almost like getting it done for FREE! I had 5 copies of an 8x10 that I wanted to frame and give as gifts. I live in Red Hook so I went to the closest - "Make a Frame" over on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble hill - who priced me at $174.00 for just one - and no discount on five!!! At those prices maybe they do have Jesus framing, but some how I doubt it. So searched Yelp again and found Brooklyn Art who priced me at $20.00 each!!!! INSANE! Why would I pay $154.00 more - on each one! - over at M.A.F.? I doubt there would've been that much of a qualitative difference noticeable to the eye. Just take a look at the pic I've attached - a beautiful job! I got all 5 done for $100. Great quality and turn around was just as insane. Dennis had done in just a few days. I'm sure Van Gogh would give his left ear, if he still had it, to have his works framed at Brooklyn Art - and you should too, but Dennis only takes cash & credit cards so the good news is you can walk out with both your ears, however if you go to that place on Atlantic avenue it could cost you and arm and leg - HEY OH!

It was handed down to my husband from his parents, who received it from their church in Mexico before they left for the US. It isn't an expensive piece of art but it holds a tremendous amount of value and significance to us. Rather than treating me and the crucifix as a transaction, Jeff took the time to hear the story of the piece and was extremely genuine, helpful, and patient every step of the way - from choosing a frame, matting, and glass to cover the piece. He was very professional, but more importantly, he was very personable and it felt like working with an old friend! I read a recent review on here that mentioned the shop was "completely locked and closed on 11/24." My appointment to see Jeff was that same day and I had no problems at all. Being that there's a pandemic and it's a relatively small shop, you do have to give Jeff a call when you arrive outside, and there's a sign on the building that clearly says that with his number. Personally, I appreciated this, and that Jeff is doing everything to keep his customers safe. Not sure why that would be upsetting to someone - but I'm all about that level of precaution. If I wanted to feel questionable about shopping and risking my health, I'd visit Florida (Floridians... I'm joking!) Long story short, if you're on this Yelp page trying to figure out where to get your pieces framed, rest assured that your journey ends here. Do yourself a favor and reach out to Jeff. He's very pleasant to work with, great at what he does, and good for some laughs. I'll definitely be recommending him to everyone I know!
