After five years of intermittently thinking about getting my degrees and awards properly framed, I started to investigate the process, the offerings and the pricing. It's not easy anticipating the look of your current and future likely office decors and it certainly isn't easy for someone without an artistic eye to discern what combination of frame, mat (or double matting as mine ended up) will look classy, timeless and dignified. Artie Warren's was one of the three shops at which I considered having the work done. The family who founded and continue to operate this framing shop (for over 30 years - maybe even much longer) make it so much easier. Instead of becoming overwhelmed by the vast array of options, they take time with you expanding and contracting the field of options, offering advice as it is necessary and/or they see a possibly regrettable decision unfolding. Since they've done it all, they know what colors and styles and frame thicknesses have which effects upon the subject piece and which color combinations will serve to enhance the presentation. Chad and his team guided me to a framing job that I'm very happy with. It took a little over a week from the time that I delivered the items (which needed flattening after being tube stored for years) and left a reasonable deposit to having my items back framed perfectly with neat and precise cuts of the mats, pristine joints of the custom frames, etc. Based upon my experience with them, if you know what you want, they've got it and will do a highly professional and reasonably priced job for you. If you need guidance, they're patient and there to help you at every step. I am thrilled with the eight pieces that I had done in matching frames and double mats (double because of the gold accent that I ended up really, really liking). I met Chad for non-frame related purchase; I bought an amp for my son who plays the guitar, I drove out from Queens to pick up this amp way out in Brooklyn, cuz a mother will do almost anything for her kids. Chad was absolutely awesome, he even helped load the amp into my car. I ordered a frame online and needed to assemble it, so Chad(the owner) asked me to email him pics of the frame first in order to understand whether he is able to do it since he didn't want me to make an extra trip in case it didn't fit . In addition to quality work, Artie's features a good selection of moldings, fast turn-around and competitive pricing. Wooden molding naturally comes with small warps that make perfect corners on a detailed frame a challenge. Not a problem for Chad who used the skills of an old-world craftsman and his well equipped studio to quickly deliver a frame that was a work of art in itself.
