I visited Zen Nail Lounge for the first time this past weekend. I needed a last-minute nail appointment and my previous salon wasn't giving me the results I wanted. I have a few friends that are regulars at Zen, so I took their word for it and searched for a new nail tech. It was a bit difficult at first to schedule with this salon because they have an online scheduling portal. However, once you make an account it is super easy to book! I can't emphasize enough how last minute this appointment was and I was very thankful to get in on such short notice. I booked the last time slot of the evening, about 30 minutes before the appointment time, and ran over there. I wish I had a before photo of my nails because they were quite rough. The nail tech, I didn't catch his name (I believe he is the owner), did a wonderful job transforming my nails from drags to riches. Overall, my experience was very pleasant and comfortable. My nail color and shape ended up beautiful. I was given the choice of a beverage (of course I chose wine) which made my experience even more enjoyable! When it comes to COIVD concerns, the salon space is a bit tight but the techs I saw were very compliant with masks and social distancing restrictions. Was pretty bummed with my recent experience here. First of all, they contacted me less than an hour before my appointment asking to reschedule it for later that day, which I agreed to. Regardless, I waited over an hour for my nails to be worked on once I arrived. Don't come here unless you have all day to wait around, I was at the salon for over 3 hours for a basic pedicure and dip manicure (and I had an appointment)... I got a french dip manicure, which I thought would be pretty straightforward. As you can kind of see in the photos, there was a lot of weird texture and bubbles on my nails. From a distance they looked okay, but even my sisters commented on how bad they looked and that they shouldn't have bubbles and texture. The nail tech also did not pay any attention to my cuticles whatsoever. As I write this 2 weeks later, nearly all of my nails have chipped or broken. Usually when I get a dip manicure elsewhere, it can last 4 weeks without even chipping. Considering the price point, I am super disappointed and would not spend my money here again. read more

Disappointing experience! I booked a mani/pedi through Zen Nail Lounge's online booking system; I received four or five text messages from the salon: confirmation, reminders, check-in, etc. with very explicit instructions about the appointment. Fine, but once in the salon, though they seemed busy, they took at least three walk-in appointments while I was there. Furthermore, my technician doing my pedicure rushed through the pedicure, skipped doing the callous removal, which I paid extra for so she could get to her 'regular' client who apparently came in on the wrong day for her appointment. The woman doing my manicure was okay, though inexperienced. This salon seems more concerned about volume of customers, than providing high quality services. read more

Tried a new nail salon last week. This place had great reviews and right down the road from us. Lots of great things about this place but one major con... Pros: easy online booking, text reminders, easy parking, great color selection, polite. Based on all this I would have given it 5 stars. BUT One big con: I got a gel mani and within two days, it started chipping. Within a week, the polish was flaking off in chunks. I don't know enough about the gel polish to know what causes this, but I have never ever had this happen. For this alone I would give a one star. For $37 + tip I would expect it to last more than two days. Unfortunately I don't see myself going back. P.S. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Walked in at 10AM to just simply have my dip polish removed. I sat with the acetone wrapped on my fingers for 45 minutes - no one would help. I ended up having to remove them myself and when they said to just wait for them, I told them I didn't have anymore time to wait as I had been there already for an hour. She told me I could remove the cotton leftover on my hands and the melted gel still stuck to my fingers myself with cuticle oil - it absolutely did not work. Will absolutely be back. Went in for dip set with tips added and it ended up being -55$ very reasonable I think! My friend recommended it to me as the best nail place in the broad ripple area. My whole appointment lasted only 45 minutes and he did an amazing job. The bathroom is very clean (not a storeroom like some establishments). And the nails turned out so cute, even and well shaped. I wanted to get a pedicure and decided to give this spot a try. I was blown away by the friendly employees and very clean practices. My husband and I made an appointment online and arrived 10 mins before. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. I also received a text message to check in 15 mins prior. I love a good mani pedi! Lots of local mommas were raving about this place on the Midtown Parents Facebook Group so I decided to give them a try. Good choice! My fave things: - Amazing selection of colors and options. I'm a plain 'old mani pedi gal but they've got gel and all of the other latest & greatest options. -Massage chairs that work well. It can be a bummer to sit down for a pedi in a broken massage chair, but these appear to be new and in working order! -Free parking in the back. -A complimentary glass of wine, soda, water or beer. -Book in-line or over the phone. And I suggest this because they do book up! The thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is because the owner did my pedi and took 6 calls during my service. I am a regular customer and won't be returning. I got my nails done on Thursday and have sores on the lower part of my nails from the tool digging into my skin. I gave zen a try after reading the good yelp reviews. I agree that is lives up to what others are saying! I made an appointment online 24 hours before (which was needed since they were almost packed at 9:30 am!). Online booking was very easy, quick, and user friendly. Free parking in the back was plentiful, a huge perk not to deal with the meters or garages in Broadripple. When I came in, staff was not overly friendly but was not rude. I felt the gel polish selection was more than enough, I had no difficulty finding a color! They took me only 5 mins late for the appointment, which I thought was great since at other salons it's like appointments don't really matter. I felt that my manicurist took her time and regularly checked in to make sure I liked the nail length, shape, and color, which I appreciated! About half way through a neighboring manicurist they offered me a drink after he offered the girl next to me one. I declined since it was so early, but would absolutely appreciate it later in the day! It did feel a little weird that my manicurist didn't offer but I didn't think too much of it. Total for a gel was $30, a little bit more than some places in the area but a good, clean overall experience. It's only been 1 day since having the manicure but so far everything is looking good, clean, and polished. Hopefully it lasts like the others have said! I typically don't like to leave negative-ish reviews. But I honestly would go somewhere else for a dip manicure. The staff was super nice and accommodating, but this falls on the lower end of the quality spectrum for me. My cuticles bled from the sanding, and the first normal top coat was not shiny at all, so I requested a gel top coat (which I typically get). But the paint was still a bit rough and bumpy. It felt very rushed, and I was really looking forward to liking this place! Perhaps it's a one off. Again, nothing against the staff but I really cannot recommend a dip manicure here based on my experience. read more

So my first time there...pedicure was fine, however when it came to my gel manicure it was not good...first he filed my nails at an angel, I had to ask for the file and file my nails my self...then when he did the gel...no nail dehydrator and primer...which is a first for me, because every nail salon I have been to that uses nail dehydrator and primer my gel nails last literally 4 weeks...then the polish...which was applied extremely thick...my thumb didn't dry enough and had to do that all over again...then got home and my thumb and index finger began to lift...not happy at all...now I have to go out of my way to got back up there tomorrow to get this fixed...$80 well spent ‍ ***REVISED**** So after my review, Ricky personal reached out to me, which was great customer service..I went back to get my nails fixed, Ricky did a phenomenal job and I am extremely pleased with me nails now...THANK YOU SO MUCH RICKY AND ANDREA... read more

I was referred to this salon by a friend of mine as we had both been having issues getting into our regular salon. I set an appointment a few days in advance to see Ricky for dipping powder and a gel toenail polish change. I got to the salon at 2:10 for my 2:15 appointment and signed in. There was 1 person waiting with an appointment (2:00) and another walk in that came in right after me. I was greeted, asked what I needed and told to have a seat. No one showed me the nail colors for the dip or gel. Someone came over to the 3 of us waiting about 3 minutes later and informed the girl with the other appointment that Ricky was running late (reminder that I set my appointment with Ricky) and had me come sit at a table with someone else. I stated then that I had gel polish on my toes and needed a polish change on my toes. The nail tech in front of me then asked what I was needing (this was my third time explaining what I had already set an appointment for so I'm starting to get frustrated by this point). I explained what I was wanting to the nail tech and she proceeded to tell me that it couldn't be done. I visit my regular salon every 3 weeks and get a fill of clear dipping powder and a gel top coat for the color. She asks the girl next to her and that nail tech proceeds to ask me "are you sure it's not acrylic?" To which I answer that I've been getting the dip for 3 years and am sure it's not acrylic. They then get Ricky on the phone and he says to wait for him and he'll look at it. Once he got there, he looked at my nails and said he could do what I was asking for. 20 minutes after my appointment time, my nails were finally getting worked on. Once I was in Ricky's chair, all went well. He's very good at what he does and took extra care. I loved the shape of my nails and the overall appearance but I definitely wasn't impressed with the service of the rest of the salon. However, I'm always willing to give a place 2 chances as everyone can have an off day. They do have wine/beer service which is a plus and gave out a small Christmas gift when you left. Still undecided if I'll stick with my regular salon or make the switch. Time will tell. read more

1st visit - I tried this place over the summer as it looked very nice and had wonderful reviews. I booked online with the owner but when i arrived, I was given Kristol. Initially she was very nice. The experience was less than pleasant as I swear my fingers were being torn apart. The tools hit my skin multiple times and not only did I flinch but I jumped every time. My dip never lasted long. I vowed not to come back after that. Fast forward to this fall when I decided to give them a try again after having numerous issues with gel polish. I initially had a fill and tried gel again here. Within 12 hours my nails were peeling again. I contacted Ricky/Andrea and they asked me to come back in and agreed to fix the situation by doing new acrylic. After Ricky removed my old acrylic, two different girls sitting next to me had convinced me to maybe try dip again this time. Ricky offered to do this for me after me changing my mind a few times. We cut my nails down and went to a square shape. My nails look fantastic. They have held up wonderfully and it's been 10 days. Ricky truly provided great customer service in this scenario and by providing me with an entirely different service to fix the situation. That was enough to come back. I decided to try out Zen Nail lounge based on their previous reviews, their later hours and the proximity to my house. It was so easy for me to make a reservation right here on the Yelp! App. I received a quick reply and I was excited for my first visit. I get my nails done often, and I've tried many different salons in the Indy area. I was really disappointed in my experience. Firstly, it's important to note the parking situation. There was a concert happening next door at the Vogue and parking was impossible. I had to settle parking in the garage across the street and paying. I arrived right on time, but I think they had me wait for my friend to arrive. The shop was small but clean. They had a wide variety of colors to choose from. Once seated, my nail tech was polite and asked me how I liked the shape of my nails. When she started working on them was when the trouble happened. I've never experience a more painful manicure. She applied way too much pressure on my nails when scraping my cuticles. I even told her twice that it was hurting me, can she lighten up. She kind of just looked at me and apologized, but continued. Her buffing sponge also must have been brand new. It was way too rough and scratchy on the ends and scraped my fingers with every swipe. Again, I told her it hurt. The final step, once my nails were done, was a hot towel. And man is it HOT. I had to ask her 3 times to take it off of me because it was too hot. When she removed it the final time my hands were bright red. The towel was steaming so much even my friend commented. My nails look fine. The color is beautiful and the length is great. I did however, leave the store bleeding. I don't understand what happened. It hurt way too much for me to give any higher review. I'd be willing to give this shop another chance, as my friend didn't experience as much pain as I did. Just beware if you're sensitive. read more

This place is great and Andrea is the BEST!! They always make sure I'm taken care of and happy with my nails, asking me a few times throughout my visit if I like them so far. Drinks are included (including wine and beer!), which is always an added bonus. The salon is always very clean and managed well. If I can't find the color I am looking for someone is always happy to help. Not only is Zen incredibly clean, but they've clearly gone out of their way to think of every detail. The result is a luxurious experience. They have 6 chairs for manicures, 8 pedicure massage chairs, and they use liners in the bowls. Also, all of the products they use go into disposable cups - way more sanitary than other places I've been (eek!). At the end of my girlfriend's manicure they lathered her hands in lotion from a *lotion warmer* and then wrapped her hands/arms in hot towels. Niiiice! The owner states that they have 3,000 nail colors - soooo many options. We got there right at 11 on a Sunday (when they open) and had no wait, but the place filled up quickly.
