Cute nail salon in broad ripple! Just moved to the area and had trouble finding a good nail salon, until I came across Zen! Small shop but nicely decorated and well kept. They have TONS of polishes to choose from it's overwhelming in a good way. Just a gel mani and pedi and the tech took her time and did my nails perfectly. I learned that each nail tech does the pedicures in different orders. Someone explained that to me (maybe ricky?) and it made a lot more sense why my sugar scrub was applied after my gel polish! Went here today as I could not get into my regular nail place due to my schedule. The place was cute and had quite a bit of business. However, they do take appointments so there were not a lot of people waiting and I was seen quickly. The stations had nice chairs and I like that there was something for you to rest your wrist on while getting your nails done instead of just the counter. My nails looked pretty good when I was done, and she did a nice job of shaping them once I had her cut them down. The only reason I did not give five stars is because there were not many color options for gel polish, as they seemed to have mostly dip. read more

It was exactly what I wanted. The color I chose was natural and perfect. Another woman came over and asked if I was the one who called to make the appointment and I confirmed so she thanked me for allowing them to gain my business which I thought was pretty amazing. My nails chipped after a week (normally they last 2.5-3 weeks without chipping.) while the atmosphere was very "zen" they were playing old 80s rock music. Before I'd been to Zen, I had seen many negative reviews on Yelp but given the variety of services they offer, I was curious to check it out. I have been to Zen Nail Lounge four times between June 2020 and now, and have had different technicians and feel more confident in reviewing them. They're located in the Broad Ripple area, and have a hidden parking on the back side of the salon. Google Maps will take you there if you look for their salon. Ricky and Andrea, the owners, are very invested in the salon and are often the ones checking in clients. All technicians have their assigned spots for providing manicure and pedicure services, and they are very thorough in their cleaning/disinfection between clients (COVID times have made this such a priority). They offer dipping powder which not many nail salons in this area offer and have a great selection of colors. Same goes for their gel and regular nail color selections! They offer many different types of scrubs and masques for pedicures which feels like such a luxury and their prices are pretty comparable to other sub-standard nail salons I have tried in the downtown Indianapolis/Broad ripple area. They have a good online scheduling system too. When my sister was visiting me, we went for a girls' manicure day and unfortunately, even upon request and availability of spots, the technicians weren't able to seat us together. I'd booked the appointment for both of us together so I was hoping they will be able to accommodate this request, hence I'm taking off 1 star. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in need for some pampering. It is full value for money! read more

Stopped by this afternoon for an impromptu birthday manicure at the recent recommendation of a friend. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the service I was provided today and am unsure if I will be back. The Good: I came in without an appointment and was immediately greeted by (I believe) one of the owners. She was very pleasant and friendly. Answered a couple of my questions and got me back to a chair within a couple of minutes. She also offered me a drink (they have complimentary wine!) which I initially declined to but they were more than happy to pour me a glass when I changed my mind because #yolo. The pricing is reasonable and the salon is clean and well decorated. I had a brief interaction with the other owner and he was also very friendly. The Bad: After I was directed to my station, another woman came to take care of me. She never introduced herself but there were business cards that said Kristal so I am assuming that is her name. From the start, she seemed annoyed at my very presence. I said "hello" and asked how she was. Her response was very clipped. There may have been a language barrier here however even after I stopped trying to talk to her we still had poor interactions. She rushed through my entire manicure and was just really rough. The hand/arm massage at the end lasted all of 45 seconds and again was just rough and jerky. It wasn't a relaxing experience whatsoever. The room is pretty dark so when she showed me my nails I thought they were fine. However, upon further inspection there is polish all over my fingers and uneven edges on others. All in all, the owners seem like genuinely lovely people and the salon is nice. I get the feeling, based on watching their interactions with other customers, that I would have had a much better experience if I'd had one of them. There are so many great reviews on this place that maybe I just caught my tech on a bad day and she wasn't at her best -- we allhave days like that. And for that reason, if I could give a half rating I'd probably bump this up to 2.5 stars but based on today's experience and then the way my nails turned out I can't justify moving it up to 3. If my nails last awhile I may be inclined to come back and just see someone else. If so, I'd happily update my review if the experience is improved. We'll see. Otherwise, I'd probably suggest sticking with one or the other many nail studios in the area such as BR Nails or Lotus. read more

Ehhh....they are supposed to last longer but I would have gels after this experience is over. Just the thickness is a lot for me. Helen listened to my concerns and welcomed my feedback which was nice. I asked for an ombré frenchtip because I'm in the military and have regulations to follow. I LOVE this place. I have been twice now and will be returning next week. They take appointments over the phone and online, which makes it really easy to just walk in and have someone ready to help you. I called on a Thursday to make an appointment on the following Saturday for a mani-pedi for two and they fit me in no problem. My only complaint is that the nail artist assigned to me was on her break when I got there, so my process was a solid 15 minutes behind my friend. It would have been nice to sit next to her for my mani considering I made an appointment two days prior. I get gel, and they kindly add an extra layer of base as per my request which I really appreciate. They have a great diagram on the walls of nail shapes too, which makes the process of telling them exactly what you want so much easier. They have an insanely large array of colors, brands, and gel colors. They also have a huge collection of dip powder colors too. The best part is, they offer you a free drink with your appointment! They have sodas, water, beer, and wine. A truly high-end touch, and it really adds to the experience. I decided to try a new nail salon - IDK why, mine is great.. and am disappointed in every way. First, every nail was cut entirely too short. I had just stopped biting my nails in November and had grown them out since - I'm back to almost where I started. Each nail has something wrong with it from bubbles, to see through, to smudges. My pinky nail was filed to entirely crooked, idk how long it'll take to grow out and fix. My two ring fingers were supposed to be a gold color. They are two different gold colors. When she was doing the final coat on my right hand, she grabbed the gold color she put on my toes, so it's different than my other ring finger. When I told her about any of the issues, she just stared at me and giggled. I will never go back. Update - now, 7.5 hours later - because of the aggressive and excessive skin removal around my nails, the tips of some of my fingers are extremely sensitive m, unfortunately she did my pedicure too, and i can feel the same sensitivity on my big toes. I'm shocked at the amount of good reviews for this place :( unfortunately, that's how I chose where I would be going for my "relaxing" mani/pedi An additional update, now just a few days later. Ricky, who I have seen has great reviews on here called and offered to make it right, so that is much appreciated, however my pointer nail is already peeling, so I am not confident in going back and having it fixed at this location. This is my second time at Zen Nail Lounge and I feel confident in my review. I love this place!! The first time I had a full set of acrylics applied and this time I had a pedicure and my acrylics filled and shortened. Both times I made an appointment in advance so there was no wait which was amazing for getting in and out quickly. That being said everyone I have had the pleasure of sitting for has taken their time and made sure everything was perfect. I never felt rushed which sometimes can happen especially in a busy salon. I highly recommend making an appointment, but I've seen walk-ins taken very quickly as well. 5 stars for service, cleanliness and the results. I had an okay experience here. The people were very friendly and I was in and out pretty quickly. The only thing to note was this was the most painful manicure I have ever gotten. My nail tech made my finger bleed and was often filing right on my skin. I also wish they were up front with me about not being able to do a design on my nails. I showed them before I sat down and they said yes of course. Then at the end, my nail tech said they didn't have the tools to do that. And then another lady as I was leaving said I had to call ahead for a design. Started out with an attitude, obviously didn't want to do my feet. immediately told me the 'Retreat' wouldn't be as long as some of the other choices, which sort of told me, again, she didn't want to be there. Less than 30 minutes later, I was done. I looked at my heels and toe and they hadn't been touched with a pedicure file (which was used by other technicians in previous pedicures). I asked her about it and she said she doesn't use them because they can cause bleeding and if I didn't like it, I could ask for someone else next time I come in. For my best friend's wedding, 7 of us wanted to get mani pedis before the weekend. I did think we'd be able to walk in with 7 people anywhere and get out in a timely manner, so my hunt began for the perfect salon. Zen Nail Lounge ended up being the PERFECT place for all our nail needs. I reached out to them a couple weeks in advance and we got everything figured out. Ricky was so accommodating and wonderful to work with even when I'm sure I was being a pain and changing/adding services up until the week before. The communication between us was phenomenal, he was available for me to email, call or text at any point if I had questions or needed anything. The day of everything was perfect!! The salon is so clean and inviting, they were ready for us and we were started immediately. They have complimentary drinks (including wine and mimosas oh yeah), the technicians are super friendly and great at what they do. They even got a bouquet of white roses for the bride! It was so sweet and the best way to kick off the big weekend. I think there's a parking lot in the back but if you park on the street don't let your meter run out, the spots are monitored and I almost got a parking ticket so be aware of that. I've been in nursing school for the past year and have been unable to get my nails done. Last week was my birthday and I decided to treat myself to some nail luvin. I've been out of the nail game for awhile, so I consulted my Yelp app for some suggestions on a local place to go. Zen Nail was the clear winner. I made my appointment through the Yelp App and looked at their site for their services. I settled on dip for my nails and gel for my toes. I'm giving it 4 stars because when asked what I wanted to drink, I ordered a mimosa. I was told that they would have to check to see if they had any. Then, two girls sat down beside me and ordered mimosas. They received them, I did not. (It May sound petty, but it's the truth) Also, I didn't receive any hand massage love with my dip/manicure. Gave this salon a try today and I am so glad I did! Read the reviews about needing an appointment, so I requested an appointment for a mani/pedi through the Yelp app, and heard a reply back almost immediately. I was able to get in the same day, a few hours later. When I arrived and checked in, I was glad I booked an appointment. Their schedule looked packed! I was able to pick fun polish colors from the hundreds (or maybe thousands??) of options lining the walls of the shop. Crystal met me up front and escorted me to a pedi station complete with massage chair. There were lots of pedi options--I went with the refresh option which included a scrub on top of their standard services. Crystal worked expertly and efficiently, taking the time to give me one of the best foot and leg massages I'd ever had, while working so quickly through all the other steps.... Which isn't to say that she cut corners at all--this was one of the best polish jobs I'd ever gotten too! I went with their basic mani, and though done very quickly, the polish and shaping was equally perfect there. After my full mani-pedi, I was under a dryer in about an hour. Cost was $52 + tip. I have spent more at 'fancier' places and received much lower quality work. This was such an unexpected treat, and a great deal. Will definitely be back and asking for Crystal. For those wanting a little more, there are of course add-on services available--gel and powder, paraffin, extended massage, and even wine pours! Super convenient to the Broad Ripple strip, and there is free parking for customers in the lot behind the shop. Enjoy! read more

Firstly, I am not a nail salon connaisseuse. I've been to a grand total of three nail salons in my life: two in Denver and now one here in Indy. I had my favorite in Denver and will compare my experiences to B Nail Salon henceforth. I easily scheduled an appointment over the phone and I popped my head in here a few days before starting my new job two weeks ago. As this is my first professional-level gig, I wanted to look the part and decided to check out Zen Nail Lounge to help me get there. Having just moved 1100 miles, I also needed to treat my toes and feet to a pedicure as well. I'm pretty awkward at nail salons: I still don't know exactly what the procedure is, moving from one position to the next, from one station to the next. So needless to say, I got a lot of taps on my feet when I got lost in the unspoken pedicure dance. At one point, the tech asked me about my rough heels and sighed. Um, I walk a lot in flats and sandals during the summer? While not beat up, I'm not sure why I was getting a bit of an attitude for coming in for exactly what a pedicure is for. Not a big deal, but I found that weird. No matter, the tech did an awesome job and my toes and feet looked wonderful. Wearing those weird nail salon flip flops, I waddled over to one of the manicure tables and was passed to a different tech. She was kind and patient with my ineptitude and graciously took her time cleaning up my raggedy nails. After looking all pretty, I once again waddled over to the drying station and in my own spectacular fashion, I managed to immediately smudge one nail. The tech could tell I was a noob, and she quickly fixed my nail throughout the drying process. Even though I waited for 20-25 minutes, I still managed to smudge the same nail about 30 minutes later as I continued my day. Note to self: get the gel manicure next time! Lovely, clean, affordable nail shop on College with plenty of parking behind the building. While not my favorite nail salon experience, my nails still look ace two weeks later. It's just okay. First and foremost they basically don't take walk-ins. If you walk in you're going to have to set up an appointment for a few hours later. I didn't see any appointments start on time. My own started 20 minutes late so no you're not going to slip in and out if you were thinking of squeezing a service in on a lunch break. They give you wine which is nice. What I ultimately wanted was more intricate than they were expecting(ombre) but they did agree to do it anyway which I appreciated at the time. But I feel like it came at the expense of quality. I needed a soak off but instead, they just ran the drill over my nailbed to try and even out the surface. I've never seen anyone do that before. Normally they try and make sure the nailbed is straight before adding acrylics. Nothing was done to my cuticles. The nails are also very textured and not smooth. It's gotten increasingly worse as the day has gone on. I had to clean up a lot of the glue around the nailbed and cuticles later on too. There was no hand massage at the end(which I know they do because I watched another woman get one). I actually didn't realize she was done because my normal lady wipes down my nails after the final cure. I don't know if my experience was sloppy because they were rushing it or if that's just how they are. The woman next to me said she's been coming for 4 years. Either they cut corners with me or she has no idea what a decent nail tech even is. Because my nail tech would have given me a discount for starting late and I have never had the issues I had here. They look nice far away but it wasn't worth the $65 price tag. read more

Very friendly staff. Upon entering they offer you a beverage. They have complimentary water, beer and wine. Lots of different options for manicures and pedicures. They make sure you are aware of prices for different services they offer prior to beginning treatment. There is free parking in the back or you can find a metered spot out front. Second time to visit this location and have been pleased both times! Finding parking is the only hard part, but now knowing they have a small lot in the back may make parking no longer an issue. read more
