The receptionist was nice and accommodating. The price was a value at just $80 for an hour plus gratuity. The establishment was clean, tranquil, and well appointed. The room was delightful - it was the largest massage room ever. You lay on the floor and the therapist comes in and she worked my muscles perfectly and I left feeling much better. Second visit though it's been awhile. This time Summer was my MT and wow she does not mess around…read more I guess I've been sleeping weird or too much time at the computer but my neck was cooked so I went for an hour. Summer was so determined to get my neck and shoulders into some sort of respectable state. At some point she got up on the table and put me in this weird chokehold like position so she could dig her elbows into my neck. I realize this probably doesn't sound great but my neck needed it so bad. Now I'm definitely sore but I can swivel my neck around so I'm a happy camper. I would continue to go back for sure. A few things to note. I think their website got hacked because now it's some weird casino looking thing. They are still open just fyi. Also, they do take walk ins. They're not the most helpful if you don't know what you want in appearance, but once you're in the room the MT is really sweet and caring.

Unfortunately, the one good therapist that worked there left, so I was back on the hunt for a new spot. As luck would have it, I was back in the old neighborhood after a business meeting and decided to give this place another try. I'm so glad I did. The people here are all super friendly, and the rooms are clean and relaxing. Nothing has changed in that respect. Lisa has moved on, but in her place I was introduced to Anna. She referred to herself as tall Anna because, well, she's tall. She's also strong. Like VERY strong. As a 50-something that works out daily, I have some tight spots and some sore spots. With other therapists in the past I would ask for medium pressure and then point out when I needed deeper pressure. They would do their best, but it always seemed like their medium would fade toward light as the session went on and their deep was them putting every bit of weight they could muster into a single spot. This would lead to somewhat irregular pressure, and each visit was different from the previous. Really hit or miss, regardless of the therapist. Not with Anna though. Her medium is a firm, but soothing and consistent amount of pressure and, when she finds a tight spot, she puts just a little bit more into it without breaking cadence. It's a truly relaxing experience. It's going to sound weird, but I'd equate it to driving a car with more than enough power to handle any situation. Where a weaker car has to work as hard as it can to get to and maintain certain speeds, the more powerful car can do it effortlessly and with grace. I've now been back to see Anna four times and each time is just as good as the last. She is the epitome of consistency. It's worth the half hour drive to see her every week. Highly recommended!

We planned on getting there an hour before our massage to enjoy the hot tub (they requested that we call ahead to let them know and get the heat going). Our massage started promptly on time, and we both opted for deep tissue. I had Deanne, who specializes in Swedish and deep tissue massage (according to her bio on the website)... and let me say she has some STRONG hands. She found all my tension and pain-points and loosened me up. I was honestly a bit sore for days, but in a good way. A great reminder I need to take care of my body post workouts and after long days at the desk... My biggest feedback for them would be to have more info on their website about the pool access and what's offered (towels, robes) and how long we have pool access (it's all day, btw). Before booking, I had to call to get that info; it's be more convenient to add all of that info to their FAQ page. They also allow you to bring snackies, so I brought a fruit, cheese, and tinned fish spread. Also, wondering if they had hot tea service. That's always a nice touch post-massage. I wasn't looking for frills but quality work to help get some of the kinks out of my back. I came to the right place! Called for a same-day appointment and the woman who answered the phone was very polite and accommodating. When I asked to confirm pricing from what is on the site, those are up-to-date and accurate. They are very easily located on Silber right after the entrance to the Edwards Theater. The lobby is clean and not dark and sketchy, with no cheesy music playing or blackout curtains. I went for the Combo #2 (80 mins total, 40 mins back/shoulder and 40 mins feet/head/arms) and Helen took the most amazing care of me. The pressure was hard, which I needed, but not painful; she truly worked on my issues and didn't just rub oil on my back. When we were finished, I got dressed and went into the other room for her to do my feet and I just wanted to sleep. She placed a warm therapy pillow on the lower part of my back and got to work while my feet soaked in a tub of warm/hot water. Helen proceeded to really work on my feet, legs, and toes! But only after she did a great job on my head (why do head massages just put me to sleep?) and then neck and shoulders and then placed a warm therapy eye pillow on my face to allow me to really sink into the second part of my appointment. Fancy spas are great if you are looking for that. But if you are truly looking for a quality experience with very professional people, I cannot recommend Soul Retreat Spa enough. I've been on a strict diet with a pretty heavy weightlifting and cardio routine and was traveling…read moreto Houston for a work conference where I was not sleeping well and not feeling up to doing anything. In addition I have been working through a strained right front delt issue that has limited a lot of my resistance exercises, so yesterday I decided to skip a run and get a deep tissue massage. I did a two hour session and Heidi seemed to have an exact routine down to fit any amount of time. Great emphasis all around, even worked in stretches where she was able to get me into positions that I would not be able to get to on my own. I was surprised with the amount of force she was able to apply, which she says is mostly through just utilizing body weight and leverage. I haven't had many professional massages, but the times I have I have asked for deep tissue and Heidi's was an order of magnitude more intense than any other that I've had. I'm sure she would have eased up if I asked, but I didn't. She knew she was hitting tense spots and that I was trying to not show the level of excrutiation that I was in but she could tell. She just eased into going harder and telling me to relax and breathe like she was talking me into giving birth. And she worked the heck out of that front delt, I almost asked if she had a rope I could bite down on and she went right up to my limit right at the two hours were ending. Turns out my safe word is "OOHH F***", at which point she said "ok that's enough torture for today. Anyway, it's the morning after (Thursday after a Wednesday afternoon appointment) and I feel like she definitely opened up blood flow and this will help me recover. Taking a couple days off of upper body resistance training and excited to see how my next push day feels on Sunday. Super impressed with how professional and systematically she worked through all the spots and paid attention to the areas I highlighted on the intake form. I'm going to recommend her to everyone I know who lifts weights and lives or is passing through Houston. Was about a 15 minute Uber ride from our downtown office, so super convenient, especially since she happened to be free right away when I called her after my meeting ended early. That's all I have. If I remember maybe I'll update on a few days when I hit chest and shoulders to see how much this helped recovery, but at least it felt like I was doing something productive after feeling completely broken down from training, travel, work, and lack of sleep. P.S. - I hope I didn't scare anyone off with my description, I specifically asked for a deep massage and she delivered exactly what I wanted.
