I used to believe in the whole "no pain, no gain" approach to massage, but she completely changed my perspective. It's not that the work is just softer, it's more effective. Instead of digging into the same knot over and over, she works the connected areas and releases the tension that way, so the knot actually resolves without the whole session being painful. Relaxing during massages has never been easy for me. I usually spend half the time trying not to tense up, but she's the only therapist I've had who can get me to fully relax for the entire session. If you're looking for someone who really understands how the body works and doesn't just go through the motions, I highly recommend her. Instead of getting massages on vacations, I can't wait to get back to see her because I know she'll get it done right!

Okay hate to break up the 5 star glee but have to give my feedback…read more I came here for a 90 minute Thai massage. When I filled out the form I put in three different areas "stretching". I love being walked on and all but I wanted/needed more stretching. Last came in and said "I want more stretching than massage", and you can see where this is going. I got almost no stretching and a lot of massage. Now the massage felt good, but why have us fill out the form and then tell the person what you want if they aren't going to read/listen anyway. When I was checking out I told the person there I wasn't happy that I didn't get my stretching and she smile and said "we don't do discounts for first time, only 10th time free." Even after me saying hey, wasn't so happy didn't get what I want she still charged me full price for the massage. Now don't want to be a beggars level material here but I should pay for what I wanted, not what I got. That being said, despite them not listening to me and charging me full price for the style of massage I didn't want, it was good. But because they cannot listen, I won't return.

I've done this before so I know the score - I'll need someone to unknot my body-in-training after those long weekend runs in the fall and winter. In pursuit of a solution (using Massage Envy is a bit like playing Russian Roulette here) I started to "audition" massage therapists. I first looked for a convenient location near where I work in the Galleria Area and found that the first Google search result for "Houston massage" was Houston Massage by Sonya. I inferred from her website that at least she knew what she was talking about and scheduled an appointment via her online tool. I was more than pleased when, two days later, she got her hands on me. In the big scheme of things for a 53-year-old, I'm in pretty good shape, but she immediately sensed and understood where my trouble areas were (a minor misalignment of the pelvic girdle and somewhat shortened deltoids) and modified her approach accordingly. The massage was simultaneously effective and pleasurable, a result that more often than not does not occur when the therapist is working with deep tissue. I definitely know who my go-to-girl is going to be when my Marathon training starts in earnest. P.S. You might want to discover for yourself why she is known as the "Goddess of the glutes..." They didn't have anyone at the front desk to let anyone in to even communicate with me that's the reason the door was locked. they were just very unprofessional and i wouldn't recommend a roach to this establishment. so my advice would be to stay clean from this establishment.
