However, I have to be honest and say that the experience did not compare to what we received at the Sugar Land location. The biggest difference was the atmosphere. At the Houston location, everything felt a bit rushed. It seemed like everyone was trying to move quickly through appointments rather than creating a truly relaxing experience. There was quite a bit of talking from staff members during massages, and we could also hear people outside the room laughing and having conversations. It made it difficult to fully unwind and enjoy the peaceful environment that we were expecting. Again, Kimmy and Kiki were both pleasant and gave good massages, but the pace felt rushed and the overall experience lacked the calm, relaxing feeling we had enjoyed at the Sugar Land location. If you're simply looking for a decent massage, this location will likely meet your needs. For us, though, the entire experience matters just as much as the massage itself. Because of that, we'll probably continue making the drive to Sugar Land for the more relaxing atmosphere and overall experience we had there. When I walked in, I was greeted by two women and they led me into the common massage area, where each massage bed is sectioned off with curtains only. I ended up getting a male massage therapist without any notification. This male massage therapist (I was unable to get his name) made me feel very uncomfortable. Although the foot massage only lasted less than 30 minutes, the head massage and shoulder massage were great. He mainly focused a lot of the time during the massage in my glutes and inner thigh areas. Once finished, he quietly whispered in my ear, "see you again soon." As a woman, this made me VERY uncomfortable. I tried expressing my concerns directly to the massage therapist afterwards, but he ran to the back right after the massage. When I was paying, I expressed my concerns to the woman who greeted me. She disregarded my concerns and only focused on the next customers coming in. As someone who frequents massages regularly and was excited to try a new spot, I will NOT return. I wasn't looking for frills but quality work to help get some of the kinks out of my back. I came to the right place! Called for a same-day appointment and the woman who answered the phone was very polite and accommodating. When I asked to confirm pricing from what is on the site, those are up-to-date and accurate. They are very easily located on Silber right after the entrance to the Edwards Theater. The lobby is clean and not dark and sketchy, with no cheesy music playing or blackout curtains. I went for the Combo #2 (80 mins total, 40 mins back/shoulder and 40 mins feet/head/arms) and Helen took the most amazing care of me. The pressure was hard, which I needed, but not painful; she truly worked on my issues and didn't just rub oil on my back. When we were finished, I got dressed and went into the other room for her to do my feet and I just wanted to sleep. She placed a warm therapy pillow on the lower part of my back and got to work while my feet soaked in a tub of warm/hot water. Helen proceeded to really work on my feet, legs, and toes! But only after she did a great job on my head (why do head massages just put me to sleep?) and then neck and shoulders and then placed a warm therapy eye pillow on my face to allow me to really sink into the second part of my appointment. Fancy spas are great if you are looking for that. But if you are truly looking for a quality experience with very professional people, I cannot recommend Soul Retreat Spa enough.
