I stumbled upon this place after searching for reflexology and massage because my shoulders and neck were in so much pain. I wasn't looking for frills but quality work to help get some of the kinks out of my back. I came to the right place! Called for a same-day appointment and the woman who answered the phone was very polite and accommodating. When I asked to confirm pricing from what is on the site, those are up-to-date and accurate. They are very easily located on Silber right after the entrance to the Edwards Theater. The lobby is clean and not dark and sketchy, with no cheesy music playing or blackout curtains. I went for the Combo #2 (80 mins total, 40 mins back/shoulder and 40 mins feet/head/arms) and Helen took the most amazing care of me. The pressure was hard, which I needed, but not painful; she truly worked on my issues and didn't just rub oil on my back. When we were finished, I got dressed and went into the other room for her to do my feet and I just wanted to sleep. She placed a warm therapy pillow on the lower part of my back and got to work while my feet soaked in a tub of warm/hot water. Helen proceeded to really work on my feet, legs, and toes! But only after she did a great job on my head (why do head massages just put me to sleep?) and then neck and shoulders and then placed a warm therapy eye pillow on my face to allow me to really sink into the second part of my appointment. Fancy spas are great if you are looking for that. But if you are truly looking for a quality experience with very professional people, I cannot recommend Soul Retreat Spa enough. They used to be really great. Wife and I went and her massage was good, mine not so much. This is the second time in a row that it hasn't been a good experience. Paid for a full body and it seemed very rushed and cramped for a couples massage. Also full body I would think they would massage feet and that was not the case. My feet were not part of the deal apparently. Not sure if I will be coming back. Very convenient and clean however the experience is too hit and miss. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's about time I've reviewed Soul Retreat! I love this place! Jessica is always so friendly, professional, and accommodating. I love that I can almost always get in same-day and within 2 hours of calling. For years, I've had Sophia as my massage therapist and she's incredibly talented! Today, Helen was my massage therapist and I will also add her name to my list of favorites. I came in with a headache and she gave me a wonderful massage. I will typically add aromatherapy or hot stones for a small charge and I love the warm neck pillows they use during the second half of the massage. A great experience every time! read more

Sorry can't recommend... the massage therapist Cindy I think doesn't speak any English at all, so I couldn't ask questions or direct her in any way. Also I don't like that style of massage if using elbows and knuckles. Just use your hands. Also when she massaged my scalp she pulled out a lot of hair. Which I couldn't explain to her! Soul Retreat Spa is a great spot for foot massages! It's easy making appointments by phone, the schedule is always on time, and the location is simple and clean. The 1 hour foot massages combine a little bit of your neck, shoulders, face, and arms (you can request avoiding certain areas) while you're fully clothed and laying on a chair. The majority of the foot massage (40-45 min) concentrates on your tired paws and it's soooo nice! Not only do I usually end up dozing away during it, but my feet feel great back at work (which requires a lot of standing) the next day. Some masseuses may have a bit of a language barrier, but there's always someone there to help translate if you need it. They do a great job, and I've only been less than satisfied on one visit. A 1 hr foot massage runs $40 before tipping! I haven't tried their other services, but I'm planning on trying out a back massage soon :D definitely check Soul Retreat out if you're looking for some R&R :) and there's plenty of parking! read more

The first massage I had here was excellent, so I was excited to return today, but left extremely disappointed. I've been to a few reflexology spas in Houston and Lisa's massage was quite possibly the worst I've ever had. The massage felt more like a back rub, as Lisa did not address any of my knots, and the massage was more uncomfortable than relaxing. Everything felt rushed. She did not speak any English either, so any instruction I gave her was not received. If you are looking for a massage here, I would recommend ensuring Lisa is not your masseuse. I will likely be back given my excellent first experience, but will certainly be avoiding Lisa. read more

Wow! i'm impressed. I've been a member at several known massage places over a year and have been searching for a place i can stick to without a membership for some time. i'm glad i decided to give this place a try, because i only have great things to say about this place. Starting off with Jessica who didn't give me any problems scheduling an appointment and acknowledged/greeted me right away as soon as i walked in the spa. My massage therapist was Rose, and she really did a great job, leaving me feeling light and refreshed. I did the hot stone massage 80minutes and added 10minutes for feet massage. Her firm pressure was perfect and really hit my pain points on the back of my neck, my shoulders and legs. It felt amazing. I'm so glad i added the feet massage because it really made a difference. Not to mention, i could tell she really cared about me rather than just trying to pass the time. also normally after a firm pressure massage my back gets bruised or feel hurt but i didn't get those after which was a big plus. Compared to the other spas in houston, i really like this place because it seems they focus on their quality of massage. It's really easy to walk into a spa by getting sold on interior or how nice it looks... this place is quiet and basic but you get what you paid for! I've been getting massages intermittently at Soul Retreat for about a year and always had a wonderful experience, but after my massage yesterday I don't think I will be back. I've never asked my masseuse's names because they've all always been wonderful but yesterday the young lady who worked on me was awful. She did not speak much English so I could not give her any feedback so I had to endure 65 minutes of an awkward massage. Then I unfortunately requested the $10 extra hot stones which she did not know how to use. They did not bring them in until halfway through my massage. She burned me with them several times on my back and just randomly rubbed them on the bottoms on my feet. Her pressure was incredibly weak and her movements were awkward. She rubbed under my armpits which was very weird. I find it very hard to believe she is a licensed massage therapist. I mentioned this to the receptionist and she said "ok, I will make note of this and request you have the same person you had last time, as some people prefer certain techniques". But no. She was just bad. I've had many massages at many studios but never one that bad. Then to accommodate she reduced the price by $15 - basically not charging me for the hot stones that she barely used and then $5 off. Not really helpful. Idk. Don't think I will be back. Unfortunate. Let me just start off by saying thank you to the manger Jessica for being so responsive and informative. I felt bad because last minute I wanted to plan a surprise couples massage for my boyfriend and the only time I had to research was at 9PM. She was up answering my questions till 10PM and she sold me and signed me up that night. We went and filled out our information and went straight to it, no wait. I believe my massage person was Brock or Rock (sorry I was so excited and are terrible with names) he was perfect on pressure and made sure throughout the massage he asked "Are you ok?" My boyfriend had Lucy and he was impressed with out great she was with pressure also. The ambiance was amazing. Very dim, relaxed, calm, etc. When we left, we felt so great, like a slinky for sure. I have a new baby and have had a bad crick in my neck and shoulder from lack of sleep and picking her up/feeding etc. They were able to accommodate me with short notice and were very welcoming at the front desk. I was pleasantly surprised that the lady at the front desk took the time to explain everything to me. I've been to a lot of similar places that don't do that. My masseuse was great and applied just the right amount of pressure. The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is, because the gloves that he put on for the foot portion were too big and kept rolling up. He had to keep stopping and adjusting them which made that part awkward. They were also a strange, thin and plastic texture. After learning I had the day off this past Wednesday, I quickly decided I was gonna pamper myself that day and came on to yelp to find a good deal cause homegirl wanna treat herself but not at the cost of major coin. Found that this spot was charging $55 for body massages, and if you check in with yelp, you'll get an extra $5 off! I was politely greeted when I called and was able to book an appointment at like 11:00 am. When I got there after a Pilates class, the establishment was nice and clean, and best of all, I was seen quickly by my masseuse. I'm never too picky about my massages, but the woman I had was very courteous in the fact that she would routinely check to see if i was still comfortable. If I had anything to say, I just wish she would've given more time on my face, but other than that, it was fantastic! Definitely give this place a try! My boyfriend and I were very excited to get a couples massage here after reading rave reviews. However, our experience did not reflect everyone else's. When you first walk back, the "rooms" on the right are basically small cubicles with no door. If there's a massage in session they just hang a blanket/sheet where a door should go. We were then led back to a private room (with a real door, on the left) which put me at ease. I found it odd that my therapist did not introduce herself (still don't know her name) or ask if there was any specific area I needed working on, but tried not to read too far into it. There was also a major language barrier and she didn't understand (and giggled) when I tried to explain the pressure was too much. I could go on further but will leave with this... We enjoyed the hot stones on our back and friendly front desk staff but definitely won't be back. read more
