I visited Zen Well for the first time this afternoon for a hand and foot reflexology massage. I loved every minute of it! I am not a traditional "spa-goer" and generally prefer the cheap, hole-in-the wall reflexology places for a quick foot massage when I need to de-stress. I don't have the patience to sit around in a robe relaxing before my service. I just like to get right to it! I decided to upgrade a bit this time and give Zen Well a chance and am so glad I did. The place was very clean and modern, the atmosphere of the spa area was amazingly relaxing and the chair for the reflexology massage was super comfortable. And, the prices are still affordable ($1/minute). The service provided by Sarah at the front desk and the massage by Josh were also outstanding. Have been here at least 10 times. And will be back at least 10 more times. I go exclusively for the infrared sauna. The sauna sessions are 40 mins, and they make appointments on each hour, so it gives you 10 mins to undress and 10 mins to get back dressed after your sauna treatment. The saunas are *individual* sessions, meaning you have the sauna all to yourself! They have a TV and Netflix, Hulu, etc so you can watch something during your session. The sauna is great - always gets me sweating, comfortably, and it is always wonderfully clean, as they clean the sauna between each persons session. Actually, the entire facility is kept very clean and a comfortable temperature. They also play incredibly soothing spa music. Really calming. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Sauna appointments can be made in person, over the phone, or you can even book them online right at home! You can also cancel appointments from the scheduling app too. Parking is never an issue. TLDR: Great clean sauna, nice staff, easy booking. read more

Thai massage is soooo good for recovering from workouts and activity! Massages take place in little rooms with curtain doors and a squishy pad on the floor. It's kind of like a cross between sports massage and passive yoga, and it works out knots I didn't even know I have. Zen Well has a lovely atmosphere, lockers for your stuff, and after-massage tea. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted by a welcoming receptionist and atmosphere. The decor, lighting, and music are both beautiful and conducive to relaxation. Additionally, it is a very clean environment. I wasn't sure what kind of massage I wanted- they offer Thai massage, foot reflexology, hydromassage, chair massage- but my masseuse helped me determine what would be best. My masseuse was Claire and I got a great chair massage and a Thai massage. Both significantly alleviated my soreness. She was attentive and sensitive to the amount of pressure I wanted. Zenwell is the shiz. Going to a massage therapist I've never met before and taking my clothes off isn't for me. I generally just come in clothes I would wear to yoga since I'm not a fan of community clothing. I call Jeff my little ninja because he can work out all the tough knots in my body without causing pain. Zen Well offer lots of different types of services, but the reflexology and the thai massage are my fav. I find myself quickly drifting off to a blissful stage and can't stop a smile from creeping across my face every time. I've never been a fan of chair massages, but my little ninja has since changed my mind. At first, I thought it would be strange to receive a massage in an open room (except for the thai massage is in private), but all I hear is the trickle of water and relaxing nature sounds. The staff there is very quiet as they move around. Sometimes it can be a little cold, but one mention and someone will bring you a blanket. I actually feel safer being in an open room. The massage is sooo good that sometimes I can't leave right away. I drink my hot tea in their comfortable lobby until I'm ready to rejoin the world again. read more

My therapist was kind and professional and had a good strong touch. I think going longer would be better though as 40 minutes flew by, and not enough time to zone out. There was more stretching than deep massage, which is what i called looking for. I would def come back here for more of a relaxation massage. I just moved to South Austin, and have driven past ZenWell multiple times. I decided to stop in today to grab a services menu, and hopefully book a last minute appointment. Success! They had a 20 minute opening for a hand a foot massage. Megan helped me set up my treatment. She was super sweet and personable. I have received foot massages from other establishments. To be honest, they have left me a little scarred. Very rough treatments that left me wondering if I had just been abused, or just made me feel like a wuss. Like I couldn't handle it. I saw Claire, and she was an absolute delight. At one point, the pressure was a little uncomfortable. I'm always a little hesitant to criticize someone's method. My eyes were closed, but Claire was clearly watching my expressions because she observed my discomfort, asked if it was too much pressure, and modified her touch. At this point, I knew I was in expert hands. I was lucky enough to be able to include a 20 minute chair massage. It was amazing as well. Claire was very open and receptive to my requests and needs. I cannot wait to try their Thai massage. Very reasonable pricing. I loved the outfits they have you change into too. The Thai pants are so comfortable! What a fabulous Thai treatment! I am a massage therapist trained in Thai and am visiting from Las Vegas, my friend is a Thai trainer and massage therapist as well, our friend who is a local massage therapist suggested Zen Well to us which of course speaks volumes. The treatment was wonderful, I could tell that Chandra, my therapist truly loves what she does. The transition from relaxed to stretching was very smooth and not forced. The pressure was perfect and she checked in to make sure. The technique and flow while different from the table Thai I am used to was really relaxing and rejuvenating. I booked a month's worth of sauna sessions, infrared that is. That equals 4 sessions. Having researched saunas in Austin, I came up short of what I was looking for. Sauna with shower and ability to change between hot and cold running water intermittently after 15 minute sweat sessions. You either get these disgusting saunas where people a) wear their clothes, b) wear shoes c) dirty floors, d) no showers or you get what Zen Well and other wellness centers offer as "health solutions" - a simple infrared sauna. My problem with Zen Well is that there is no shower. The sauna itself is so darn uncomfortable and teeny weeny I wonder who the heck designed it? Nowhere else in the world have I ever been to such a sauna. You can't even lay down in it. What's that all about? Their website is cumbersome and hard to use. You cannot book a session if you've paid for it in advance. The receptionist told me twice how to do it but I didn't write her instructions down so I forgot. When I got to the site it was so difficult I just phoned them instead. That shouldn't be. If infrared is what you are seeking it is just that, an infrared sauna, nothing more or less. But it is not exactly relaxing when you cannot relax nor shower and have to change into your clothes after a sweaty session. read more

I went to ZenWell (on Brodie just past William Cannon) twice this week -- once for a Thai Yoga massage (new to me and FABULOUS!!) and today for Reflexology. When I arrived today the owner, Bethany, asked if I'd gotten their message (I hadn't). She said that one of the employees had called in sick, and instead of a 1-hour Reflexology session I would get only 40 min. However, to make up for it she would give me a 20-min. Hydro Bed session for free. I'd never heard of a Hydro Bed! You don't get wet, but the bed has a heavy-duty rubber "bladder" you lie on, and water jets pummel or gently massage your back, depending on how you set the controls. I was in bliss THEN had my feet worked on. By the time I finished, I had to just sit on the couch for about 15 min. No way I could drive! And I like that you don't take your clothes off for any of the procedures. I have finally found my once-a-week source for massages. YEA!! read more

I discovered Zen Well when I was pregnant and went in several times for prenatal massages. They were amazing! You don't lie on your stomach, they do everything on your back or side, so it was always really comfortable. I saw Jamie for prenatal massages, and she was fantastic! Went in today for my first real Thai massage post-baby, and it was excellent! I saw Chandra, and she did an wonderful job! The massage incorporates lots of stretching and compression, and is nothing like any other massage I've ever had. I left feeling stretched, relaxed and rejuvenated. Before Zen Well I normally did deep tissue massages so I was worried it wouldn't be deep enough. It was and I'm hooked. If you've never tried Thai massage you really should! Zen Well is great for a chair massage if you don't feel like having a full body slick down someplace else. Actually, each time I've gone the masseuses have worked really hard. They do Thai massage as well, and have an infrared spa, both of which seem interesting but I haven't tried either yet. Just FYI the massage chairs are in a common room, not private rooms, which seems a little odd at first but you're not naked anyway so who cares. Give it a try! read more

My husband gifted me with a certificate to Zen Well, and I have to say that I was excited to try the various massages they offered. I've generally been a swedish massage kind of girl, so it was refreshing to see a spa that offered a variety of services that I haven't been exposed to. I decided to dive right in and try the "Taste of Everything" package (20 min. chair massage, 40 min. hand/foot reflexology, 20 min. facial massage, and 40 min. Thai massage). My therapist was Chandra, and she has such a professional, knowledgeable, and comforting demeanor. She immediately put me at ease and was very conscientious of massage pressure, my body temperature, and areas of pain. The chair massage, hand/foot reflexology, and facial massage were so relaxing, and I found myself falling asleep several times. I generally like a firm, hard pressure, and Chandra certainly delivered. I was a bit apprehensive about the Thai massage because it involves movement and a certain level of closeness with your therapist that I'm not used to-- but I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxing it felt, and I also loved the deep stretches and massage in various areas of my body that normally do not receive any care or attention. I can definitely see myself coming back for this after an intense workout or a very stressful week. I definitely recommend this spa for its wonderful massage/wellness options, the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, a tranquil atmosphere, a fun wardrobe (comfy Thai pants + a tank top + flip flops), and especially the very reasonable pricing and lenient cancellation policy. All the things that would generally cause some stress with a spa trip are completely non-existent here. They focus on what matters: relaxation and wellness. I am a fan! read more

I just got back from my first visit to Zen Well, and I can assure you it will not be my last! I had a 20 min chair massage and a 20 min hand and foot massage, both with Erin. It was so relaxing! It's been years since I had a massage, and one of the main reasons it's been so long is because I always find it a bit weird to be naked with a stranger!. At Zen Well you can change into their comfy pants and not have to worry about that! The room was very relaxing, with nice soothing music and a peaceful waterfall. Erin was great...I was practically falling asleep it was so relaxing, and my back and feet and hands feel like butter. I'm not sure if I'll try the Thai massage, but I'll definitely be back! Next time I might do 40 min of the hand/foot, so my feet can get just a bit more attention. There is NOTHING more relaxing than having someone rub on your feet! It's not cheap but it's reasonable, and well worth the money. I don't think I can justify going there weekly, but every few weeks - absolutely! read more

I had a massage here in May and it was amazing. I had never had a Thai massage before and was told it would be like having someone help your body do yoga without you putting in any effort. That being said I still want sure what to expect so I was a little nervous. The rooms were dark and spacious enough for my therapist to move about but small enough to make me feel comfortable and secure and the music was super peaceful and a bit trance like. Dawn was amazing. She checked in to make sure pressure was good and I can't believe she does this work all day as it is so physical. Her energy was smooth and comforting. I never wanted the massage to end. I was so relaxed and my body felt limber and stretched out and warm. I had to sit for a bit before I could drive home. I only got an hour, but next time I will opt for longer for sure. If you go for thai. Definitely request Dawn. read more

I've had a couple of hand and foot reflexology appointments with Suzie and she is absolutely fantastic. Everyone I've spoken to there is very friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait more than a minute for an appointment. Facility is very clean and they have some really neat internationally curated items for sale in the lobby, including hand-made sandals from Africa and Thai handbags. They serve complimentary tea from Tea Embassy and they have a small locker room where you can store your phone/purse/shoes/etc. There are clean, baggy pants, tees, and sandals provided in the locker room if you need them. Again, I adore Suzie and look forward to seeing her. She is very friendly and kind, with a soothing manner. Even with the 20-minute session I left feeling like I was floating. It went to the core of my senses. Also including a short touch to the scalp massaged as well. A hot tea treat afterwards. I was recommended by my roommate to come here for a massage after driving all the way from Rhode Island. (30. Hours.) I've never received a Thai massage until I came here. Anita was so great and she really stretched me out. It was different and not like a real massage but it definitely helped tremendously. I had my first visit yesterday with Megan and oh my God! I can move again! My neck and shoulder pain is practically gone. I opted for a 60 min massage just because of the level of tightness I was experiencing. I work nearby, so I took a walk over there during my lunch. She was able to get every muscle to move and work and the entire experience was amazing. I did 30 minutes in the chair and 30 in the moon bed. I also received this fantastic scalp massage. I've been having some serious back pain for the past nine months and to be honest, I wasn't too sure I could get a good deep tissue massage from a chair. I was wrong. Claire is not only fantastic in her craft, but also very educating. She explained that by doing stretches on my own time, the muscles in my back would improve much quicker than just by going to the chiropractor and getting massages. I came in with low-back pain. I've been here once before for reflexology and had a great experience. This second visit, I was absolutely blown away! My therapist, Julie, recommended Thai massage and It was fantastic! She seriously gave me one of the best massages I've had in a really long time. I think it was only 20-30 minutes long but it easily topped some 90-minute sessions I've had elsewhere. My back already feels a lot better. Also, she gave me the extra muscle/pain balm left over from our session - which was so nice. The prices here are very reasonable.
