We were very grateful that they were open for indoor service. The tables were separated to account for distancing and the staff wore masks. Now for the food. It was all amazing! They have such an extensive, and informative, list of teas to choose from and I was very happy with my Oriental Beauty tea that I tried for the first time. The waitress kindly explained to me the steeping times and how the the steeping vessel worked. It was very intuitive and with a push of a button drained my tea from the leaves, making it easy to pour. I got at least 7 tea cups out of the hot water kettle and the tea tasted great every time. I also ordered dumplings which came with a great dipping sauce, and lavendar pancakes which more than stuffed me. Finally got to try ZenCha's shrimp okonomiyaki today! The portion was good; basically two big seafood pancakes (shrimp, cabbage, carrots pancakes topped with mayo and sweet sauce). The staff was telling me how it'd be sweet, and he was absolutely right, it was a bit too sweet for me as I feel like the pancake mix itself was probably sweetened too. They're not open for dine-in at this moment due to covid, but the takeout experience is great! Everything is so neatly packaged, and the staff are super friendly and helpful! I wanted to do something different for lunch. So I decided to come here. I loved the ambience. It was very clean and pretty quiet. You can actually come here and think, have an intimate conversation or possibly get some work done. The staff is very polite and attentive. The decor is very simple but really easy on the eyes. You are greeted at your table with whatever the special drink concoction that they want you sample for the day. For my meal I got the teriyaki chicken. It was pretty good. I loved the flavor of the chicken and the way that the rice was cooked was to perfection. Before my actual meal. They brought me a salad. I mia at that this salad was absolutely amazing. The dressing on it was out of this world. I wanted to put that stuff on everything. With this being a tea saloon. I would be wrong if I didn't get any tea. So I got the summer blend. We had been by this a few times and assumed it was just a teahouse. Today Sweetie's friends met there for brunch, and I was invited along as support staff for Baby K (she could have gone by herself- seems like everyone wants to see the baby and we are just along for the ride...) We had a large group. It's not a huge place, but it's not bad, and ten of us took a big table in the middle. The service was super, considering the chaos of several kids, tea service, meals, etc. Tea is obviously the star, and it's not really my thing, plus I couldn't really focus on it- but what I had was very good, and they clearly know their stuff. They explained the options and specials, gave us samples, and brought our choices quickly and in cool serving ware. I just had masala chai, and it was excellent- thick, creamy, spicy, a little sweet. I sampled a few other things and they were very good. The brunch menu is a mix of well-done, semi-healthy and sorta-trendy versions of brunch standards, plus Asian dishes. I ordered steak yakisoba, and was very impressed. Perfectly cooked noodles, seared steak, and veggies. It all combined into a great mix of flavors and textures. Sweetie had fruit French toast and loved it. Others had salads, benedicts, shrimp and grits, etc., and all liked their choices. Fruits and veggies were super fresh, presentation was beautiful, and I didn't notice many leftovers. Prices are a bit high, maybe, for the size, but the quality is excellent and honestly, with a couple of entrees and a couple of teas, it really wasn't bad. There is a Yelp check-in discount which I forgot to use- grab it! The space is open and inviting; my only quibble was that with tea and food, there wasn't much room on the tables, but that was partly due to our large group. We will definitely be back for more tea and great food. There is a large selection of loose tea up front, and some teapots, etc. Great windows with a nice Bexley view- right by the temple and library. It's normally served hot, but she figured the chilled factor would fit better since it was suppose to get in the 90s as the day progressed. I went with the Sandwich Combo - 1/2 sandwich and side salad. The side salad was tasty (I love salads!). Romain lettuce, red onion, cucumber slice, dried cranberries and almond slivers. Homemade balsamic dressing hit the spot. Went with half of the grilled chicken bacon sandwich. Great choice! Bread was crispy on the corners, soft and warm throughout. I love the minimal, zen, feng shui design elements. The relaxing soft music playing. The gorgeous hand-made pottery along the walls makes me want to move to Japan. The young waitress was pleasant - song spoken voice that immediately put me as ease. I haven't had a bubble tea from ZenCha in quite a number of years. My next stop here, I'm planning to change that! My wife comes here a lot with my daughter because it is one of her favorite places. We went together for lunch. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the teas. The food is unique and creative. Everything is fresh on point. Nothing tastes premade. The teas are a high point. There is an extensive menu with everything from known traditional to more exotic. Friends treated me to dinner here and I was quite impressed. I'm typically not a fan of tea but I wanted to try what they had, which is a good size menu of teas. I tried the (cold) Vanilla Chai and it was delicious. They brought it out in a teapot so I was happy to be able to have more. For my meal, I had the Bourbon Chicken that was served with potatoes, onion, and red pepper, served with brown rice, and it was delicious. They food menu isn't huge but there is variety, including seafood. I had a delicious salad before the entree. I could've licked the plate for the dressing (I can't remember what it was - Ginger, maybe)! Desert was the Strawberry Cheesecake served with mango sauce, if I remember right, which was yummy. I laughed though when I saw the fork they serve it with - to me it looked like an olive fork and that didn't work for this guy. I was happy to have kept my regular fork. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was clean and we could have a conversation without raised voices. Staff were excellent! Friendly and helpful. There is a parking lot to the side and in the back. There's also street parking. I recently had a chance to check out ZenCha for breakfast and it was amazing. I enjoyed the chia waffles, which were gluten free topped with bananas foster and mango. It was delicious. We had their veggie dumplings (very fresh), grilled shrimp salad (a little pricey but delish), and trio of creme brullees (especially tasty) for lunch. And, of course, the teas (chilled and hot) were superb. I returned on a weekend after hearing about their brunch and was wowed by the tea and spice-infused waffles and pancakes (sweet and savory). My friend and I tried a veggie pancake and chai waffle with fruit. Oh my gosh! Do not miss this brunch. Truly wonderful. I live in Bexley and it is wonderful to have a consistent eatery in the community. I love the Monday through Saturday menu. There are so many options, generous portions, great flavored all at really reasonable prices. The selection of teas are also amazing! I'm always looking forward to my next meal. What a positive experience. My friend and I met here for brunch on a Saturday, her because she's a tea aficionado, and me because their menu included pancakes and I wanted pancakes. The waitress was the sweetest person who's ever had to work on a Saturday morning, the quiche was SO GOOD I closed my eyes the entire time I was eating it and heard Nothing my friend said. On top of that, my masala chai tea experience taught me that tea can actually taste good and not like leaf water. The space itself was more formal than what I'd expected, and rather dark, but the friendliness of the waitstaff and food/tea more than made up for the not-so-zen interior. The space is fairly large as well, so private conversations about embarrassing things you did at work that week are a go. I would recommend against the strawberry gluten free waffles, which were meh. First time her and unsure if I'll return. We stopped into order food and were told it would be 15 minutes. Not a problem as we went for a walk and came back 30 min later and the order still wasn't ready. The order took 45 minutes and people who ordered after us were getting their orders. We also ordered 2 bubble teas and both were made incorrectly. We had someplace to be and didn't have time for them to remake it and we ended up dumping them when we got home. My daughter is a vegetarian and wanted a BLT without the bacon but to add cheese instead. They were so confused and kept asking if we wanted a club sandwich instead. I finally had to tell them to just make a cheese, lettuce, tomato sandwich with Mayo, still for $13. Unsure if we will return. read more

The last time I was at ZenCha Tea Salon there was only one location so I was looking forward to my visit. We stopped here for a quick dinner before a movie. No one else was there but a few people came by while we were eating. My husband ordered a quiche with salad and I had the 5 dumpling soup. We were given samples of the daily tea which was a milk chai if I remember correctly. My husband ordered it and I had some type of rose tea. I don't drink tea often as it usually gives me a headache but both types gave me no problem at all. The quiche was about 4 inches in diameter. I was expecting a slice so an individual size looked very elegant. The dumpling soup was nice for a cold night. I wish we'd allowed more time to enjoy our tea. The wait staff offered to let us take home what was left of our tea so we were able to enjoy it after the movie. read more

I love the Bexley ZenCha. Must more room then their Short North location, a friendly staff, and delicious teas and food. I love coming here for brunch with friends or to just chat over a nice cup of Fresh Fruit Spring tea (my favorite - it's like tea koolaid!) The staff is always so nice and understanding - each "tea ambassador" will be happy to listen to your likes/dislikes and then suggest a tea based on that information... so don't be afraid if you aren't a tea drinker - they'll hook you up. While street parking is available as well - be warned - parking in the lot directly next to ZenCha at lunch is prohibited and their business neighbor across the parking lot will have your car towed with pure delight and job - to the tune of $140. read more

The ZenCha bexley has raised the bar for the Short North. This place is perfect! It's a great size and decorated much better than the SN locale. It's more cozy, less cramped, and just more Zen. The servers were fantastic. Upon being seated, we were served a sample of tea. Then we were given ample time to order and our tea came out in an appropriate amount of time for how much we ordered. Our server was sweet, informative, attentive, but not intrusive. Of course, all the teas were perfect!! I opted for an herbal tea despite my known love for their honey peach bubble tea. I was quite pleased with the subtle flavors of the rose and date tea. Everyone else enjoyed their selections too. It was such a wonderful time I am thinking about making this a go-to place when I need a "drink" instead of always going for cocktails. I love the atmosphere, very serene and elegant. Tea service is great- you can have your tea hot or cold. I asked a few questions about the teas and my waitress was very informative. They also have a menu for food! Beware though - there are two different menus - one for weekdays and one for weekends. I think i like what weekday menu offers as they have more variety from chicken to salmon. Since i went on Sunday and it was the brunch menu, i just ordered spicy noodles with beef. Very tasty and filling. I also ordered fruit tea served cold- so amazing and took a fruity tea from Africa to go. There was a couple sitting behind me on their first date...quite honestly this spot is excellent first date place! I can't wait to go back and try out their weekday menu and relax and read a book. Ah-mazing tea!!! Oh muh goodness...so so good. There was samples of some German black tea (completely blanked on the name) and it was yummy. The menu didn't mention any sweeteners being added to any the teas (besides fruit) so hopefully they didn't trick me by adding loads of sugar to the samples. There are tons of tea options...in fact, there is a separate tea menu. It was overwhelmingly exciting. I needed several moments to concentrate. For my meal, I had the thai salad and the wonton soup and both were delicious. I would have preferred brown rice on the salad (it came with white and I didn't think to inquire beforehand) and more nutritious lettuce (I hate iceberg) but it was really good nonetheless. And the tofu was excellently seared and season. mm mmm....I'm craving more as I write. The wonton soup was tasty...although, I suspect that the wonton was not made fresh or even in house. Both the broth and the wonton tasted pre-packaged, which is fine. Freshness would have been a nice touch, though. Parking at this Bexley location was remarkably easy. I believe there are spots right outside of the restaurant but there is also free street parking (yippee) I'm looking forward to another visit. read more
