Popped into Zen-Cha Tea Salon in Bexley to warm up as the flurries started. It was our first time here and I thought the space was pretty and the service was nice. It seemed quite busy mid afternoon. One of our group had a very aromatic (but too sweet) cardamom ginger tea. Another had an extremely mild, delicate Kyoto cherry blossom tea. And I had the pinky's up Lady Londonderry in the fancy Sadler teapot. It was the crowd favorite. The tea menu is extensive and we'll come back another time for food, which looked good. read more

I've been a Zen Cha loyalist for over a decade, regularly visiting their Short North location. But this weekend, I finally tried their Bexley spot--and I was so impressed that it might become my new go-to. Right away, I noticed that the service and atmosphere in Bexley are a step up from the Short North location. The tea selection is just as expansive, and I ordered my longtime favorite: cinnamon mint chai--which, as always, did not disappoint. We were a little bummed to find out that the Bexley location doesn't serve tea scones like the Short North does. But we opted for the cinnamon waffle instead, and honestly? It was out of this world. Topped with flambéed banana, candied walnuts, and whipped cream, it was a perfect substitute for the scones. Overall, Zen Cha remains a must-visit for any tea lover or sweet tooth, and I'll always be a fan. But going forward, I might just switch my loyalty to Bexley--especially since it's in a charming, walkable area with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend! read more

I went to the one in Short North and we got sick on the food afterwards so I was apprehensive to go to this one for a girls chat. I was pleasantly surprised. Though the ambiance was the same, the service was better despite the new person mixing up our tea order. It was quickly resolved and I enjoyed my japanese pancake while my friend enjoyed her curry dish and bought tea for her coworker. I miss true Asian tea houses and David's Tea from my city roots but this will suffice for now. read more

I am a huge fan of ZenCha. Fresh, delicious food with generous portions served in an elegant and beautifully decorated but not-too-fancy setting by knowledgeable and friendly staff. And that's not even getting into the tea! There are so many options available that it's a little boggling, but the menu does a good job of breaking everything down by type of tea and gives a little description of growing practices, taste, and other helpful information, so don't be afraid to go even if you don't know much about tea. The staff will also be able to answer your questions -- very knowledgeable, like I said. And if you find something you really like, you can probably buy a bag to take home! When we went they were handing out little taster cups of rooibos lattes that I liked so much that I bought a bag of the tea to bring home with me and replicate the experience. I'm not even a huge tea person...that's how good it was. ZenCha is savvy that way. For lunch, I ordered the strawberry chicken salad and it was amazing -- light and summery, with plenty of greens and cheese, and an excellent size. The potstickers we ordered for the table were PIPING hot, and very tasty. I haven't been to their weekend brunch but I'd really, really like to someday. Keep an eye out if that's your style. An A+ dining experience. I will be back the next time I am in town. read more

A hidden gem in Bexley. We had been for lunch/brunch but not for dinner. Our bad! Quiet Thursday night. Our table mates were veteran ZenCha customers, so we ordered what they ordered. Moroccan Spiced Salmon with salad and salad with chicken. Both were excellent. Really good, especially the salmon.....and the salad! Attentive service was a plus. ZenCha will be on our local rotation!! There is parking in the back of the building in addition to sparse street parking. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Ever. We'd decided to try this place out with a group of friends, but they wouldn't seat us because there were eleven of us. They said they can't take more than a party of eight without a reservation. The place was nearly empty. They probably could have seated 30 people easily. So I tried to get a reservation for us for half an hour later, but then was told they don't take reservations on weekends! The funniest part was when the guy at the front told me they didn't have space in the room to seat 11 people. I was standing in the room! There was tons of open space and tables. THEY LITERALLY DID MOT WANT OUR BUSINESS! So we obliged them, went next door to Harvest and had a great meal and a good laugh about how dumb the ZenCha thing was It goes without saying that neither we or any of our friends will ever go there again. read more

Tucked away on Main Street, this is a very cute little cafe. They have dozens of teas and they do a great job describing and recommending them. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy but we were seated right away. I went with the vanilla chai iced and it was very tasty but still came cold in a mug rather than with ice. For food I went with the spinach Parmesan quiche. It came with a side salad and potatoes. The salad was sooo good. The ginger dressing was amazing. The quiche was very good as well. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the service was a little slow. I think there was a shift change while we were there so we got a little forgotten about. ZenCha Tea Salon has 100 different teas from over 9 countries. ZenCha has categorized their tea in an extremely efficient fashion. For me that was key to minimize confusion and getting overwhelmed with the large list. They also have mixed blends and bubble teas. The ambiance is not to mention beautiful too. I stopped in and ordered from the hostess who was friendly and informative. She recommended the #83 Zen Tranquility which has blends of ginseng, cardamom, cinnamon, lavender, St. John's Wort, and lavender. It was delicious. And I will say that the odds were in my favor given that it was sunny Friday, but by the time a got home I was feeling pretty good. Would highly recommend the brunch menu here. It's Japanese/fusion food, which sounds intriguing and meets expectations. I got the Okonomiyaki, which is a Japanese pancake. You also get a protein choice with this, which I chose shrimp for. The sauce is similar to a spicy mayo type of sauce, and the pancake itself is fluffy. Absolutely love this place. The owner is the cutest human ever she's so sweet and always smiling she remembers me every time I come in. The food is so yummy and the tea is mainly why I come. It's a very relaxing vibe inside. It's dim lighting and I like to come and sit alone sometimes. But if you are ever craving bubble tea and it's closed like on a Monday, check out first corner ! This place is really cool! I haven't been to their Short North location, but this one was more low key. They even have their own private lot shared with the next door businesses at the back! I came at 7 with two friends on a Friday. They never got that busy. Looks like a lot of people came in to get to go orders though. I saw a family eating in here and a few other groups of two. If you have a big group, you're in luck. Seems like you won't have a problem getting a table quickly! It's not a big space, but it's substantial. Service is also quick. The girl we had was so upbeat and enthusiastic! Loved her! We got free complimentary lavender latte tea. Wow. So good!! The teas are their selling point though. I would totally just come back here for those! It's such a good deal at about $5 and you get your own pot. I got glorious paradise. Wow! It came in a French press. It was a fruity tea with hibiscus flavor. So yum!! I also ordered bourbon chicken. It came with rice. It was very tasty! Prices were a little high but I get that Bexley is an expensive area. I think my entree was $13. My friend got masala chai. She thought it was amazing! She also got the soba with tofu. It was pretty filling though she thought the broth perhaps lacked seasoning. She thought the tofu was very good though! My other friend got udon with tofu. She loved it! ZenCha is one of her favorites in the city. She had been to the Short North location a few times already but had never visited this one. She also got the cinnamon mint chai. It's one of her favorite teas here. And she loved it, of course! We also decided to share an order of okonomiyaki. Wow! It was so good! It's like a pancake with veggies in it. The bathrooms were interesting. There's a one person for women and another for men. The sink was too abstract for me. The water came out of a small plate type thing. The handle to turn it on and off was also weird. Super modern though! I can't wait to come back here again! I've been a fan of ZenCha since earlier this year when I went to the downtown location on High Street. One of my close friends who used to live in Columbus was actually the one who recommended this location to me. I never knew that there was more than one location. It also doesn't come up on Google Map or the iPhone map app either. That's something this establishment should look into because I would have been going here way more if I knew it was only 6 minutes away from me especially without having to deal with parking unlike the downtown location. I was here for Sunday brunch & I loved it. I had the Coconut Chai tea served hot & it was delicious. It was sweet, a bit creamy as it should & damn it just good. I also got the strawberry sunrise waffles with some scrambled eggs on the side. The eggs doesn't come with the waffles. The waffles were so good. It wasn't crunchy as many restaurants tend to do. I hate when waffles are almost as crunchy as bacon when I go out. I will never understand that. The waffles tasted great, it was filling & I had a hard time trying to consume everything on my plate. Bottom line is this is now my go to Brunch spot. It's conveniently located close to home.The food & staff are great. It's also very cute on the inside. I will be coming back for sure. read more

My first time at this wonderful cozy restaurant. Everything I experienced was pleasurable, very friendly, clean, estically simple yet beautiful. Fresh flowers on the table, dinnerware perfect for each dish like it was chosen. Parking easy! For my appetizer Samos a but not like any I've ever had, my first time trying Thai food and I know I'm going back for that. I ordered the Thai Coconut Curry with rice, almost teared up it was so delicious, paired with the Oolong tea. I was so thankful I had enough to take home. Zen Cha is my new favorite place to explore teas and have brunch! Having been here twice now since relocating to Columbus, and I don't think I can get enough. The tea selection is incredible and I can never choose just one. The Earl Grey latte and Earl Grey pancakes (pictured below) were phenomenal and will definitely be ordered again. You don't find side salads like that. The salad dressing looked good but I did not eat it because I did not know if it was vegan. The staff was friendly and allowed me to pick up my order at the last minute. I called at 8:45 PM and they closed at 9. This order came with a side salad and brown rice. I like the previous $16 price better than the unexpected $18.50. I was told when I called that the prices had recently went up. $1 - $1.50 price hike would have been enough. I have to start by saying I love tea, and I have high standards for my tea cafes - ZenCha definitely met those. Good food and great tea for a good price. This location is on a cute street in Bexley. Make sure you park behind the restaurant, not to the side of it, because those spots are reserved for a different strip of stores. We came in around 11:45 on a chilly and rainy Friday, and it was pretty empty. By 12:15, however, it was packed. We each got our own tea, which allowed for several cups each (perfect!). I had the British Assam, and my mom had the Royal Golden Yunnan. Assams are my favorite black tea and this one did not disappoint. I tried the Yunnan and liked it as well. Their tea menu is EXTENSIVE, so you're guaranteed to find something you like. For food, I had the Ahi Tuna salad. It was good - the ginger dressing was seriously to die for. My mom has the half soup/sandwich combo, which came with a small salad as well. Their soup that day was potato soup, so she got that and the chicken salad sandwich and enjoyed both. I would like to come back and get the half and half combo sometime, because I like the variety that offered! Service was a little slow toward the end, but they were hit with the lunch rush which is understandable. We were very grateful that they were open for indoor service. The tables were separated to account for distancing and the staff wore masks. Now for the food. It was all amazing! They have such an extensive, and informative, list of teas to choose from and I was very happy with my Oriental Beauty tea that I tried for the first time. The waitress kindly explained to me the steeping times and how the the steeping vessel worked. It was very intuitive and with a push of a button drained my tea from the leaves, making it easy to pour. I got at least 7 tea cups out of the hot water kettle and the tea tasted great every time. I also ordered dumplings which came with a great dipping sauce, and lavendar pancakes which more than stuffed me.
