3.5 stars. I got to try boba in Spain! The worker said one of the popular drinks were the matcha Japanese milk tea and that is what I got. They were running out of boba so I got the lychee popping boba and whatever was left of the regular boba. My aunt got the taro milk tea and her bf got the Oreo milk shake. He enjoyed his milk shake really much and my drink was good. I'm not a big fan of popping boba but I did like the regular boba. My aunt thought her drink was just ok. Being from California where there are boba shops everywhere, this one wasn't too bad at all and did it's job. I enjoyed my drink and was glad I got my boba fix while in Barcelona ! Wow! A taste of home away from home. Zenzoo is no imitation. This is as real as bubble tea / boba going to taste in Europe! Having heard recommendation from another traveler from the US West Coast, I was curious just how authentic bubble tea can be in a place like Barcelona. And boy I was not disappointed! I tried the classic milk tea (less sugar) with tapioca aka boba to make sure Zenzoo got the basic down. When they place the drink in the shaker, that was already a good sign. Coming from SoCal (Los Angeles), I haven't seen a good, ol' boba shaker machine for a long time. That's always a good way to get the foam though. The milk tea flavor was just right! I'm glad I got the drink less sweet. Is this the best boba/ bubble tea I've ever had? No way! I'm spoiled by LA's variety and up to date drink styles from seafoam, cheese foam, and even tiramisu style milk tea. But I can't hold that sort of standard against Zenzoo. Zenzoo did the basic right and that's what's important in my book. Can I see myself coming here regularly if I'm a local resident? You bet I would! And that's why the 5 star rating. If you've been away from Asia or Asian saturated communities like LA and SF, then Zenzoo will not disappoint as a nostalgic flavor for those longing for a taste of bubble tea. Such a nice discovery whilst in Barcelona. I tried the pink lemonade (no sugar, no ice) with tapioca pearls and I really liked it! I was a little worried it would taste too artificial, but to my surprise it didn't. It was really refreshing and the tapioca pearls were delicious, perfectly cooked with a nice flavor. I also tried the korean yuzu (no ice, no sugar) with tapioca pearls and I really liked it as well, in fact it was my fave! I love yuzu, it has such a unique flavor without being too sour. While the environment at Zenzoo tucked away off of one of Barcelona's major strips is fascinating and engaging, the product itself didn't blow me away at least to the degree that I'm used to back in Los Angeles. My oreo cookie monster boba came to what I think was €5,00, which was reasonable given the hefty portion. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? In all, this was just okay boba in my mind. There was a generous portion of oreo, but the tea itself tasted as though it was sweetened with artificial sweetener of some sort, and the boba itself tasted store bought and contained as opposed to fresh made. This place is a really great and original bubble tea café. Right in the center of the city, it's easy to get to from the Catalunya metro stop. It's right on one of the beautiful streets leading off of Les Rambles. It's also beautifully decorated. There's this really great green benchy thing in the back of the store decorated as if it was made out of grass (granted it's a little scratchy on bare skin. The staff was really nice, and helpful which is always good! Most importantly the tea was great along with the tapioca that I had with it. I was so relieved to see a place selling milk tea in Barcelona. The inside of Zen Zoo is clean, sleek, and refreshing. The woman taking my order spoke fluent English and Spanish, which was a plus. I ordered two classic milk teas, one with boba and one with rainbow jelly. The milk tea was on the sweet side but you have the option to adjust your drink's sweetness when you order. I went here on a Wednesday afternoon and the service was terrible. I ordered three drinks and even had the girl repeat my order to me to make sure it was correct. My sister and I waited at least 20 minutes for them to give us only one out of three drinks. She asked "you only have two right?" I told her no, I have a total of three drinks. She was so confused and had to go to the computer to check and the whole time she was confused. She then came back and asked what we ordered and then told us they were out of tapioca so we can either pick a different topping or wait for the new batch of tapioca. However, ithey had given the people who ordered after us the tapioca that was supposed to be our's because they didn't get our order correct. We has to wait another 10+ minutes for our drinks. This store needs to work on their organization. They take way too many orders for them to handle in such a small store that they get easily confused and flustered. I am always looking for a good taro drink, but I want real taro used. They use taro powder, so I go the classic with 50% sugar and pudding. They don't break up the pudding, which always means there's a large chunk on the bottom I need to break up and I barely get any of it as I am drinking. My drink was good and I'd get it again. I LOVE this place. It's so good. There are so many options and they almost always have free samples so you could even try that and see if you like it to get that as your order. I usually get the melon milk tea with Poppins which are good. They are like little gel balls with juice inside. You can get that instead of tapioca. Or sometimes o get the vanilla milk tea with oreos so it's almost like a milkshake. There are lots of options though.
