Some years ago Zest was a tiny shop extension of the Tea Shop in Lititz. Then it expanded, and expanded, and now, when I wandered in for some small business shopping days before Christmas, it is a complete surprise! Now this review is for the shop, not the classes or other offerings. There are 5 rooms of various sizes, and most were packed with shoppers looking for unique kitchen tools and various kitchen wares. There were decor items, ornaments, and shelves of spices, seasonings, sauces, and mixes. There were many shelves of cook and entertainment related books. I spied a tiramisu kit in the window and got the last one for my daughter in law. The prices are what I would expect to pay in a specialty shop. The place was hopping as I said, but the employees on hand were running around doing their best to be helpful. I really didn't get to peruse the merchandise closely, but took photos to allow you to see the various rooms and the contents on the shelves. As you can see it is an eclectic mix. If you or someone in your life is a cooking aficionado, you will feel right at home in Zest!

No marking of "per person" pricing, no menu listing, and says BYOB despite, apparently, having wine pairings included.

Too bad I can't leave a zero star review. My girlfriend and I had signed up for a "Date Night" cooking class here. Being called that, as well as being $20 more than the regular cooking classes, logic says that it would be one ticket for two people. This is not the case. (Note: nowhere on their site or while ordering tickets does it say that it is one ticket per person) When we arrived, we were told that we were only reserved one seat for the two of us, but that we could buy another ticket for another $75. Now, mind you, this isn't actually an actual cooking class - it's more like being an audience member on a food network show. The kitchen area was on a raised platform adjacent to the tiny tables they had set up, which is horribly inefficient for you to actually watch and see what the cook was doing, let alone they said it was 12 seats, which means that 3 people would have their backs facing the kitchen area. Despite no clarification on the menu (unlike other "classes"), the site is very clear that they do not offer refunds. We left our information with one of the staff, as the owner was out of town. When my girlfriend contacted Zest/the owner to discuss this matter (as the website is horribly misleading), she was treated as if we were idiots and with terrible attitude, telling her "You assumed it meant two people because it said date night", among other patronizing statements. In the end, the resolution was that we would receive a gift card of the amount we paid for the class. I'm sure we'll use it, because wasting money is a poor choice, but I'm incredibly displeased with our experience, especially since it was also our first time with the business. I've already told a few of my friends in the industry the story and none of the can believe the level of ineptitude and poor service that we've been treated to. For a high end kitchen store, this is what I'd expect from a kiosk in the mall. Edit: They've update their site to include the ticket/pp information. Hopefully this will preclude others from making the same mistake we did. Should've been there in the first place!

Incredible! There is so much care and thought put into this food. They must be very particular about their food suppliers. Any fresh ingredient is always perfectly fresh/ripe. We made breakfast sausage, buttermilk biscuits, chicken fried steak, country cream gravy, crispy hash browns, sunny side up eggs, fruit salad, and Texas sheet cake and somehow it all came together into an incredibly delicious meal. Chef Ted was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful throughout the class. At one point I was deep in ADHD overwhelm trying to keep up with the Texas sheet cake while everyone else seemed miles ahead, but Chef Ted and Madison (KA) stepped in, got me across the finish line and the cake turned out great!!!! The class was instructional and a little fast-paced in the best way. The two hours flew by!! It felt busy but never stressful, and sitting down to eat what we made together was the perfect payoff. Two thumbs (or forks?) way way up. Definitely recommend and would absolutely do another class!! We're already talking with friends about booking a private group night.

Within the class there were about a dozen things to make. You are divided into 2 tables, with each table making everything. Personally, you make one or 2 things. I was assigned the savory crepe batter and the spinach filling. Then everyone took turns cooking a crepe or 2. In all the class was a blast! There were some minimal drawbacks. To start, I previously posted about them not honoring gift cards. I quickly removed that post and they corrected the problem. I am very satisfied with how that was handled after the fact, but the old gift card was not easy to use without working with the owner. I also had a few times in the class where I could not find items like spoons or ingredients easily. The class had a lead instructor and then a kitchen assistant. It took some getting used to and understanding how the place worked. I almost feel more prepared if I were to sign up for a class again. First hour was not the most intuitive. I recommend these cooking classes. It was fun and a good date morning with my husband.
