NEW MANAGEMENT. The place is clean and presents well. I was in the area needing a refill. So, I called to see if there was a chance I might be able to get in quickly. Surprisingly, there was no one there on Saturday afternoon at 2:30p. Customer service was very good. Water/soft drink offer is always nice. Pink (actually nude) powder overlay took extra communication but, we finally got there. Cut/file down to short (athletic length) was also successful. And not too thick but, also not too thin was nicely done. One thumb has a small ripple. But, I'll live with it for two weeks. Sadly, my preferred buffing cream rather than the gel top coat was not an option that day. And $50 at check out was shocking. Fortunately, a $10 discount was applied without request. Still... $40 is a bit much for the simple service, in my opinion. When asked, I did let them know I typically pay $30. I do hope a good percentage is passed on to the nail technician in addition to the cash tip of just over 10% that felt right at the time. They also offer punch cards with a discount on the 5th service plus a birthday discount. read more

Found this lovely place on Yelp, while visiting Houston. Deluxe Pedicure was reasonably priced. I added on hot stones +20 minute massage. It wasn't though and the stones seemed too hot for my nail tech. She was nice and professional. They have lots of colors and really good service. Put your raffle ticket in before you go! read more

Beautiful Nail salon, too bad the nail tech that did my nails (Alyssa) did a HORRIBLE job on my nails! I visited the Nail Salon during my lunch break. I got a pedicure by Mya which was decent she did a great job with my cuticles & polish but my feet were not soft at all. I was told that's because I got a regular pedicure, which is crazy because that's no excuse for me to walk out how I came in! ANYWAY... Back to Alyssa! Alyssa did my nails while I was getting my pedi which I hate because 1) it's uncomfortable 2) they are not using an overhead light to really see what they are doing and 3) they rush. I was running late to work from my lunch so after Alyssa finished my filling, I PAID and told her that I would be back to finish up my polish after work. While I was back at work & looking at my nails I noticed how thin they were & that I could split / separate my nails from the freshly applied acrylic (the fresh "new" ) filling that I just got which is crazy! Crazy because if I would've had time to polish right then & there, I wouldn't have noticed! Then when I returned to complete my service I had to give step by step instructions! Oh I forgot to mention I got white polish, so y'all already know imperfections are very noticeable! To wrap this up I still left frustrated & unsatisfied! I visited black owned Zewd Nail Salon today for a mani/pedi. All precautionary measures were taken. Mask for clients were required as well as mask and gloves for the techs. Was a little warm in the salon and with a mask, it probably felt warmer than it actually was. My nail tech was Black, however they are an equal opportunity employer. My tech was cool. Shaky but cool. Would try other techs to determine a favorite and to establish a relationship. It's all about a relationship with your nail tech and I'm hella particular. Not overly, but I like what I like. One thing I was not a fan of, they have some bulk brand polish I've never heard of that I didn't really care for. Not OPI or Essie or China Glaze. After trying a few, I settled on a white polish that was sufficient. I normally take my own polish, but I didn't this time. I would definitely do so the next time and would advise the same if you're a bit of a polish snob like me. Fairly comparable to neighborhood nail salons, regarding pricing. Upon checking out, I was asked if I was satisfied with my services and advised I had 72 hrs for any repairs or touch ups if needed. Overall it was a decent experience. First off, this nail salon is Black owned! The first time I came here, I was sold. The manager or owner? is very kind and works with your schedule when calling to book. The techs are knowledgeable and very skilled. I previously went to VLink for a few months and the guy who did my nails filed my nail bed waaaayy too low. It took me going to another nail salon where a more knowledgeable nail tech, Alissa, informed me that this is why my nails were so thin (SN - I do not get mails done often!). Alissa not only gave me great advice on how to grow and strengthen my nails, but she also provided superb customer service and excellent quality nails (sorry, I forgot to take pics)! I'm writing this review simply because I've never had this happen before and would like to see if it's happened to anyone else July 29 my daughter took me and my granddaughter to get our nails and feet done a manicure and a pedicure and she got that expensive kind where the polish is supposed to last longer so she spent a pretty good penny to have this done because we were going out of town that Monday on vacation well it all began when the next day one of my toenails came off the whole thing the coloring off the nail it was unbelievable I couldn't believe it they wanted us to come back which was impossible we didn't have the time we couldn't make the time we had made time that Friday so they knew we were going out of town and said that when we come back we could take care of it now mind you while I was in the salon and it was being completed the technician was wiping my feet off two nails the pinkies on both feet came off right there at salon so she redid them, then one by one as the days progressed I say within 2 days another one came off and what I had to do was repaint it with polish that I had that was close to what I had gotten at the nail shop. if you weren't looking closely you would miss the color difference. I had put aside my polish to take with me but I forgot to grab it so the next time a nail came off my daughter had to go to the store while we were out of town and get a color so now my feet have three different colors on my pedicure I mean it was horrible and each day another nail came off and it all ended up where I had on one foot one toe, the pinky was the original color on the other foot the pinky and the big toe was the only color that was original. Then when you thought it was over you didn't have nothing else to lose lo and behold I get up and happen to look down at my foot and the big toe is gone so that was the last hurrah now I have just the pinky on each foot that's the original color everything else is a color I had to use to paint over my toes. Now they did offer to redo, but I just couldn't have that done again by same shop. If it was a simple one nail repair perhaps but not a whole pedicure by same technician/shop. They also offered a 15% discount on the next pedicure since I didn't accept the first offer. So for their efforts to rectify the situation I deem a 3star is adequate and for the humiliation I personally went through. So had this ever happened to anyone else? read more

My nail technician Brittani C. is very sweet, professional, chatted and made me feel welcome. She took her time and did an artful and amazing job with my pedicure. She was patient while I decided my nail color and the way I desired it to look. These young ladies are very skilled and KNOW how to do their job. I was checking out each of their own nail art. Brittani did her own nails with a marbling effect and it looked FIIIIYAAAH. Great spot for those in need of elevator use as the business is located upstairs. Never would I have thought I would've been paying $65 for basic nails like this. This is my main reason for giving three stars. It could've been my fault for not booking online, but I booked a pedicure online (deluxe) and asked if they had time to do my nails upon arrival, so I had no idea I would have to pay additional for gel + length + shape. If you plan on getting anything outside of regular polish, short, square, just be prepared to pay more than their displayed price. I love my nails, they're beautiful! Jenny did an excellent job! I was just very much so caught off guard there were still salons that charged like this. Everyone was very attentive, it was only me and another lady in the shop. They serviced me with wine to go along with. The ambiance was very nice and you can tell the salon does an excellent job with sanitizing and upkeep. I got a deluxe pedicure that was amazinggggg. I feel like I have new feet! But don't expect hot stone because it no longer comes with it. They told me they should be updating that soon. I will never visit this business again. Horrible management. My eyelashes came off immediately after the service and burned my eyes. I chose this business because it's black-owned. I wish that I didn't support this place. Eager to support this black-owned business, I went there and purchased a pedicure, fill in, and I got my lashes done against my better judgment. I tipped each technician $25 (totaling $75 in just tips + over $200 for my services). I spent at least $275 there. Before I made it home, my eyelids/eyes were burning & the lashes were coming off a day before I was going out on a trip. The individual lashes were hard & whatever glue they used burned my eyes. I called the owner, and she offered to give me $100 credit for my lashes. That was the cost of them. I appreciated that even though technically, I still lost $25 because I tipped & spent the rest of my night trying to take the rest of the eyelashes out. Fast forward, a few weeks later, I call to schedule an appointment to use my credit for my nails. I booked an appointment. I was 4 mins away from her nail shop. With traffic, it ended up taking me 8 mins. When I booked the call, I told the owner I was on my way. The appointment was for midnight. The owner called me around 12:01, but I was on another call, so that I couldn't answer. I was literally walking up the stairs to get to her shop. I got there at about 12:03 pm (3 mins) later. When I got there, she told me that she took another client because I showed up 3 mins late. She told me that I should have answered the phone (even though I called her less than 10 mins ago and told her that I was on my way). Because only a few ppl work there, I would have had to wait longer & I couldn't. So, I left. I was obviously disappointed, but I was technically 3 mins late, so whatever, I took accountability for that. I could tell that the owner really didn't care, so I decided to gift my credit to my mom. Now, this is what made me upset. My mom has dealt with a lot of stress recently, so I wanted to treat her to a spa day. We CALLED and booked an appointment in advance for 1:30 pm today. My mom drives 45 minutes to get to this nail spa. Keep in mind, the last time the nail salon bumped me for being 3 mins late. My mom arrives before 1:30 pm. 1:40 pm comes, and still, no one is there or available to do her nails. We ask where her tech is, and she says that she's downstairs eating lunch in her car. Ummm... why would you schedule my mom during your technician's break time? 1:50 pm comes (20 mins later) & we ask the owner when is the lady coming because we have to get back to our day and errands. She looks at me and says, "She's still on her break. She'll come up" She was so unconcerned & she didn't value our time. This was the THIRD time I had an issue. I ended up taking my mom to another spa, where they did a better job & there was no hassle. As a community, we need to do better. Black business owners always complain about not getting enough business or support, but they lack customer service. Now, I visited this salon, tipped well, sent customers their way, and I still promoted their business even though my first visit wasn't that great. There are always people willing to support black-owned businesses, but if we want our businesses to prosper, we have to stop acting like we don't care about our customers. It's sad. I visited this nail spot on yesterday 12/11/20 and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a black business. As a result of this information I deeply debated on leaving this review. So let's start with how cute the salon is and everyone seemed pleasant. I requested a full set and pedicure. The nail tech Alyssa started my soak off (as I had shellac on my natural nails). She was talkative and friendly (initially). Katrina the salon manager advised the nail tech to move me over to the pedicure chair - this I where it starts to go downhill the pedicurist (Jackie/Janet) was not friendly nor did she introduce herself- which was cool but I advised her that I had some acrylic on my left toenail due to a chipped nail that I wanted removed. She promptly advised me that it would be 5$ for take off. I inquired about the price for removal for a small bit of acrylic on 1 nail being 5$ seemed pricey but I went ahead and did it. She immediately began with the rough treatment pulling and tugging on my leg- meanwhile Alyssa is working on my nails so I am seated very awkwardly. I finally had enough of the pulling and tugging on my leg that I asked her to use words that would clue me in when she needed to change my position. She appeared to be confused by this request and continued to do the same thing. By this time she's been rude several times and abrupt with Alyssa whom noticed her actions on my legs and even mentioned how Janet/Jackie was behaving. Fast forward she gave a very tedious and painful massage grinding down on my shins to the point I told her it was painful and she did lighten up. However, I asked for a deluxe pedicure and nothing about the service provided was deluxe. All of the applied products was freezing cold as was the water my feet were sitting in. I told her this and she added a little lukewarm water to the bowl. But continued using cold products. Then when she goes to polish my toes she uses too much polish and doesn't apply the coats evenly. I told her it was too thick and didn't look good this seemed to surprise her. I just had her to remove the polish and put on top coat and advised her that I didn't want her to finish. At this point she and Katrina go to the back I'm sure to discuss what was going on. Katrina did ask me if I needed her assistance while this was going on but I was trying not to make a scene. I then rejoin Alyssa at the nail table where she proceeded to file nails and apply polish. I began to notice several different nail shapes and crooked nails and mentioned this to her. She got frustrated and asked if I wanted to remove the set. I'm thinking these people are a trip let me get out of here quickly. Meanwhile I told her I wanted short coffin and 2 short stiletto nails with design - she assured me she could recreate the design I selected perfectly. I also wanted to add a glitter nail by this time Katrina comes over to show me the glitter and I selected a silver toned glitter but when cured it turned black. Of course I didn't like it because it didn't go with the theme of Christmas or white nails. Alyssa then tells me its too late to remove because it's cured. I guess she was looking for support because she loudly talks to Katrina about my glitter nails as if I made the mistake and she would be justified in charging me to remove the glitter. Katrina advised her to take it off. She grumbled and complained the whole removal process about how hard it was to take off. The whole process took about 5 minutes at best. By this time I'm super frustrated with crooked unmatched nail shapes and READY TO GO- she made one last effort to be cordial by offering the design. I took her up on it but quickly realized she had no clue on how to create the design I wanted. I opted for white and headed to the counter to pay. Boy when I tell you they nickel and dimed me to the tune of 115.00 dollars. I was flabbergasted but paid and left. I did come back because what I calculated the charges to be did not equate 115.00. Katrina went over the tickets with me and I found out they charged everything but a cover charge. Needless to say I got home and realized I didn't have topcoat on two nails and the shapes were more off than I originally noticed. Too bad - as I'm consistent with services and great customer but I will never return nor refer anyone to this nail shop. Dear owner I hope you are eventually able to hire more experienced nail techs. To The Owner- you can attempt to discredit my review but your techs are trash. I'll be there to buy your furniture when you close down. I visited Zewd recently and it was nice! The wine and massage chairs with multiple settings was nice. My Deluxe pedicure was pretty good. I would recommend that one because the cheaper ones don't include cuticle care. I wouldn't get my eyebrows done here though. read more

My overall experience with Zewd Nail Bar is good. Their customer service is spectacular. I booked an appointment online and was confused about how to book two services for one visit. I called the salon and they explained to me because of COVID-19 that I could only have one service done at a time thus, having to book services for two different times. Understandable. Then my second service was added over the phone so I didn't have to do it myself. The salon was clean. It's one of the cutest I've seen in a long time. No choas or loud talking. Very black-centric, which I loved. They played Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and the like. I felt at ease and at home. It was welcoming. At my appointment, I had a gel full set done and a pedicure. My pedicure was great. My nails, not so much. They weren't bad, but they weren't good either. I could definitely tell that the Hispanic/Latina nail tech wasn't as experienced as other nail technicians. I will give Zewd Nail Bar another try in the future because I know these are some young girls starting out and you have to start somewhere. Plus, like I said, their customer service was great! I specifically chose this place because it's black owned. I'm sad that I didn't have a great experience and likely won't be back. I booked my appointment a week in advance. However, upon arrival I had to wait about 10-15 minutes. This is a personal pet peeve of mine because what's the point of an appointment? There was no apology or anything. The girl who did my pedicure was mediocre. The pedicure was very surface level and not close to anything I've gotten at other salons at that price point or even cheaper. For the regular pedi, they basically soak your feet, scrape the bottom and polish. All 'upgrades' cost more. My polish was nice and smooth though. Upon finishing, she just walked outside to go on break. She didn't tell me how long to wait to be dry, spray my toes with the speed dry or anything. Just told me to sit there and told the receptionist she was on break. I sat there 15 minutes. Nobody else checked on my toes to see if they were dry, so I paid and left. Of course, I messed up my toes. I won't say I'll never be back but I'd have to be in the area as it's way out of my way. Best of luck to them. read more
