I've been coming to this salon for a long time because Kim usually does a great job cutting my hair short. Before coming in, I called to check if she had availability--she said yes--but when I arrived, I still had to wait about 20 minutes. She was working on another customer's cut and color by herself (she used to have someone helping with shampooing). I showed her a picture of how I wanted my haircut -- long layers, clearly blended. Unfortunately, when I got home, I noticed the layers were uneven and didn't blend well at all. The cut just didn't turn out the way I hoped, especially considering the higher price. I even called the next day to share my feedback, but she gave reasons for why it turned out that way instead of really listening. Hair will grow, but after this experience, I think it's time to find another salon that knows how to cut and blend layers properly. read more

Run away from this place. One can only take so much of the attitude. It's one thing for someone to be this nasty and defensive when you give her directions on how you want your hair to look, I could do without the "I've been cutting hair for "X" number of years"...(and therefore you don't get to tell me how you want your hair done), and for your haircut to turn out right, but no, the worst haircut, and I had to pay someone else to fix it. Why didn't I go back to get her to fix it? No thanks. Not with that attitude I wouldn't know what the fix would be. If you want a dye job from the 80's go here, too. Otherwise there are way too many good salons in Houston with pleasant people and years of experience. Save your money and your emotional energy for those. read more

I had a Groupon and it was for a spa pedicure, they put a ton of stuff on my feet which I guess is fine but when it came to my nails, she didnt clean the nails, no cuticle removal or anything. All she did was paint my nails! I coulda done that! Not even a filing of my nails...nothing that is supposed to be a "pedicure" . I mean the point is to have the nail cleaned and shaped, the cuticles trimmed etc.. I coulda lotioned my legs and painted my toes. Im not using Groupon again.. you really don't save money because the places are not good and charge for things that normally are included. The paint doesnt even look even, she put 4 coats on, I picked a clear pink but wirh all the coats its a whit comor. It's bad! ughh now Iv got to spend more and go to my normal place and redo them... I have been going here for years. So had my wife and quite a few friends and neighbors as well. Kim is such a sweet and friendly lady and she has a great staff. I have visited this salon since winter and services were great until today. My hair still came out good bit was overshadowed by pushy sales add ons. I was asked several times if I wanted a hair treatment. When I kept declining then I was asked if I wanted a pedicure. My total was slightly higher than normal. When I inquired about the higher charge, I was told this what I always charged you. I responded, well actually you charge me the rate you said minus $8. I finally returned for the Japanese straightening treatment. My hair is poofy, full, frizzy and very wavy if left to dry on its own. So you can see why I wanted the treatment. I was told at other salons that Brazilian would enrich my hair but not make it straight, since my hair was so unruly. So I went to Kim on Dec 31, 2013. It's been almost two months since I had it done and the results are still good! My hair doesn't need to be flat ironed anymore. I can blow dry and go! There's only one small section of hair that is slightly wavy. But best of all, if I DO decide to flat iron it, it stays smooth and straight even in the rain and humidity! And even if I don't flat iron, the results I get from blow drying my hair remain as well! Seriously, this treatment, although time consuming and stinky, was worth every penny. If you're thinking about getting it done, keep this in mind: you can't wash your hair for three days. During those three days you should keep your hair as straight as possible- including at night. Your hair will smell like the treatment for about a week even after you wash it, although no one else around me seemed to notice the smell. The ends of my hair were completely ruined. They looked like I burned them with a lighter. I found myself trimming the ends in my bathroom because the dead ends would cause my hair to get tangled up and then fall out in knots. So plan a haircut within a week of getting the treatment so you can avoid this problem. And for those of you who have a sensitive scalp, the treatment sits for awhile and can start to burn. My scalp ended up flaking, scaling and peeling a few days later. And lastly, if you have very fine or thin hair, your hair may not tolerate the treatment (breakage). But go see Kim and ask about this treatment. No one else in town does it. Her clients fly in from all over to get it done. And if I ever leave houston, you can bet I'll be flying in every year to repeat my treatment. Best decision I ever made!!!! read more

I had an 8 am appointment with Kim for a Japanese hair straitening. I have curly, frizzy, thick hair that does not cooperate with Houston's humidity. Kim's salon was very clean and she was very personable. My hair is a little past my shoulders and the process took about 3 1/2 hours. I was offered coffee while I was getting my hair done as well. The results were spectacular. It set me back a little over $200 but it was well worth it. I had a great experience and will be returning here. read more
