The pros: -incredibly nice staff, easy to work with -using the room was free (but they'll take donations!) -the tables and chairs were set up for us prior to the event -you can bring your own food and drink without jumping through any catering hoops The cons: -parking is not great, especially at night. they apparently lock their gate up at night, so we had to direct all of our guests to use the parking lot next door. -it's not the biggest location--the room definitely felt cramped. -the room also smelled a little musty. -not a great location--the building is easy to miss and located in kind of a shady area. as we were setting up, a man wandered in trying to sell us a leather jacket. two minutes later, another man came in to try on said leather jacket. -the room kind of reminded me of my parents' basement. I mean, they have a nice, finished basement.. but it's still a basement.

We had our daughters Sweet 16 at the center on January 2023 and it was AMAZING! I started planning…read moreher party early 2022. I was determined to have it at this location. I'll share there was a bit of a wait to get a response, but now I understand how they handle each request to rent the facility. Just be patient folks. I got to tour the facility, sign a contract and kept in touch with Jennifer, who by the way is awesome! Rental fee's vary depending on what you want, for example, if you want to serve alcohol at your event, then you'll need one or two SJPD depending on the size of your event, in addition, your cost will increase. I chose the option to rent the facility for two hours 12-2p for set up (we set up 17 tables with 6 chairs) enough seating for 96 people but the facility does hold more than 96, I just don't recall what that number is. Then from 5-10p was our party and 10-11p was clean up. There was two staff on hand at the counter the whole time and were very pleasant. Shout out to Charles and Edie. We had a taco person come in and use the kitchen to serve the food. I had a sweets table, DJ, main table, backdrops and gift table. Everything was perfect. Note: No balloons are allowed - if one gets lose the ceiling is super high. Certainly not an issue for me as I was determined to use the facility and most places have restrictions in place for a reason. So if you're okay with rules/policies/restrictions there shouldn't be an issue for you when renting the facility. All in all, my experience was great and I will definitely use their facility again.

I use this community center to hangout with friends at the Cafeteria, the courtyard and the Library too, they're in the same building. I like that this spot is different from other libraries in San Jose. I usually like to come here during the day time weekdays and weekends, less kids and distractions. lol! Overall I find this place to be clean organized and fun, I definitely recommend this spot for families and a solid spot to hangout and try some meditation! Enso forever! Computer lab. Atrium. Cafe. Whenever I am back home from vacation this is my go to place. Ambiance: The neighborhood is fairly quiet as it is surrounded by suburban house and a school. Bobbi, the organizer, is usually there and always welcoming. From my experiences, the nights are usually slow-paced as it is just usually for dancers but some times the space might be shared by others using the center. Space: The community center is pretty new and pretty clean. As for the dance sessions, usually the back space is open which generally hosts about 15-20 people where 3 of the walls are covered by mirrors. On more available days, they open up the gym where it basically quadruples the spaces. The people can ranging from different age levels and skills as well. Feel free to ask anyone questions, they are generally friendly and willing to help you out. Music: Can't complain about the music. Personally the playlists are diverse with a balance of new beats, old beats, and remixes. Parking: You shouldn't have any trouble with the parking especially during the summer or winter break. If not you can park in the neighborhood as well. Overall: 5 stars. This place has all the fundamentals you need: smooth & clean dance space, comfortable learning environment, and good beats. Wish they would pull out the bleachers some for us parents! This is a fairly new community center. I hope to see some classes here soon either for the kids or adults like they have at other community centers. They gym is used almost every evening, but there is also a computer lab, art room, no fitness center. That would be a great addition. The one closest to this one would be the seven trees community center on capitol, they have my favorite "Zumba". There is plenty of parking specifically for this community center. It's close to the Edenvale Library, walking distance. Right next to Levin boys and girls club and shares the Davis Middle school track field. So there is a section where you can run the track, play soccer or football.
