Since I hit 30, I felt I was way too old for booty shaking at the clubs, and honestly, I can no longer blame things on the alcohol. With that said, I signed up ballroom dance lessons for me and the hubby, since I still love music and dance. We went yesterday, not knowing what to expect, as it was at a community center. But when we pulled up, we were so pleasantly surprised. The center was HUGE, and had a library attached to it. Inside, everything was brand new and modern. They had a full indoor court basketball, real dance studio, art rooms, gym, etc. Everything you could want in a community center. Last time I went to a community center was back in high school at Hank Lopez, during the breakdancing days. This was nothing like that. It's like comparing Story Road to Los Altos Hills. The dance studio was beautiful, with a wall of mirrors and bars to do those leg things on. For an 8 week dance class meeting once a week for 1 hour, we paid $80. Last night we learned how to 2-step and waltz. My hubby, a reformed gangster Korean with zero rhythm was able to remember all the steps, keep up with the class, and overall have a great time! We will be taking more classes here, and we will be recommending it to our friends. It's a great way to keep the relationship fresh. Next time...cooking...painting.....yoga....pilates....even bollywood dancing....the options at Almaden Community Center are endless. :)

We LOVE our community center! it's nice and clean and very friendly. My 2 kids are taking classes at this place. The Tiny Tots is a super popular class with Mrs Kriss. it's simply the best for the price and also - they do an amazing job with the kids too! My 3 year-old daughter loves it so much - she is crying when the class/semester is over. We sign up for the following semester every time, and when we have to wait for 2 weeks or so for the new one to begin, my daughter is driving me crazy... she loves it so much, she is asking about it every day. I highly recommend this place for any of your needs, the library there is beautiful too. New and clean.

There aren't many cars on the roads between 10am-12noon, so it's a breeze riding a bike around and resting for a hydration stop here. Tiny public parking lot onsite off Milpitas Blvd. Hidden Lake neighborhood have peaceful homes and nice walking paths to get a glimpse of the small lake sometimes filled with ducks. You can easily walk up and down stairways or bike around the neighborhood area near the homes. Yes, there are picnic tables and families do stop to enjoy small gatherings. Hidden Lake Park is not far from retailers/restaurants/grocery stores/fast foods/etc. Convenient. Not many visitors on weekdays. It's always clean when I stop by seasonally for a morning biking routine. The clouds look great outside today, so it wasn't too hot under the sunshine. Overall, good place to chill before continuing onto Milpitas Blvd. where there's bike friendly streets now. Easy to follow the paths and navigate around town.

Due to being part of a community, there are a ton of guest parking (especially near the gates to this park) BUT if you keep driving, the parking lot for this "park" is on the outside (you turn in with the sign "HIDDEN PARK LAKE" in green lettering/tanish brown background and there are a few spots for you to pick from). Two stairways up to other flat cement ground trails. Very quarry lake vibes but not much water. Lake itself is a smaller circular flat cement ground leveled trail. Regarding up the stairs: One way does end up at another park whereas the other way just ends up in another neighborhood/main road. Lack of shade. Lots of ducks. There's few places to sit. Few trash bins. No visible toilets.

Lauren Correia, the Guest Services Manager and previously the Sales Manager, was truly one of the highlights of my time there. She was always warm, responsive, and incredibly helpful whenever questions came up regarding fees, renewals, or membership matters. She consistently made the experience feel personal and easy. Since then, my son has attended both camp and several Parents' Night events, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kids World. The entire team is exceptional. I have experience with other children's camps, and Dasha Nonkin, the Kids Club Manager, really stood out. She was thorough, kind, organized, and very detail-oriented. It is clear that she takes tremendous pride in the camp program and in creating a meaningful experience for the children. My son was treated like gold. He did incredibly well, learned so much, and came away with stronger social skills, a better understanding of teamwork, and so much enthusiasm for the arts and crafts, projects, and activities. He genuinely raved about his experience and wants to continue to join future camps! I am extremely grateful to Dasha and the entire Kids World team for creating such a positive, enriching, and caring environment for him.

Remember those days in the playground and their climbing structures? Well, as an adult, The Peak is the place to reignite that hobby and enjoy the sport with a rich community of professionals and enthusiasts. This huge facility is shared among The Peak's climbing structures, an indoor volleyball court, a casual restaurant, and a small arcade. There aren't many parking spots up front but around the back of the building, you'll see plentiful spots. Once you enter the building, head to the left through the glass doors where you'll see the many climbing walls speckled with multiple colored protrusions. The pricing is transparent and it's all available upfront. They do have day passes, multi-visit passes as well as memberships that will waive your entrance fee. In addition to the entrance fee, you may also be required to pay for the harness and shoe rentals (members get a discounted price). They also have chalk for the more advanced climbers. If it's your first time, consider completing the waiver online ahead of time. You may be asked to go through a quick orientation regarding the use of their auto-belay system, however if you already know how to belay traditionally, they may ask you to go through additional training just to be sure. Each wall seemed to feature a variety of colors to distinguish the different difficulty levels for more advanced climbers. Aside from the walls, they also have a huge structure designed for bouldering with a thick padded floor underneath. The boulder and auto-belay walls seemed the most popular but it didn't seem there was much waiting given the ample space in the facility. There was certainly enough climbing space for everyone. As a novice, the activity was fun and tiring; there's definitely a balance between technique and strength! Despite having entry for the whole day, we definitely were tired out within an hour of constant climbing and by hour two, it was just about time to leave and refuel. Fortunately, the location of this space is quite convenient due to having a restaurant right on site as well as its proximity to the highway and other eateries just a few minutes away. The staff were friendly and informative. Besides the initial onboarding, there wasn't much interaction with them. They seem to keep things organized, cleaned and well-maintained. Overall, The Peak does a fantastic job introducing the sport of climbing to the local community and providing a clean and safe environment for newbies and experts alike. The price is reasonable for an all day activity and even more so if you become a member. For kids, they also have camps to build a new passion and train them up as climbers. For the more serious climbers, you may want to consider investing in the equipment to further save on the rentals. If this is a new challenge for you, take the opportunity to get in on this sport! The Peak makes it relatively easy to pick this up and continue leveling up with each visit!

The trail was absolutely beautiful, even with a light drizzle along the way. Rain or shine, we still show up and that's something I'm really proud of. I'm so happy to say that my stamina is getting stronger with every hike. Each time we head out, I can feel the progress. The hills feel a little less intimidating, the miles go by a little easier, and my confidence grows a little more. When we reached the top and looked out over Lake Del Valle, the view was breathtaking, calm, peaceful, and completely worth the climb. Moments like that remind me why I keep pushing forward.
