One thing I realize as I grow is how business has changed literally everywhere, especially when it comes to personalized customer service. This is a thing that appears to be gone in the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes stores. Being that I am Transgender, perhaps I worry about this factor a bit more than others because I am in a class of people that is not the common everyday people. Maybe you would not think it matters but it REALLY does. There are many people and probably a majority of people that do not yet understand so some people can be rather standoffish, confused or even very rude. In fact, most people haven't figured out how to address trans people yet. It is sad but it is true. Because engaging with people can be awkward at times, I have gotten used to cracking a quick joke or two about myself during this process to more or less get this out in the open, add levity or even remove the elephant in the room. It seems to work well for me. I looked at my Sales Associate and said, "Yall must not have many Trannys come in off the street to buy lumber." He looked at me and said, "No, we really don't. In fact I have never met one before." We both got a pretty good laugh and he really became great to work with and treated me with respect. My Sales Associate was a young man named Brett Burdick. When I entered Savemore and after a friendly greeting, he offered to help me with the long and arduous task of planning a rather huge deck. I was struggling with a rather crude illustration I had made to explain what I needed to assemble my project, Brett smiled, took my drawing and said, "Let me help you with that." He began clicking away at the computer and after a slightly uncomfortable and silent five minutes, he handed me back a printout of building materials I would need with a price and everything. I was so relieved, the printouts even included screws, lag bolts and flashing. He had thought of every detail and it was under my budget. This was absolutely paramount to me as I barely knew what I was doing and as you can probably guess, this was a very intimidating process for me. In my mind, Mr. Burdick really stepped up to do his job at the risk of fellow employees perhaps assaulting him with bad tranny jokes after I had left the store. This is just a reality and these things happen more than you can imagine. I think it is just a way for people to deal with something they don't see on a daily basis. I thanked him for a good experience, for treating me so well and most of all for making me feel like a human being. It turns out Brett Burdick's family owns this company. A very good company with a very friendly culture. This really is huge because as you know, in any organization culture breeds from the top down and all the employees at Savemore reflect Brett's friendly and helpful attitude and I would never shop for lumber or building supplies anywhere else again. Even if Home Depot was cheaper which it really is not, the service I continue to get from Mr Burdick and staff is simply worth more to me than being ignored at Home Depot. I could go on and on about this company but they is so many hours in a day. This is an important review because I feel like I made a good friend that day and smaller companies like Savemore are getting rare. I really hope everybody sees this and goes in to buy from the Burdick family and continues to support this family built business.You will be glad you did. I've been threatening to come to bargain hunt for a couple years now. I had helped install some…read morecabinets from here in the past that a friend who got a great price. Bargain Hunt is essentially an overstock location for huntwood cabinets (fancy cabinets). They also carry their own line of Shaker cabinets that appeared to be very well built. With a couple projects in mind I came here with a friend to see what they have. I was super impressed! When you walk in it looks like a standard cabinet store with some really nice layouts and some beautiful kitchen setups that I can't afford! You can walk back into a large Warehouse area where all the items are for sale. They have a huge selection of hardware and the best prices I've ever seen for nice slider hinges. They have 15 inch sliders for $12 and you can upgrade to the soft close for an additional $10. I've typically seen these in Home Depot type stores for closer to $40. They also had a bunch of bathroom and kitchen cabinets that were returned for whatever reason. If you can make them work for your situation then you can get an unbelievable deal on a high-quality set of cabinets. They also have a big room full of drawers that have been returned or not used. Any size is $8, but they are not finished - essentially a nice plywood box. In my case I'm going to use them to make pull-out shelves in a pantry. There are also tons of different types of trim and molding litter for sale. You won't be able to beat the prices, but these may be older styles..... if that matters to you at all. Many of the styles are pretty classic and you'd never know that they weren't still in production. If you're willing to do a little bit of work yourself and need high-quality materials at very reasonable prices, then Bargain Hunt is the place for you!

FMI completed cabinets for my entire house in less time than anticipated, and despite a very busy schedule, immediately fixed several small things that came up. They are responsive, helpful with suggestions, accommodating, and so easy to work with. One thing that stood out was how with the other manufacturers, I would spend two hours discussing options and leave feeling like I neither learned nor resolved anything. In meetings with John Freeze, I never needed more than an hour and would always leave feeling like we had made tons of progress. I called Cabinet Systems and am blown away with the service and product they made. Alex came by the very next day (Dressed appropriately with appropriate tools - and on time) to measure my space and discuss options. He never pressured me towards buying anything. He just listened to my needs and left the rest up to his designs. He designed me a basic system the very next day and made time that was convenient for me to come in and discuss design. He let me build up my design to fit my taste, needs and budget. His warehouse has so many great style options to choose from. When the install day came they were on time and install was a very clean and quick process. I couldn't be happier. My closet was just installed Friday and i am already saving to have 3 more closets done in my house.
