One thing I realize as I grow is how business has changed literally everywhere, especially when it comes to personalized customer service. This is a thing that appears to be gone in the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes stores. Being that I am Transgender, perhaps I worry about this factor a bit more than others because I am in a class of people that is not the common everyday people. Maybe you would not think it matters but it REALLY does. There are many people and probably a majority of people that do not yet understand so some people can be rather standoffish, confused or even very rude. In fact, most people haven't figured out how to address trans people yet. It is sad but it is true. Because engaging with people can be awkward at times, I have gotten used to cracking a quick joke or two about myself during this process to more or less get this out in the open, add levity or even remove the elephant in the room. It seems to work well for me. I looked at my Sales Associate and said, "Yall must not have many Trannys come in off the street to buy lumber." He looked at me and said, "No, we really don't. In fact I have never met one before." We both got a pretty good laugh and he really became great to work with and treated me with respect. My Sales Associate was a young man named Brett Burdick. When I entered Savemore and after a friendly greeting, he offered to help me with the long and arduous task of planning a rather huge deck. I was struggling with a rather crude illustration I had made to explain what I needed to assemble my project, Brett smiled, took my drawing and said, "Let me help you with that." He began clicking away at the computer and after a slightly uncomfortable and silent five minutes, he handed me back a printout of building materials I would need with a price and everything. I was so relieved, the printouts even included screws, lag bolts and flashing. He had thought of every detail and it was under my budget. This was absolutely paramount to me as I barely knew what I was doing and as you can probably guess, this was a very intimidating process for me. In my mind, Mr. Burdick really stepped up to do his job at the risk of fellow employees perhaps assaulting him with bad tranny jokes after I had left the store. This is just a reality and these things happen more than you can imagine. I think it is just a way for people to deal with something they don't see on a daily basis. I thanked him for a good experience, for treating me so well and most of all for making me feel like a human being. It turns out Brett Burdick's family owns this company. A very good company with a very friendly culture. This really is huge because as you know, in any organization culture breeds from the top down and all the employees at Savemore reflect Brett's friendly and helpful attitude and I would never shop for lumber or building supplies anywhere else again. Even if Home Depot was cheaper which it really is not, the service I continue to get from Mr Burdick and staff is simply worth more to me than being ignored at Home Depot. I could go on and on about this company but they is so many hours in a day. This is an important review because I feel like I made a good friend that day and smaller companies like Savemore are getting rare. I really hope everybody sees this and goes in to buy from the Burdick family and continues to support this family built business. You will be glad you did. If you run into Brett Burdick, please tell him Breezy, his new Tranny friend sent you in. I am confident you will both chuckle and you will have a great experience at Savemore Lumber. I hope this heartfelt review helps and if you made it this far, thank you.

He not only listened . . . he actually understood the look I was trying to achieve. He sees the subtle coloration in the rocks (as do I) and has a very artistic eye. And, he guided me throughout this process. When I went to the yard to select rocks, I was greeted by Bud, the dog (in addition to the staff). Bud is super cool and was just another positive aspect of this experience for me. I am particular and had a vision in mind, so it was important that the end result achieved the goal. Hans, who was easy-going and quite personable, did the placement work. He moved the gigantic claw arm with utter precision and had an artist's eye for placement! And, he was so very patient as I asked to tweek the rock placement. When the rocks were set, he even used the claw to level out the soil. This experience was PHENOMENAL and my yard is sculpted with boulders and eagerly awaits flowers and ornamental grasses. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

The only reason I'm not giving this a one star review is because ultimately we got the products…read more It took the National Customer Care person to facilitate it. We found LVP flooring that we wanted, it was in stock. The total was approximately $4500. Our flooring installer was to pick it up. Since we lived out of town and was doing this remotely, I wanted to put it on Amex. The (snotty) local "sales" guy (J?) said I could only make a down payment with the remainder being paid *in person*. Remember, we lived across the state and this work was being done in preparation for us moving into a new home the following month. I said that wouldn't work. He AGREED, happily. When I told our flooring contractor about it, he was incredulous. 28 years in the business and he had never heard of a customer not being able to pay in full. He called the LL corporate headquarters in Virginia and I was able to pay in full. However, when the guys went to pick the materials up they were told they needed to come back later. They could *see* the order. More BS. And another intervention by Val at corporate. They were able to get the material but it had been ** dumped ** behind their truck. As I'm reading this, it's hard to believe. We will NEVER do business there again. Oh, and the day after we got the flooring, they reduced the price in their supply. The Spokane sales guy must be a relative of the owner to be allowed to get away with this terrible treatment of customers.

I had 2 other people with me as witnesses, when I spoke to an employee, stating that I am doing a job that will take up to a year to do, and, would I be able to return any unused laminate if need be. I was told yes, as long as I had the receipt. Speed up to June 2020, I drive 2 1/2 hours to the Spokane Valley store, where I purchased the flooring. Mind you, this is AFTER the virus shutdown and all the other stuff going on in this world. I show up, to return the unused boxes and underlayment. I was told that I could not return them because it was past the 90 days, and, that particular flooring was now obsolete. I explained to him what was said by his employee, and that I drove 2 1/2 hours to return it. He did not care. Now, reminding you, we were all in shut down by the 90 days. They did not care. I asked him how was I to know that the flooring I choose, we now obsolete? He said that I wouldn't have known. So why is it that I have to pay the price for that? And, why do I have to pay the price for having left overs, when I asked the employee if I could return it within a year? How can a company not stand by there employees words? I am extremely disappointed and will never shop ever, at any of these stores. I really did not like the way the flooring was made and how it clicked together. It was poorly made. But, I got what I paid for. If you ever ask for something more than the store is willing to do, if you know, put it in writing! I sure wish I had! But either way, know this store will NOT stand by whatever its employees say. I really hope this store will close down. I do not see how it could stay open with customer service like this. Especially in todays world where this are not normal. Business are closing right and left. I would expect better from this company.
