We ate here on a Friday. Good barbecue however their fried Okra was amazing. Best i have ever eaten. Potato salad was good too. Our Friends had burgers and they were great. We wanted to go back on Saturday however they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. read more

This was a joke! We were referred here by Fort gate guard for the "best ribeye steaks". When we arrived we were informed they don't do steaks (internet pics were awesome!). Second choice was a bison burger...NOPE... out of bison. We are all still standing at front counter where order was to be placed. OK, have you got a menu we can sit down and study??? NOPE‼ Only one (really???) menu! So our only other choice was to leave. I don't think we were asking for too much but apparently they did! Won't have to worry about us again! One of the best brisket sandwiches I've had in my life and I've had a ton of bbq since it's my favorite genre of food. This brisket was moist, soft, tender. The bbq sauce was home made and had a spicy delicious taste to it. Best bbq sauce I've had thus far. And to top it all off I had the onion rings, which seemed to be dipped in a homemade batter that literally activated my taste buds. The restaurant features a rustic and casual feel, with concrete walls. The restrooms and dining areas are clean and comfortable. You have the option of refillable sodas. I have lunched here several times and always get friendly service. If you walk away hungry it's your own fault! I particularly love the baked potato special day, which you can load with meats or dairy to your heart's content. The front room/dining area is stocked with shelves of books and a tv just in case you need a spot to hang out. Stop by if you are visiting in the area or just passing through. This spot is amazing! We went for the Friday steak night, and the food was incredible! Freshly cut ribeyes are perfectly seasoned and grilled exactly the way you order it. The best Brisket around! When the brisket runs out and your hungry- their burgers are excellent as well. We come to Fort Clark Springs every winter and we make sure we stop by Ziggy's pretty regular. Homely barbecue joint a block away from the Valero gas station. The atmosphere is friendly and the service is great. You judge a bbq place by its brisket and it didn't disappoint. Had a word with the owner and gave me a sample of turkey. THE SMOKED TURKEY IS AMAZING. What the heck? This tiny place in the middle of nowhere has the BEST ribs I've ever eaten. Here it is, the next day, and I am on the computer to write a review. Yes, it was THAT good. Amazing bark on the ribs and brisket (but not hard!) And the meat was pull-off-the-bone tender and juicy. I've never seen ribs this NATURAL and good. I didn't taste ANY sweet rubs or fake powders. It tasted like it was seasoned with salt, pepper, and 14 hours of low temps. My plate and a tea was about $23.80 so I had to sell some plasma to pay for it. I wish it was more reasonably priced. But well worth it once in a while. GREAT JOB! read more

Gonna buck the crowd here. BBQ a bit above average. I am spoiled however, hubby is a certified BBQ judge via Kansas City BBQ Society. We've sampled too many other places to count. No visible smoke ring and brisket bark was mediocre. Service is very fast, however if you are passing through, looking to rest and regroup they won't give you the Wi-Fi password. Not good as you are in the middle of nowhere and can need to check on things both at home and where you're going. Keep going. And no beer, you have to bring your own. Was in town visiting my buddy and he and his family took me here for dinner. Really great spot! We came on steak night and got steaks all around. It was a huuuuge cut of meat, seasoned and cooked perfectly, was so delicious, and came with a big ole baked potato. Absolutely love little hidden gems like this, felt very much at home and the staff was super friendly and took great care of us. We stopped at ziggy's on the way to Lake Amistad. They were out of ribs, but had brisket. We got chopped and sliced brisket sandwiches. Great char and smoke flavor. I recommend the chopped on homemade hoggie roll with onions , jalapeños and pickles ( wish they used hamburger dill) but over all it was a great stop! read more

Ziggy's place has great food. Hamburgers are supreme. Brisket juicy. Potato salad is well done but the portion is so small it is not worth the price as a side. Ziggy bakes his own buns daily. Do not pass up this place if u are hungry nothing compares in Del Rio. Del Rio has no place that is above a 4 Star. That place is a pizza place. I guess there is a BBQ that is a 4 Star Plus. I absolutely love this place. I probably eat here 2-3 times a week. They are slowly but surely updating the decor and it looks great! As soon as you walk in the wonderful smell of Texas BBQ hits you, along with the fat smile on your face because you know that you're about to quench your BBQ thirst. They open very early in the morning for those that want breakfast. Their tacos are very good! And I love their salsa! As for the lunch crowd, the have the usual BBQ staples. Brisket, sausage, turkey, and ribs. I've had all except for the ribs but I hear they are very good. The brisket is always consistently good. A very good smoke flavor and always tender. But I must say, the turkey is my absolute favorite ( mainly because I'm on a diet and that's what I usually get ). The turkey has an amazing mesquite smoke flavor and it is ALWAYS juicy and tender. If you're wanting something other than BBQ they have the best burgers in town! You can get fries, onion rings, or chips as a side. Or opt for the beans, potato salad, or macaroni salad. This place is legit. If you're traveling to big bend or Seminole Canyon from San Antonio, you should make a stop here. I've had brisket sandwich and the brisket was among the best I've had! Smoky, moist and flavorful. Prices are very reasonable and the interior and decor looks cool. Update: Some people have trouble finding this. I updated the location on yelp. I love a good barbecue. We are so incredibly lucky that the best barbecue in Texas is right here in this little town. I always have brisket whether it's in a sandwich or a salad. They can pile it on, it's my fave!! They have pretty incredible breakfast tacos too. My husband believes a good burger shouldn't need ketchup or mustard, the true test is ordering one dry and decide if it's a good without the "cover ups". Ziggy's makes that awesome burger that needs nothing added. I still love my ketchup and mayo haha... but yep, this place happens to cover it all when we are craving some beef. My wife, daughter and I were visiting family, coming from Virginia, and this was the only restaurant in town that seems to have consistent hours. We tried it 2 years ago and it was some of the best bbq I've had. We finally had a chance to go back again today for breakfast, and it was just as amazing! The breakfast tacos are sooo good and my 6 year old daughter demolished her breakfast platter plate. Went back for lunch again today and making sure we go back tomorrow for breakfast before heading back to Virginia. We are wrapping up a three week trip through central and southwest Texas, and have sampled a few BBQ joints along the way. Ziggy's was our first, and by far the best, even easily beating out the much touted Cooper's in Llano, which was indeed, good, but just can't hold a candle to the rich smoke flavor in Ziggy's meats. My five stars is specifically for the meats, as the sides are okay, but you know, sides -- I like a less sweet slaw. BUT, the smokey brisket, ribs, sausage were truly outstanding. It was a sheer accident that we wound up here. Our original intent was to stop for lunch in Uvalde on our way west to Alpine. Glad we kept going and stumbled on this little roadside joint in the little blink-and-you-miss-it burg of Brackettville. read more

Folks drive from the next town over for this place. And with West Texas driving distances, that's saying something. Their brisket and sides are great. But the gems are the ribs, and you better order no later than early lunch, because they run out almost every time. You can also get very large orders if you give them a heads up.
