My spouse subscribed to Zip car in Feb 2022. Used it once during that month, but left the subscription on inadvertently as we were caught up in a long drawn family medical issue. Did not recognize the recurring charges on the credit card as it came up garbled on the CC statement ( Sep 20, 2022 SEP-I-Z-35969529 Etobicoke, ON $13.55). We never realized it was a Zipcar recurring subscription billing. Tried to call my credit card to cancel this but they said the card will have to be cancelled and replaced - this was a bummer as there were other regular payments on the cards. ( We should have disputed the charge and cancelled in hindsight!) In December 2022 the CC the recurring billing showed up as ZipCar. (Jan 30, 2023 Zipcar Premium Protect Etobicoke $13.55) Finally called Zipcar yesterday and cancelled. Requested a refund for the months not used as their billing name was incorrectly provided on the statement. Obviously they did not agree citing their 'POLICY'. They did give a couple of months refund. But I paid $150 in services not used!! I told them about their mistake in 'camouflaged' charges on my card but their 'POLICY' overrode all my arguments (Like a commandment - "Thou shall not return monies to customer once in our bank account") . Lessons learned : - use one card to subscribe to all your services and auto payments. - check if the vendor's name shows up correctly and check how to unsubscribe. - credit cards will not help you with unsubscribing. Even if you cancel your card and replace, most probably the charge will continue on your new card ( please check). IMO, several subscription services that we do not need are gnawing away at your money in small mouse size bites. Subscribers be aware and take action ......

We've been with Zipcar for 9 years ! 9 years! Today was the end of our long tumultuous relationship. My husband and I have depended on them off and on. And we have finally ended our horrendous horrible relationship with them. The most recent was this thanksgiving weekend. Car was rented and confirmed and when we showed up. The scanner wouldn't work. Trying again and again then finally calling customer service. They were not helpful at ALL ! We had plans for the weekend. Hotel reservations booked. Family dinners confirmed. Unbelievable! There was nothing they could do. NOTHING ! The worst customer service. And NO quality control. DO NOT sign up with Zipcar. This is a warning. ! This was our final experience with them. And this is not to mention any of our other problems we've had in the past- They switched our SUV reservation for a cottage vacation to a compact car without notifying us. My husband had to travel to a different location further away to pick up a new SUV rental. The scanners/swipe cards work intermittently. - cars in horrible conditions / dirty, pet hairs / smells Smokey - very often the car is damaged. We had to drive 2 hrs to visit family with the front bumper held together with zip-ties. How ironic.

Providing decent customer service Unfortunately, this location does not check ANY of the above. Across 2 separate instances, I've had to bear the brunt of their shockingly poor attitude towards customers. Needless to say, I will NOT be back again. In the first instance, I booked a 7-seater van rental. When I reached them, I was told that they do not hold ANY 7-seaters at their location. I had to make last-minute arrangements by finding an additional driver and overpaying for a 5-seater, since it was also a long weekend. I thought that this may just be an error in the travel aggregator website, so I thought I'll try them again. I made a reservation for 4 PM on Saturday afternoon. Since their location closes at 4 PM, we decided to be there 10 minutes early, and we see that they had already CLOSED their location! Unfortunately, this meant that we were unable to get a car that weekend and had to cancel our plans. I was there at the location till 4:20 and no one showed up. Finally, I thought I'd call up the store the next day to at least get a chance to speak with the manager and raise my concerns. Instead of even accepting that there may have been a fault, she quickly absolved the location of any blame by giving a ridiculous excuse ("the staff may have gone to use the washroom"). As others have said before, this is definitely the last time I try using either this location OR any Dollar/Thrifty location anywhere. As a customer, there's enough choices out there that I don't need to go through them.

It's located in the basement and it's a bit tricky to get there. I rented a car here for a relatively good price (after comparing different rental companies). The Hertz site and app are generally pretty bad, but I did appreciate they sent me a lot of info / pdfs / receipts. I rented an EV, but it didn't come fully charged (came around 40%) even though it said it would come charged at 80%. This was fine though as they said I could just return it with the same charge and were generally pretty accomadating. The car was in generally good shape, but the EV was missing a charging adapter which was a bit annoying. I later found out that EVs are supposed to have adapters but my vehicle didn't have it. And I couldn't check in the Hertz parking lot as it was impossible to open the trunk. I would also recommend you take pictures of the car before driving away since the pictures in the pdf they sent me didn't match what I actually got. The parking lot is also quite cramped and the Hertz lot is located several floors underground which makes getting there a hassle.

At one point, the staff told us to rent from Avis if we want better service. We waited 20 minutes for help at the desk because one of the employees had gone on break within the first 30 minutes of the store being open. A long line had formed. Then we got an attitude when we finally received help. They made up policies and rules that don't exist. Total liars. They charged us for things without telling us. When we went to the garage, the car wasn't ready, and it had only half a tank of gas. Then we got an attitude when we pointed out that the car was supposed to be ready an hour earlier. Do not go here. I will never, ever go to Hertz again.

It wasn't the cheapest rental but as Avis is partnered with Aeroplan, I went with them. I noticed after a few days, my aeroplan points had not been deposited to my account.. so I tried the online method to no avail it was giving me an error The website said to wait as it can take a few weeks to deposit. I waited 4 weeks and nothing.. I called the customer service line and Omar told me I hadn't entered my aeroplan# at time of booking.. I had it was on my emailed confirmation... Must have been deleted when all my extras for deleted during the payment process .. Omar out a ticket to the QI team and said it will take upto 30 days but the points would be deposited when they fixed what ever issue there was.. 30 days went by and nothing. I called back on day 30. Adel told me the QI team closed the ticket because my Aeroplan account # is invalid and nothing they can do and I needed to call Aeroplan to find out what's wrong with my account.. there is nothing wrong with my account I got all my other points from hotels and flights and partner purchases . I'm very active with my points. Aeroplan agent and her supervisor both looked into and then sent an escalation to Avis as Aeroplan cannot deposit points that Avis has already paid for to my account but definitely said that the points needed to be honoured. They said wait 4 more weeks and if nothing call back.. 4 weeks and nothing. So I called Aeroplan back. They said they can't go any further at that point but Avis needs to be granting the points so to call Avis and speak to a supervisor. I called and the agent that answered told me that my point were in the middle of processing.. it would take upto two weeks to see them reflected.. 2 weeks and still nothing.. I called back at the two week and got told it's still processing it will be another 7 days! I called back on day 7 ...no longer processing, and a note on my file saying points will not be granted because "car was not picked up from an airport" NOWHERE on the website during my booking process did it say you only get points if you pick from and airport! If my pickup location was not a valid location when I put my ff# in a window should have popped up advising me I would not get any points and ask me to confirm.. it did no such thing.. there is NOTHING in the terms and service to state this Nor is there anything under the partners section of the website for Aeroplan points.. I have searched high and low.. spoken to Aeroplan and travel agencies.. and this is a load of crap. I spoke to a supervisor Tyla and she was unhelpful as well.. when I asked her where it told me or how I was to know about only getting points if I pickup from airports rather than the city.. the only response "you will not be granted any points because you didn't pick up from an airport" she must have said that 12 times . She wouldn't answer any of my questions at all it was as though she had a script and that was the only thing on her script and she couldn't think of anything helpful on her own. I'm absolutely appalled that Avis is not honouring the contract they have with customers. ( Have read reviews I am not the only one not receiving points ..all reviews I've read have different excuses for not honouring) Air Canada and Aeroplan need to reevaluate their partnership with a company that does not honour their contracts. We were in Toronto during the time when there were protesters (opposing the Coastal GasLink pipeline in British Columbia) blocking the rail lines near Belleville, ON. We were supposed to go back to Ottawa by train, but all trains between Toronto and Ottawa were cancelled because of the protests (it was early on in the protests, so cancellations were made day by day, later on, cancellations were made farther in advance). We had to get back to Ottawa that day. Same day airfare was exorbitant. We learned of our cancellation at 8am, by that time all Greyhound buses departing Toronto for Ottawa that day were sold out. Our only choice was to rent a car and drive back ourselves. Fortunately, the weather was clear. We initially went to the National Car Rental location on Wellington St, since it was the closest to our hotel. When we arrived, the lady there told us that they had no cars! Their entire fleet was rented and out. We asked her if she could check the Billy Bishop Airport location, which she did and told us they had cars. We then asked her to reserve a car for us, which she did and wrote down the reservation number for us. Then we hightailed it to Billy Bishop. When we arrived, the place was packed with customers. It's a small kiosk in the middle of a parking lot. The man serving us was friendly and efficient. We explained to him what had happened at the Wellington St location and he found our reservation and processed the rental. It was a Sunday and most of their locations in Ottawa closed early. We had to work on Monday and didn't want to worry about having to return the rental in the morning, so we opted to return the car the same day to the only location in Ottawa opened late on Sunday: the Ottawa Airport location. I'm pretty sure you pay a premium to pick up and drop off at airports, and to drop off in a different city because it cost us around $265 for the same day rental (I think it's only like $50 for same day car rentals at other locations as long as you bring it back to the same place). Oh well, we were just happy to find a way home that wasn't going to cost us close to $1000 (the going rate for airfare that day). The process was quick and easy. Although we did not receive the rental agreement by email like they said we would. We only received something from National after we had returned the car to the drop off location. The Billy Bishop Airport location is completely paperless, so everything is digital there. Anyway, the car was in good condition. Although this location at Billy Bishop Airport does not have any water, so they cannot clean the outside of the car. Winters in Canada means dirty cars covered in salt, so the outside of the car was kind of dirty. Something to keep in mind if you are picking up a car here in the winter. Also since it's a small kiosk, if there are a lot of customers, you will be standing outside while waiting in line, also something to think about in the winters, lol. We received a courtesy voicemail and email from the Assistant Branch Manager the day after to follow up on our experience, which I thought was nice. Overall, we had a very good experience with National. We would rent from them again.
