Dined: 3.14.26: Came during the Tempe arts festival. While it was busy upon arrival, we were seated right away. We're told food may take 45min but it came out sooner. We REALLY wanted to like the food but it was BLAND, all of the food we ate. Chicken skewers had no flavor, my fries & sweet potato chips were stale (they brought me "fresh fries" but by then most my meal was done, I had to beg my family to eat them-they didn't). The spring roll wrapped mozzarella sticks were bland as well w/ not even a tiny cheese pull & the side sauces didn't help. The only reason my sandwich had flavor is b/c I got the one with all the jalapeños. Server was friendly but for Zipps having slowed down by the time we got there & having given us a heads up they'll need more time in the kitchen, to then be served stale fries/chips, room temp food& bland.... was wild! Popped in for lunch while the wife was at Dazey. Stopped in after the ASU bowl game and we got a table right away despite it being packed. They were pretty busy and the kitchen was very backed up. Although food was coming up on the order counter fast the servers seemed confused and didn't get it out timely. We ordered drinks and somehow 3 people in our party had to ask 3x before their water came out. We had about 8 people in our party and eventhough our order went in together food came out at different times. Some of our orders were messed up and missing items and we had to wait for the corrections. When we noticed them it was wrong the server just let out a huge sigh and stomped back to the kitchen as if it was our fault. One of the members of our party didn't get their food I think they forgot to put it in. His food came out after we noticed 2 people and we were almost done. They need a better system so many receipts hanging and food sitting under lights and servers standing around looking lost and confused. They had enough staff on duty but I suggest they have a meeting and discuss order and responsibilities. The restrooms were unkempt, food service disorderly. The cooks and the hostess and busboys and bartenders seemed to man their stations well. Those in between need some work. My Salad was decent and wings hot and spicy with good flavor. Beware if you get dipping sauce such as ranch they charge per sauce. read more

I ordered a Cobb Salad and Nachos here and the Nachos I did my best until I couldn't any longer. I would pick up a chip and the whole plate would come up. Incredibly soggy and couldn't pull a chip apart from the microwaved or opened cheese. They were just bad. Told manager and he denied that they looked bad by observation even when I proved what I said visually. Said because I ate a 1/3 he would still charge me full price. I was upset and the manager was incredibly rude. I waited for the check after watching game and was thinking because I ate and drank there for a few hours he would have taken care of it. No such luck. I hate a choice to take it out on the tip of the nice ladies there or take the high road. I took the high road. Just wanted to make it clear the manger at this location in Tempe is a complete joke and should never have management position after looking at nachos and what I was explaining and still siding with his business. Haven't yelped in years. This guy deserves it. Total ego loser and not for customers. Bartenders all agreed and felt sorry Manager, Hispanic guy looked not sure his name, clearly isn't qualified for customer service. Stopped by here for lunch while I was in town for a work conference. I'm not from this area but the food was good. I will say [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was here around lunchtime during the weekday and there weren't many people inside so your experience may vary.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But I ordered the mozzarella stick which for some reason comes wrapped in egg roll wrapping. We had an enjoyable visit to Zipps when in Tempe recently. My daughter and I were in town to attend the NCAA Final Four and wanted to watch the women's Final Four in a sports bar. We arrived an hour or so before the game began & were able to choose the best table to watch the game. We were glad about that because the place filled up as it got closer to game time. We ordered drinks, and my daughter selected the corn dog appetizer basket. My daughter loved the corn dogs. As the place filled up, service got really spotty. I ended up ordering additional drinks by going up the bar. I then had to chase down to get our check as the game was ending. All in all, a good experience. Very cool place to watch sports! read more

I'd say that Zipps deserves both of these stars. When you walk in, it's LOUD but hey, it's a sports bar. There is amble over-stimulation but again, to be expected. The server was friendly and she shared some ideas about the menu which we appreciated. Then came the wait. We were a party of 8. The first two meals came out. Then a few minutes later the third. Then the fourth. Then the appetizers and then the last four meals. The Chicken focaccias were fine. The wings were fine. The fries were limp and soggy. We finally got the servers attention to ask for silverware because it hadn't been delivered. And we had to ask for water refills which they do one at a time. They literally take a glass away and walk somewhere to fill it and then come back for the next one. With so many choices so close by, I'll pass on Zipps next time. read more

Last week, after church, I decided to stop by Zipps to catch the end of a playoff game. Much to my delight, the wings I ordered were exceptionally crispy--a first for me, as they're usually on the soggier side. I was so thrilled with the unexpected crispiness that I might have even done a little food dance! I enjoyed my time at the bar, where the service was excellent. Although I'm not typically a huge fan of pizza, I find Zipps' pizza slices to be particularly tasty. I'm hopeful that this newfound extra-crispy wing experience wasn't just a one-time occurrence! Grant was our server and he handled this very massive party with ease! We recommend the Zipparitas because no matter how small they appear they very much pack a punch! I had the GrandMarier variation which easily was so strong it might make a pirate pass out! Also, don't be fooled by their 'fish taco' it's not one. We went to Zipps for one drink and a snack. The bartender and server did not know how to make the drink we requested, they brought our quesadilla out with no napkins, plates or silverware. Upon eating we realized they brought our quesadilla out with marinara and not salsa. Nice, but literally didn't care about anything not did anyone ask how things were going. My coworkers wanted to check out the Handlebar on Mill in Tempe after work on a Wednesday, and found out they were closed! We headed next door to Zipps instead. We would sit inside but it was god-awfully loud in there with all the TVs blasting, so we opted to sweating outside on their patio. Really wish they had misters. Oh well, at least it wasn't busy at all. Our server was super friendly and attentive. She got our first round of drinks and never strayed too far for too long. Of course, as the night progressed and more drinks and coworkers arrived, then more servers began bringing out the food and drinks. I ordered a Tito's and coke and boy was it strong! I appreciated that, but once the ice melted, it wasn't easy going down - too much syrup, blah. Prices are just outrageous. I thought it said $6 Tito's for happy hour but I must've missed the 8-10PM time frame because my bill said $7.25 for the drink (it was only a "single" glass too). The table ordered nachos, pretzel bites, wings, and more and everything was pretty good. My favorite was the pretzel bites, but definitely tasted like what you'd expect a bar on Mill to taste like. I have never written a negative Yelp review before, but this experience was unbelievable. My group came in, ordered drinks, and were just trying to enjoy our time. Shortly after, the manager came over and told us we had to leave because one of the IDs was not valid, and they actually took the ID. We explained that we needed it for a flight home and asked if they could call the non emergency line to verify. A few minutes later, another employee came by and apologized, saying they just had never seen an Arkansas ID before. We thought it was cleared up, but then later someone else came over again and said we had to leave because they heard our conversations about the situation and just wanted us gone. Meanwhile, multiple staff members were openly talking about it and making faces in front of us, which was incredibly uncomfortable. They made us pay for the drinks and would not even let us finish them. When we asked why, one of the staff members said, "Yeah, I bet your parents paid for it anyway." The communication between staff was chaotic. Three different employees gave us three completely different explanations, and not one handled it professionally. We were there for lunch that took almost 2 hrs. Group of 4. Waited for service, our waitress explained she was new. We totally understand that. Food finally came for 3 of us. We notified both the person the food, and our waitress. The 4th persons good came after the 3 of us were done. One of the parties asked to speak to the manager to request the 4th lunch compensated. The manager finally came over, we explained that it was not the waitresses fault, and he commented "oh good, I won't have to fire her". Her then went on to explain the cool staff is all new. Didn't show any empathy or apologized. He then went to talk to our waitress. Asked for our check 3 times and was told she had to talk to the manager about compensation for the 4th lunch. We saw the manager and her talking 3 times. Finally I indicated I'll just pay for all the lunches and left. We had contemplated leaving the money on the table (minus the lunch that was extremely late), but my fear was our waitress would end up having to pay for it. The god was not good either. The onion rings were hard, the sandwiches thrown together. The fries were good. If I could rate this as zero I would. Coming from this service industry (as both waitress and manager), the manager did not handle this situation well at all. You could tell the waitress was upset and frazzled and avoiding out table.
