The whiz on the Philly steak is a clumpy cheese sauce that was wasn't mixed well and purely liquid. It's your typical dive bar, which I enjoy. No complaints with regard to service as the staff was nice and quick. Unfortunately the first cup my drink came out in was incredibly dirty with dishwasher residue. Our server was embarrassed and told us so. I assured her that it wasn't her fault or the bartender's fault, this is the fault and neglect of management. Service is less than 2 stars. I just started work nearby and have been in more than 10 times in two months. There will be a busy bar and the office at the left end of the bar will have both bartenders in it. You wait for everything while they're in doing I don't know what. People come in, sit at the bar, you can SEE them on their phones and chit-chatting in the office while they ignore the customers. Silverware should be automatic when ordering food. More than half the time I have had to sit and wait. And wait. And wait. (see the office comment above) with food in front of me until someone notices. Order more than 2 drinks at the bar and they miss something nearly EVERY time. Management needs to get a clue and train their people. Because the product is amazing. They automatically add a 2% credit card fee when bringing your tab without asking you before if you're paying with cash or card. Deceptive! If you're paying with cash you have to wait for the server to come back and tell them to remove it or just overpay by 2%. What a shameful money grab! We were then approached at our table by the very passive-aggressive bartender, who claimed she knew how to pour a Guinness and felt insulted that we were telling her how to do her job. I felt very uncomfortable and asked if that bartender was the manager on duty, and was told it was. The management at Priest is top notch...his name is Kacy... he will treat you right every time! The servers and the bartenders are amazing and they all work with a server mentality... The kitchen Chef is Francisco... Top-notch...top-notch! Kudos Francisco!...thank you for being amazing and having an ownership mentality in everything that you do! It's OK. Hit or miss on the service, food, and if they have the game you want to watch. I do enjoy the TVs on the table. I can choose my game and may even get lucky with the sound actually working. I have been to all the Philly's locations throughout the Valley. Normally, the food is decent, service superb and a warm sporty ambiance. Unfortunately, this location may be the neglected red-headed stepchild. The place is dirty, outdated and overall unkept. If they are aiming to be a hole-in-the-wall, they've surpassed those very low standards. These observations are from multiple visits. Hoping for improvements each time, but always disappointing. At least they're consistent. Most recently the bathroom was atrocious! Dirty, stained, forgotten & smelly. Not what you would want to be attached to a place you want to have a meal at. Speaking of meals, I ordered the traditional Philly. It was served without Au-Jus!!! And then took over 5 mins to flag a server down to get some. The service overall was good. It seemed that the manager and every other server, except the one that took our drink and food order, checked in on us regularly. In a previous visit, we came in around 10:40 and told the server that we were starving but needed to unwind with a cold beverage first after a long event. She provided us menus and our drinks then disappeared. We finally flagged her down at 11:00 pm to which she informed us that the kitchen had closed. We were dumbfounded! We had told her we wanted to order, yet she didn't make an effort to come back and take our food order (and give the restaurant more business while padding her tip). We promptly paid our bill and departed for another establishment that was more than happy to take our money and a server eagerly working for the well-earned gratuity. The only reason I come back to this location is when local friends send an invite. Not a great draft beer selection, but doable to spend time with friends. This location, however, has been hit or miss, but it's super convenient to our new digs. Our experience at this locale has been friendly on our multiple visits every month, but extraordinarily inconsistent.... Tonight was different. We opted for tater tots with our sandwich that we split. Probably an entire tablespoon of oil at the bottom of the bowl... my God! The kicker was the cocktails... I have been coming to Philly's for a few years now. Not just this location but the location on Scottsdale as well. The staff at this location is friendly, inviting, and attentive. The place can become a little busy but the staff acknowledges the customer instead of just ignoring them. The food is really tasty and comes out at the appropriate time. The vibe of the place is chill, laid back, sports bar, but a vibe that makes you feel comfortable. I saw a review that said he visited 10 times and now writes a review bashing the staff. I had to write a review to stick up for the staff and place. If you were really that unhappy you are not coming back 10 times. It's really disheartening that people go to this lengths. I tried the philly cheese sandwhich. It was missing flavor, it was bland. Meat and cheese; that's it. Looking back on the menu, it was probably the "TRADITIONAL PHILLY" so I'd stay away from that one, go for one of the others for more satisfaction for your money. I also tried the Rocky Point Tacos on corn tortillas. It was good, but what would make it better is getting some more of the " spread "; the menu specifies a guacamole cream cheese but after you squeeze the lime on it, I was thinking this whole time it was a cilantro lime dressing. But if they had put more of that on there, one word, yum! I also tried the pretzel bites, the cheese sauce was really salty and tasted microwaved but I still managed to eat it. The pretzel bites are great tho! I will say this, the food temperatures were great. The meat was hot but not too hot to eat and the veggies, salsa, were cold as it should be. Bathrooms and dining was clean as well. No funky smells. Didn't smell like cigarettes either. They were playing music like Tom Petty and Journey genre. It had a chill and relaxing feel to I'd def go back to try the other phillys in the future and the actual pretzel with the Siracha queso. I love coming here to watch any fight or any sports event. You walk in and you were able to see your self. Most of the booths inside have their own TV at them so it's very convenient to watch whatever sport event is going on. They also have a outdoor patio and an outdoor bar with TVs as well so when there is a big event on they play the sound throughout the entire restaurant. They have cornhole on the outdoor patio and they do allow dogs on the patio too. Inside they have pool that you can play too. They have a very big menu of a ton of great items to choose from I personally love the Asian chicken nachos, they are a fun twist to a nacho but have a very good sauce and are made with wonton chips. They have a ton of great beer on draft as well I personally like Kona big wave. The service is great as well. Definitely should try it out if you have not yet! read more
