We always see Zippy bikes renting near the Wildwood boardwalk so I was excited to check them out when we passed the brick-and-mortar store on Pacific Ave. My son needed a new bike so we were able to pick up a cool bike for him with a black Friday discount. The bike comes with free lifetime tune ups. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They rent bikes and drop off locally which is a plus. We will definitely be back. read more

Zippy's check in process is horrible and their prices are too high. They make you do their job and will not book you. You have to book yourself online. Instead of fixing their website to make the process easier so you can add an e-bike and 2 regular bikes on one order you have to place 2 separate orders. No thanks. Placing 1 Oder is painful enough and to pay $60 per bike when you only want to ride 2 hours is a rip off. We'll save the money and head to the beach. We'll get our free exercise by walking the boardwalk. Not a good customer experience and they are now on my banned list because they let us walk out the door without even trying to help us. read more

We were in the market for a child bike seat and a trip to Walmart came up empty. I asked a store associate for help and, although polite, they told me they were out of stock. Another customer overheard my conversation and recommended Zippy's in Wildwood. What a great move! So I go to Zippy's and Scott meets me outside (CoVid restrictions). I ask him if he has the seat that was posted on their website, and he confirms that it was in stock. Instead of selling me the seat and sending me on my way, he mentioned it was not a universal mounting seat and then asked me a few questions regarding the bike I was mounting it to. Since I could not answer the questions off the top of my head about the wheel size, type of brakes, etc., he recommended that I go back to the house and take another look at the bike before I pull the trigger on this expensive seat. I thought this was really admirable of Zippy's. They could have easily sold me the seat without me knowing if it would fit my bike correctly. Instead, they took the time to make sure the seat would work, and offered to help me if I ran into an issue with the bracing and thread inserts on the frame of the bike as I installed the seat. I installed the seat easily and I am really pleased with my purchase. I wanted to highlight the excellent customer service from Zippy's - I will surely be going back and supporting this local business. Thanks!! read more

FYI - The light and horn were not working on my Ancheer E-bike and I took it to Zippy's for repair. I was told they may not be able to repair it because they probably couldn't get the part but they would look at it. A week later I went back and was told they couldn't repair it because they couldn't get the part. They charged $100. for looking at it! (If they looked at it!!?!) I was NEVER told there would be a charge for "looking at it" let alone a$100. charge - It is not posted anywhere either! I think they should inform the customer before hand that there is a $100. charge for "looking at a bike"! read more

I was very excited to enjoy the beautiful weather we have been getting with a "geared" bicycle to cruise the island. I walk into Zippys at Noon; they quote me $100.00 to rent the bicycle for the half a day (they informed me they have a flat rate). Yes, $100.00 to rent a geared bicycle, not a boat, not a car but a bicycle. I non verbally communicated the ridiculousness of this and the sales person didn't seem to care. I walked out and didn't get to enjoy the day riding. However the next day I drove to Cape May, and rented a geared bicycle for the entire day for $14.00- which is about right. I think price gouging is in poor taste and where they got this figure from is beyond me. read more

Staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. Inventory is vast but specific orders can be placed, which is what I did for the exact Trek I wanted. I added a rack and basket to be installed too, as well as the customary Zippy's kickstand. All told, that took 2 weeks which I found to be reasonable. I also received a very helpful consult about a helmet and bike lock. Prices were fair and the service was exceptional. GREAT shop! read more

My bike broke while I was on vacation in wildwood. My crank arm fell off and was missing the nut that held it in place. All I needed was the nut and them to screw it on, bc I didn't have the proper socket. So I go to this store. I see any employee and say hello, he walks right past me without saying a word. After a few minutes another employee comes up to me. I tell her exactly what I need. She asks to see the bike and proceeds to tell me it's probably stripped. I give her the crank arm and she goes in the back to talk to the so called "mechanic". She comes back after a few minutes and tells me "the mechanic says it's stripped and it will take a month for the part to come in". So I leave the store. After I leave I order the nut from eBay it comes to my house within three days and install it myself and my bike is back to 100%. In conclusion this place is an absolute joke. All it needed was a nut. But without even looking at my bike, the so called "mechanic" says it's stripped and it will take a month to get the part. I'm very happy they didn't touch my bike though, because clearly they have no idea what they are doing and probably would have broke my bike and charged me an arm and a leg to fix it. read more

A wide variety of bicycles for every price point, two friendly "staff" dogs and every part you could ever need including the "Watch the Tram Car" bike mounted siren! Repair staff went above and beyond to fix my cousins bike, she came in for a seat repair but they made sure she would be safe riding by showing a few other concerns. I am an hour and half away. Tried to get the bikes I wanted at my local shop. When I went there they had nothing in stock. I was told everything was on back order and no idea when they would arrive. I called Zippy's and was told they had what I was looking for in stock! Drove an hour and half and what a surprise! Not only did they have both bikes I was looking for, but had plenty to choose from. All sizes and colors! You might think with the short supply of bikes that Zippy's would take advantage of the situation and over charge. That was not the case. This place could have been great if they took a lesson in customer service and deception before opening a bike shop. We prepaid for a week long rental online a few weeks in advance of going on our vacation to the shore (as I think most people who were traveling and like to plan would?!) and picked up our bikes fine and they were nice and moderately well kept. It wasn't until we had a family emergency come up and needed to return them early when this was an issue. We stopped in after our plans changed looking to return them for a partial refund for our unused days and were told that all online rentals needed to work through this other company who books it all online so (although frustrated) we called. No answer. Left a voicemail. Since other family members could have potentially used them for the few days we came home and waited for a response from the other rental company. The next day The rental company calls back and tells us that any kind of change needed to be worked out directly with the bike shop. Now you're starting understand where the problem and our story was. When we left the bike shop the day before the owner walked out and said hey if there was anything we can do at the shop will definitely take care of it but you need to do that through the online merchant. Ultimately we ended up getting $30 back from our rental in cash that made no sense as far as to the amount of the refund and I ultimately don't trust them as business owners or as people. There aren't many options to rent road bikes down here so I think will just end up having to bring them down from Philadelphia in the future. read more

Cell phones keep records and you only called once after I stopped in. (In April) Then you said you did not do repairs because u could not contact me . I gave you my number again you did call me then . I answered the phone you told me 250 repair for an 89 dollar bike from Walmart. I said oh my goodness I will come pick it up. I called dave the Next day and said I had an emergency w my dad in hospice I could not get back for another week. He said sure no problem. I came the following week to pick up bike and you wanted over 440 to store and move bike. I felt like it was horrible service and a way to rip off innocent people. My husband bought fenders for my bike from zippys (as well as the bike, mirror, cup holder, bell, etc) and gave them to me as a gift. I went to get the fenders installed and they told me they didn't fit my bike. (Again they sold everything to me). They then told me my bike was ready without telling me the fenders didn't fit. I then couldn't return the fenders because they were too scratched. They did nothing in return except make me apologize to them in store for being upset with them. (I told them they could keep the fenders and resell them to make money off of us). There are much better bike places on the island and we will be taking our business elsewhere which is a shame since we were returning customers multiple times. read more

I love bike shops, especially cute ones like this one located in a resort town. You ride around your beach cruisers and your tires get flat, and they come in very handy. But sometimes you may get a defective inner tube or something and their fix doesn't work. You call and explain your situation including that you are out of distance and can't bring the bike back. The simplest customer service would be a refund and it would continue to be the greatest bike shop ever! Not the case this time! It costed me $47.50 to replace both inner tubes and I was looking for a half refund for the defective one. They must be one of those businesses with high volume at a resort town and don't believe in customer service. Oh well, too bad that this bike shop just became a disappointing memory to a nice beach vacation. read more

I was back East visiting family and I wanted to get my niece a a bike for her birthday. I saw this place as I was driving by so I stopped in. HUGE mistake! While it was clean and looked pretty new the staff was... ambivalent at best. Not a single employee asked me if I needed help, one stayed on the phone and when I looked at him to signal him that I was waiting, he turned his back on me. I was finally able to get one guys attention, but I quickly felt as if I was disturbing him. I asked all of two questions and he said "I was heading out for a break, if you have a lot of questions, maybe I can get someone else to help you". I walked out.
