Zips Car Wash has been double charging me for months for a membership I never signed up for and never received an RFID tag for. When I brought it to their attention, they refused to refund me and could not provide any signed paperwork or proof that I authorized a second membership. I was forced to file a claim with my credit card company. On top of that, the vacuums are frequently broken, the business hours are poor, the lines are long, and the automatic entry often fails. There is no doubt that this location is extremely convenient for eastbound traffic on Poplar Avenue. All-in-all, this soft-touch, automatic, car wash cleans the surface grime off of the paint. However, the rinse cycle is wholly inadequate, and leaves a significant amount of soap on the surface of the vehicle. This wash is inferior to others, and not really quite worth the price. The attendant took my hitch off without informing me as I was headed into the tunnel. As soon as I entered the tunnel a brush broke the antenna off my truck as well. Went back in to tell them about broken antennae and see my hitch sitting there. I wouldn't have known otherwise. I assume they were just going to keep it. They don't cover damage to antennae either. I went in for a single car wash and they were upselling me on the monthly membership. I explained that I am not in town often enough to get the value weekly car washes. The attendant said he would sign me up for a free trial and cancel it before the membership kicked in. This turned out to be a ploy just to set me up on recurring billing which I've now incurred for December and now January with a charge hitting my account today. I called customer service today to cancel my membership, but they would not reverse the pending charge on my account from today. I do like the convenience of this place since it's in my neighborhood but I don't appreciate the scummy business practices by the attendant. A most expensive vacuum job ever. Went through the Zips Car Wash on Poplar, just west of Mendenhall. Wasn't their best day. Paid my $15. The employee operating the pay machine tried to sell me a monthly package for $30. Glad I didn't agree. So I pull up, make sure all my windows are closed, etc. Had to wait about three minutes for the manager to move out of the way. He and the postman were busy speaking to each other. Apparently, this business was so important that it could not be conducted elsewhere on the property. Finally, he moved and it was my turn. Went through the car wash. Where was the pretty soap, you know, the psychedelic stuff that falls trickles down the windshield? I sure didn't see any. I alerted an employee about the lack of soap. He who told me that sometimes the dispenser doesn't dispense (?). He suggested I go through the wash again -- at no charge. By that time, the line to enter the wash was very long. By this time, I really just wanted my money back. I mean, really, if they don't have any soap, why waste my time. I expressed my desire to the employee with whom spoke to earlier. He said I needed to speak with the manager -- the one who had the important postal business in the middle of the car wash entry. By this time, the hypocrite manager, who was busy screaming at the other employees about making customers wait, seemed to do his level-best to stay in the mist of the water to make certain I would not approach him. After a few minutes of waiting, the car wash line shortened and I went through again. Who knows? Maybe the dispenser was malfunctioning on my first ride. Well, hell. Guess what? Visited June 24th 2023, First time using Zips, I have used numerous other automatic style car washes for my 2021 Ram. I ran my truck through the Poplar location and discovered dents down the passenger side of my truck. The damage pushed my front fender in casing the passenger door to catch the fender when opened and dented two other spots on the bed in front of and behind the wheel well. My truck was pristine prior to going to this place. The staff got me a site assistant manager (I guess the manager couldn't be bothered to come up there) who helped me file a claim and even said there was another truck like mine who experienced similar damage not long before mine occurred. I have dash cam footage of the spinning brush bouncing off the side of my truck but Zips denied my claim and cited no other vehicles had damage like this. I spent 20 dollars on a sub-par wash and now have to pay an additional 500 to have the dents pulled. Wasn't even offered a refund. read more

I have come here with multiple cars and the car wash never gets my car clean. I believe that places should have the ability to redeem themselves over a period of time. So I thought I would try again. I have consistently found that when I leave here there is still soap on the car. Then oddly enough I find the back is still dirty. It's as if the car wash can't figure out what it wants to do. I have frequented other Zip car washes and don't have this issue. So my feedback is to definitely try Zip's, just not this location. They have a good membership plan. You just have to determine if there are locations near you to make it worthwhile and most certainly you want to make sure the car wash actually cleans your car. read more

The employees here are such scammers. As soon as you pull up to pay, someone is there to "assist" you with inserting your card to pay. He tries to upsell you to a membership and when you are not interested he runs your card over & over pretending like there is an issue with their computer. I'll admit that my car hadn't been washed in "a while" and I was courted by the free car wash you receive for downloading their app, but I'm not sure this car wash did anything to actually clean the bugs and grit/grime off of my car. The sides were fine and looked shiny-ish, but the front and back of the car looked like they hadn't been touched or even worse like the dirt and bugs had just been smeared across the car. I also was disappointed that they didn't have a soap/sponge station where you could sponge down your extremely dirty areas (like where bugs have built up) before going into the car wash. How does a car wash that promotes itself as being the best to remove bugs barely get any bugs off of the front grill of a car? I don't get it. In addition, the "free" vacuums aren't quality ones. They barely suction; I felt like I had to keep going over the same spots to get the loose dirt. On top of that, the guy directing entry into the actual car wash didn't say a word to me. Not one word. I pulled up to the start, and he pointed to the sign and walked away. Ridiculously rude. If I could give less than one star I would. The absolute worst car wash I have ever driven thru. My car looked no different than when I drove in except for the fact it was wet. Hardly any of the brushes in the car wash work. For the prices you pay ($10, $15, $20) I expect a fully functioning wash. We went through this wash several weeks ago, and I alerted Zips to the problem of non functioning brushes. They apologized and gave me a code to use the next time. I went through again today, and not only did my code not work (so I had to pay for my wash), but also, this time, even MORE of the brushes did not work. My car still has bird poop and dirt on it. When I pulled up to the entrance an employee took my credit card and asked what type of car wash I'd like. I asked for the $15 car wash. He appeared irritated then asked me again. I reiterated I would like the $15 car wash, not the $20 or $25 wash. I checked my statement today and I was charged $20! This place was a good option 5 years ago but I think that was the last time they have done any maintenance on the equipment. I went through several months ago and the left side rotary brush was inoperable. Thought it was an isolated experience but went back a few days ago and it still did not function. When I pulled out the car was very poorly cleaned and still had soap dripping all over it. in addition, there was an attendant at the wash selection/payment stand who asked me what wash I wanted. Chose the $15.00. He took my card and entered the selection as $15.00 but did not give me a receipt. When I arrived home I found I was charged $20.00. I unfortunately, used the poplar Ave ZIP location for a quick $10 car wash. Upon going through the wash I discovered 90% of the wash did not work. I was not informed by any employees. I spoke with the gentleman he stated corporate only can issue refunds. I have emailed the support email. They do not give a phone number. I have little confidence they will respond. On top of everything, they changed the guy at the pay station changed me and extra $5.00 for an add on I did not authorize. I will be filling this under a fraudulent unauthorized charge. 1. Zips Car wash has scammed thousands of their customers! This company committed fraud against me by illegally obtaining and later using it without my authorization to charge me for a car wash membership on 5-1-24. I researched Zips Car wash and saw that there are thousands of complaints from customers with almost identical issues of Zips illegally obtaining and using credit card information to charge their customers for unauthorized memberships. In Tennessee (Tennessee Code Section 39-14-118: Illegal Possession or Fraudulent Use of a Credit or Debit Card) is a Class A Misdemeanor. How can they still be in business? I have only used them a couple of times, however, I thought it was very concerning that they had one of their employees standing at the payment terminal to take your credit/debit card and process the payment for you. These (employees?) at best, looked questionable. Little did I know at the time that all of this was a massive set-up to a very wide-spread scam. It makes me wonder did this scam begin at the top with the Owner (Brett Overman), the CEO (Gene Dinkens), or the CFO (Katie Murphree.)
