My wife frequents this Zips store only because it's cheap and nearby. She readily admits that the quality of the service is poor, but compared to the cost of doing business with a conventional cleaner, she's willing to lower her acceptability standards for the savings. I needed to have a few shirts laundered and took them there. 2 out of 3 came back with spots/stains on the collar. I can assure you they didn't have them when they were dropped off. The staff there is stupid and less than useless. The owner is even worse and belligerent besides. He guaranteed me that the stains could not possibly have come from them and insisted that I was the one in error. he even intimated that I might possibly be looking to scam him. Yes, I did have the receipt, which averted other issues and eliminated avenues by which he could avoid being forced to resolve the issue in my favor. My solution was that he purchase replacement shirts. I told him honestly that the shirts weren't expensive and that I probably paid no more than $20 apiece. I told him that I would purchase 2 new shirts and that if he would reimburse me $40 against the purchase, I would consider the matter closed. He got even more difficult and said he would do nothing other than offer me a free cleaning for 2 shirts the next time I was in. We went back & forth. He only relented when I told him that I was a paralegal and that I would begin an action against him. At first, he thought he would call my bluff. I reminded him that I can do my own legal work on my lunch hour and that this would be a labor of love for me - I then told him it would cost him $1000 to call his lawyer. He finally saw reason & figured it was cheaper in the long run to do the right thing than to let this escalate. When I showed up with the receipt a few days later, I was told that even though they are a cash business, they couldn't pay me in cash and that I would have to wait 2 weeks or so for a check to be mailed. I finally ended up getting my money, but what a pain. This ass will never see another penny from me. The best thing that could happen to Columbia would be this place going out of business. read more

Ok no offense but this place sucks! I recently moved to Columbia so I wanted a cheap and effective dry cleaner to clean up my clothes. However it seems like those two words, cheap and effective, don't go well together in their case! When I picked up my clothes, they were as though just as I left them! Oh... maybe they were ironed but that's it! You could even smell sweat on some clothes. In brief, I am taking the time to write a review to make sure you guys don't waste $80 like I did. I know... Watch out, you might get all your dry clean item lost in this store and never get any reimbursement!!! I had very bad experience with this store: last November this store lost my six items together and I was promised to get a reimbursement last January. After at least 10 calls, I was repeatedly told that they already sent the claim to the higher management and had to wait for the answer. Nobody never called me back as they promised and they were fooling around customers. Now almost six months passed, I called the store and was told that because it happened several months ago, I will be offered store credit and since I will never come back to zips dry cleaners, I will not take any store credit. read more

Guy was very friendly and nice at drop off! Pick up ladies were great! Customer in front of me treated them like crap!! The lady was rude and constant criticizing them. She was a disgrace to the Hispanic ladies!! The angry guy also was being a jerk! If you don't like the service your getting, go somewhere else!!! My dress turned out fine, clean and gorgeous!! I lost a white comforter there I took it in to be dry cleaned and they never found it. I like the price that they have but the customer service is gone from a rating from 5 to 1 because they only have one person up there at the register with a long line then they have another employee behind one of the bins drinking his cup of coffee and just looking at us. Price might be good but im thinking that I would psy a little more for better customer service. read more

Don't use this place for expensive items or comforters. Had the worst experience with bringing in my comforter. When I went in to pick it up they said they couldn't find it and I had to go back in to deal with the situation with no one following up with me. When they did locate it they said they had to make alterations...still not sure why. No communication between departments. Not satisfied with the cleaning of my comforter either. I dropped off a shirt to get altered on March 10, 2017. Zips lost my uniform shirt and I submitted a claim ticket on March 20, 2017. The store manager told me that they would pay to replace my uniform shirt, so I went to go buy a new one so I could go to work that day. A month later, they found the original uniform shirt. In August, Lathy Amer, the store owner finally informed me that he would not be replacing the shirt. He was rude, inappropriate, and offensive. read more

June 2017 - I had dropped off a Corporate tablecloth. Was given a longer timeframe for processing due to garment, was ok with the timeframe until I went to pick it up...pick up attempt #1: was told I had the wrong date and to come back a week later (for a total of 11 day processing time). pick up attempt #2 (the new date) - was given the wrong item, when noticed still on location was then informed my piece was still in the soiled basket and to come back later in the day to pick up. pick up attempt #3 was successful. July 2017 - Gave them a second trying - same item, this time with a 7 day processing time. pick up attempt #1 on date promised - could not located (AGAIN!) the garment, would look and give me a call me... pick up attempt #2, 1 week later - no call, still no garment, spoke with "manager" took my information and would call me pick up attempt #3, 2 weeks later, still no call, still no garment, left my information again for a different "manager" August 2017, 30 days later, pick up attempt #4 - filed a claim for lost garment September 2017, 30 days after filing claim, couldn't located my claim, filed another claim October 2017, 30 days after filing 2nd claim, business had not contacted me in regards to any of the concerns or claims. SPoke to another "manager" was told she remembers seeing my garment and believes another corporation may have picked it up by mistake, was to contact that corporation and call me back by end of week.... silence late October 2017 - was told my claim was processed and check was mailed "yesterday" Gave me the name and phone number of the person processing the claim... November 2017 - no check... contacted claims processor, silence... a few days later I tried to reach via text message, acknowledgment but told my claim was denied... Reached out again asking for supporting evidence of why, silence... let the person know (LATH) further action would be taken, received a response text message "no more texts...We are done" February 2018 - matter STILL not resolved. This is not a $35 tablecloth, this was a corporate piece valued at $350 read more

THIS STORE DOES NOT CLEAN YOUR CLOTHES...AVOID if possible. While there have been several disappointments with the service such as irregular crease, smashed up buttons(which the staff said was due to the starch used..), I have never felt compelled to write a review until now. On 8/29 I took a pair of khakis that had a mud stain to ZIPs. The representative recommended that dry clean would be sufficient enough to remove the stain...however after I picked it up and brought it home, I noticed that stain was still there. I took it back and ZIPs did a re-do for me, however stain was still there when I tried to pick up a second time. At this time, the manager recommended that the best way to remove this was actually to put it through their laundry service, so reluctantly, I agreed. On 9/5, my third attempt to pick up the pants..stain was still there. Store manager assured me they used the best chemicals to remove the stain...and that they couldn't do anything else to remove the stain.....so I brought it home..put it in the washing machine with Tide detergent...and lo and behold, stain was REMOVED!! Moral of the story, I am going to echo a prior reviewer and agree that they don't clean your clothes....just baffling that all the supposed chemicals they used on the clothes couldn't clean it, but tide could..what a shame read more

If you want your clothes done with care, stay away from this place!! I bought in a three piece white suit that I had only worn once and left specific directions no safety pins in the skirt and low and behold when I pick it up there are pins in the skirt and it has black stains as if they dragged it across the floor. The skirt was filthy and completely stretched out!! Needless to say I was very upset. The Manager C.Campos said she would clean it again and it would go back to its original shape (smh)..... This location is the worst zips cleaners. The line is usually out of the door. They constantly lose and damage clothes. And there is constantly something broken. Right now the credit card machine is broken but before it's been the store power and their laundry equipment. The owner is non responsive and so is corporate so don't try to send a fake message below this apologizing and asking for my contact info. This place needs to be shut down. read more

Worst cleaners ever!!! Dropped off a military uniform and specified they needed military creases. Got back with no creases but a tag on the shirt saying military creases. Thought it may be a one time thing so tried them again later. Same story but checked before leaving. Was told to come back tomorrow and did and again still no creases. Finally got back the 3rd time with ironed on wrinkles, double creases, and just plan horrible. I can't wear that. Cheap prices don't mean anything if I eventually have to take it somewhere else to get the job done. Didn't even offer to not charge me. Poor service and customer service. After bustin' the Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha Slide and the Wobble at my friends wedding in which I was a bridesmaid, I foolishly decided to take my gorgeously expensive albeit sweaty dress to Zips. I also took a bunch of blazers, coats and other items. I was excited to get all those things dry cleaned for less than 20 bucks. When I picked up my clothes, I noticed that my one shoulder Monique Lhuillier was SAFETY PINNED to the hanger. Like seriously you put holes in my dress?? Then I go to hang my other things. They look great. Pressed nicely, creases in the right place, but they smelled TERRIBLE. Like I know I can get musty but did they put my clothes in a sweat bucket? It was then that I realized Zips doesn't really clean your clothes. This is why they can afford to charge 2 bucks per item. Good (and cheap) for basic jobs. Go somewhere else for detailed garments (I've gotten back damaged buttons and hooks) and stain removal -- they never get it out. I had Zips try and fail to remove the same stain twice, which was then removed by a different dry cleaner in one go. read more

I've been going since the day they opened, things were great up until that last 6 weeks. Ive noticed that my work pants were coming back with just one crease in the right leg; all of htem. The left leg was never pressed. I repeadtly brought it to their attention. How stupid that I should have to re-iron my pants when they come from the cleaners. Now that I know there is another ZIPS near by, I will go to them; eventhough the one in Columbia ia EXTREMELY handy for me I will go out of my way to avoid taking anymore of my things to the Columbia one. I had a horrible experience at the Columbia ZIPS. They lost 5 items in January 2013and after several trips to their place, they were finally able to find just one item. They have been unhelpful and unresponsive so far. read more

Ruined a high quality king comforter. I can only think they did not wash it on gentle as directed on label and stitching ripped out and batting is now in one big lump. Fortunately saw it when I when to pick it up and clerk said they would send to get it restitched. Waited almost 3 weeks to date of pick-up only to find it was wadded up in a corner shelf when I went to get it and I was told it was not worth it for them to repair it. Shams had to be cleaned again as they looked like they were never cleaned. Funny... I have washed the comforter before myself at commercial laundry and it was just fine. read more

This week was my first encounter with ZIPS. the people were more that friendly and accommodating. When I dropped off the suit 2 days ago, I pointed out a stain (tooth paste) that I inadvertent got on my jacket lapel. They marked the stain and took the suit. Today I went to pick up the suit. The stain was still there, and they agreed to redo the cleaning. However, the pants now have a small hole in the back on the right leg. I do not know how th hole got there, but they claimed that it could not have happened there. Then the lady said that the hole appeared to be the work of a bug that I must have in my closet. This being said, I was stunned. I have been wearing pants, off and on, for 52 years. Never have I had (until now) a bug eating through my suit pants. My first time experience will also be my last. I am disappointing, but it isn't the end of the world. I know they mean well, and companies are as good the quality of their employees. Although the customer service is good, the quality of their work, in this case, is at best unsatisfactory. read more

The service is half worth the price they charge. They broke so many buttons, I lost count and free relacement button is a joke. Zips model should be "Our prices are low so you don't lose your shirt... But we will!" I made the mistake of going back here and sure enough they lost a shirt. I always - and I mean almost every time I went in would hear a customer talking to management about a list item, and always was thankful it wasn't me... But my luck ran out and last December it was! I had a shirt that lost a button during the dryclean process- a common problem, but no biggie- so I asked them to re-attach and re-press it: a complimentary service Zips offers. Problem is, when I came back to pick it up, the attendant couldn't find the shirt! They asked if they could have the rest of the day to find it and to check and I thought that was reasonable, but when I came back, no one knew what I was talking about. I explained the situation, and the attendant said "yeah, day shift doesn't ever follow through on lost claims!" The evening manager, Masani asked me to fill out a claim sheet, and while they would still look for it, they would pay me within a week if It couldn't be located. Well a week went by and I went back in, but they had no record of my claim. I explained the situation and the manager called Masani And she said they were still looking for the shirt, and to come back. I thought I'd rather the shirt so I gave it another week. Finally I went back and they hadn't found it, so I requested the reimbursement. Well- that's when the runaround began! Long story short, every time I came to collect the reimbursement check, the "authorized" manager wasn't on site, and I was told to come back. I requested twice it be left for me to pick up, but it never happened. Finally today- after 2 1/2 months I got paid out- way too long to be considered good customer service! Bye Zips!!! read more

Very disappointed, I think a one star is too much but not able to do no stars. Items returned to me looking shabby and with what looked like dog hair (I don't own any animals). A comforter was returned with the stuffing in a ball in the middle - not sure how they managed that and no mention or warning to me that that was the case. Terrible now! When they first opened it was pretty good. A few broken buttons. Just picked up 11 shirts, 3 dresses and a skirt. They are more wrinkled than when I took them in! They do not look like they were cleaned at all! Only option is to bring them back in for a redo with the tags still attached - they will not refund. read more

I will never use this establishment again! I was very happy to find a discount cleaner, but I regret ever using them. They lost my brand new suit and had me fill out a claim form after two weeks of my follow up. I finally received a check in the mail for an arbitrary amount that was far less than half the cost. The owner was supposed to communicate with me but he never did. It appears he just picked a random number. To add insult to injury, I prepaid for this service that I never received. It's beyond poor service, you are paying for no service here. It feels as if I just gave them a suit they can sell to help recoup their dry cleaning costs. If there was any level of kind communication, it would not feel like such a slap in the face. Lesson learned. I will take my business elsewhere, but will pursue other actions to be indemnified for my loss. read more

I have given this place the benefit of the doubt for several years and have dealt with broken buttons and clothes not pressed correctly, etc., given they are a budget cleaner. However, they now are on a streak of losing my clothes and not calling me back to have them replaced or remedy the situation. The first occurrence was 4 months ago and I let it go given the cost of their service. This time, they have lost a very expensive, tailored shirt and could care less. The "manager" at the Columbia location asked me to leave her store when pressing for answers; the owner has not returned my calls. They are awful. Pay a higher price and move on. Cheap in cost and cheap service! This is the WORST dry cleaners! When you walk in there is an awful smell which smells just like dog feces. I have not only 1 bad experience I've have several! I have given this dry cleaner several chances to redeem themselves and they fail each and every time. The first time the lost my fiancés pin off of his LRG jacket, the second time they sent me home with the wrong men's work shirts and when I went back to pick up my fiancés they weren't ready even though I received an email that the shirts where ready. Then when I got the shirts they sewed on a button which was nothing like the other buttons and it was also falling off! The 3rd and last time they messed up was last night when I went up there to pick-up my fiancés dry cleaning and shirts they weren't ready and weren't even clean yet. They blamed it on the worker on Saturday should've told me that they were replacing the water heater and the water heater has to run for 24 hours and since they are closed on Sunday it couldn't run for 24 hours so they had to wait until Monday to run it. Which makes no sense to me because if you knew that you had all these customers whom expected their clothes to be ready on Monday after 5:00pm then they should've came in on Sunday and ran the water heater and had everyone's clothes ready by Monday after 5:00pm as promised. This place has no regards to time or customer service and doesn't offer you anything back other than a sorry. Well, I will NEVER AGAIN take a single article of my clothing to this place of business! My husband dropped off a dress which had a small stain at the hemline on the front of the dress. When he went to pick it up, not only was that stain still there, but there were other stains all over the back of the dress. When he pointed out the stains, the manager said they must have been there when we dropped the dress off ... THEY WERE NOT, but even if they had been, why were they still there?!!! They certainly didn't include a note indicating that they couldn't get them off! In fact, they handed the dress to my husband as if everything was fine. He decided to check the dress when he got to the car and discovered the stains, so he went back in to show them to the manager. My husband explained that I needed the dress for a trip we were taking, leaving tomorrow morning. The manager proceeded to tell my husband that they couldn't do anything about it today because they were preparing to shut down their machines!! Seriously?!!! What ever happened to good, old fashioned customer service?!! This is not the only issue we have had with Zips. My husband has had his shirts laundered at Zips for quite some time now. He has had to return more shirts than I can count because the pressing job looked like it had been done by a young child. Our daughter had two beautiful wool sweaters ruined by Zips. For the price ZIPS is charging you would know they are delivering the same. I have had clothes cleaned with no missing garments, their problem is cleaning whites. If any white garment has a stain, just know it will come back that same way. I have hard like 3 white or off white shirts cleaned with makeup stains and a few grease spots from my hair spray, I had to come home and hand wash them. This time around I dropped off a $100 white blazer, it had a few wine stains that were treated with club soda right when it happened. I pointed every stain and my blazer was lined with yellow tape like a crime scene (that wasn't the problem), i even pointed out to the cashier that the label said dry clean only because he asked. I returned a few days to pick is up, not only did the blazer still have all the stains, but it was washed. What was previous WHITE was now cream. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! I point this out to the cashier and she said they can redo it. Well ZIPS i'm coming back monday, be ready to pay or give me my blazer cleaned, or at least the color I turned it in. That was ridiculous. If you can't do the job right let me know and i'll go pay $5-$8 somewhere else. Something tells me that is the first and only time i'm going to wear that blazer. read more
