For the past 9 months I have had to send my orders back and have my shirts creased. This means driving round trip quite a bit. I have complained to the Manager and still the same results. Today (October 18,2025) is the last time I will bring my shirts back to ZIPS in Hanover, MD or any other ZIPS. read more

A month ago Zips completely ruined one of my shirts. At first they wouldn't accept responsibility. it took significant follow-up for them to finally agree. They still haven't made me whole or even given me a credit against future cleaning. They systematically deflect to "corporate". The store employees feel bad and say corporate does this all the time. Two years ago I put up a post about how they didn't properly fix a zipper on my skirt. Two years later, I'm complaining because I had a jacket that needed to be stitched/ sewed and the job was poorly done. The "Manager" wanted to prove to me that she called me 30 days ago to inform me of multiple stitches and I agreed to have one of them sewed. Conveniently there are no notes. All I asked for was a simple refund however because it has been 30 days, the refund couldn't be granted. I have been a customer for several years and as of recently I've been traveling back and forth to Utah for work. Therefore, I recently saw that this wasn't properly done... THIS LOCATION EMPLOYS A THIEF!!! I have waited a bit to post this review as I did not want to accuse someone of stealing and my money popped up later. To be honest, there was no need to wait as I knew where I left my money from the start. To be clear, I've spent hundreds of dollars at this location. It was my favorite dry cleaners because of the convivence it provided. But not anymore. A little over a month ago, I dropped off about $65 worth of clothes to this location. As soon as I left, I realized that I had added a pair of jeans from the night before that had about the same amount of money in the back pocket. I immediately called back and told the male employee the situation. First, his response was well if items are found it will be in a baggy attached. Then I asked if he could check for me as it was in the bag that I just dropped off. He insisted that he couldn't identify the bag although it had only been probably about six minutes that had passed since I left...and to be honest the place was empty when I got there. I then decided to turn around and go back and see for myself. I was already on 295S when I call the location back so I had to get off on Rte 32 and loop back up. I arrived back within 15 minutes or so to realize that he knew very well which bag it was in because he was half way through my bag when I got there, tagging my clothing. I asked him to dig through and he conveniently picked every pair of pants but the right ones. That's when I realized he was full of excuses from the start and my money had already been stolen. Yes, I fully acknowledge that this incident was my fault from the start, however I was hoping that it would have ended in an honest manner. I am pretty sure he did not expect me to come back to check. When I went to pick up my items, he was also working. The transaction was pretty normal for him as he is by far the most welcoming person which I noticed well before he stole my money. I did ignore it though because, again, I loved the convenience of that location. As I was leaving, I asked him his name and you could see him remembering exactly who I was as he gave it to me and all of a sudden it was "have a great day." From someone who you would barely get a mumble out of prior. For this reason, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this dry cleaners. I have resulted to going back to Zips Crofton where I've seen the manager hand money back to someone with my own eyes. They may not have a 24-hour drop box or email notification when my items are ready to be picked up, but at least I know he is honest. And of course....no money attached to a baggy as promised. I know as a fact where I left it. To make matters worse, the pair of pants that they were in came back to me with some substance on it from when it was cleaned. MILITARY BEWARE. ZIPS destroyed 2 pairs of service khakis. I took a chance on this place and will never use them again. After carefully telling them instructions and what not to do, they ended up doing everything i told them not to do... They used excessive heat and pressure on the polyester blend uniforms. They melted the polyester in the uniform causing a permanent shine and glaze, showing the structure of the seams and stitching beneath. Many of you in the service know exactly what this is. The damage makes the uniform unacceptable for wear and cannot be worn in service. After making a complaint requesting compensation, ZIPS and the branch owner refused to compensate the $275.50 to replace my 2 uniforms, the amount spent for dry cleaning and proceeded to send a letter to me stating they were not liable. If anyone else has had issues such as this, please let me know as enough of us can form a class action against this business who has apparently had multiple issues with military uniforms and dodging liability. Attached to this review are 2 photos showing the permanent damage to the uniforms. Shine and glaze are difficult to photograph, but these properly show the damage. ZIPS sent the items to the International Textile Analysis Laboratory (ITAL), a laboratory that you can pay to have an analysis of the item. The analysis states there's no change to the texture or appearance of the uniform. Subsequently, ZIPS sent a letter stating they are not liable as there is no damage. With the evidence proving ZIPS and ITAL wrong, i'll leave it up to the consumers to make a judgement. If you value your property that needs dry cleaning, do not use ZIPS Dry Cleaners. Especially if you're military. Many service members from across the DMV area have had issues with ZIPS in general. So much so, I learned that the NEX recommends we AVOID ZIPS. Please use an on-post and/or contracted dry cleaners for your uniforms and valuables. read more

Brought in my husband's dress whites and was told they would be ready later that day. We went back and even though the associate in the morning had assured that they knew how to press them, they were done incorrectly. My husband then gave step by step instructions, showing what to do. We came back the next day and they're still not passable. Guess we are pressing them at home. It seems like a great prices for normal clothes, but we are next to a military base, so maybe educate your staff on proper pressing? Bad service and non-responsive! Requested call from Hanover manger after five consecutive redues/ trips for the same issue and failures to correctly service my four shirts. Requested a call from manager with no response. Their phone system is useless as it does not allow contact to staff and the store hours are incorrectly posted on phone recording (and pickup tickets/receipts). This was painfully realized after driving to the store to find it closed. Suggested several times that the posting be fixed to avoid it happening to other customers; however still no change. read more

Just got out the hospital, went there for much need cleaning of clothing, and uniforms, the young male person at the register, with cold piercing blue eyes didn't greet was rude when I told him hello looked at me up-and-down in a very cold manner and said in a nasty Condescending tone, I said hello, and phone number. Overall a decent establishment. Its very convenient and affordably priced. Ive been going for a couple of months now usually getting service weekly. My clothes come back clean and pressed and I haven't had any broken buttons which has been an issue at other competitors. Asked to pay attention to my collars and them come back with the stain still in it. Asked for pants to be pressed and they pressed the wrinkles. I am highly annoyed. I've been utilizing this location for over a year. I always pay with my debit or credit card. Today I come in to drop off clothes and I'm told that I cannot utilize my card. My total was 8.95 and I was told that there is a $10 min, despite me showing my previous card purchase history showing that this has never been the case. Absolutely ridiculous! I shouldn't have to go to an atm in order to pay for my dry cleaning. I asked to speak to the manager who told me that has always been their policy. Such bull crap. I give business a 2nd chance. Around 4-6 months ago I was using this location. Each time in excess I've requested no creases in the pants. Each time I've received my pants, creases were not on the outer, but clearly and sloppy on the outer. Today, May 3rd, 2019 I picked up items after not using this location for quite some time and what do you think happened? The same damn thing occurred on my pants. What made this time worse was that the young lady at the counter said "this is how we do it." Clearly this young lady was much younger than I, so perhaps she didn't realize that old school people understand properly presses clothing. However, I can't be angry with her lack of knowledge; but I can blame management. After 4-6 months, one would think that management would have trained people how to effectively read tickets that state "no creases." Its apparent that management is concerned about volume of service and not quality. I strongly urge that you not bring creaseless pants to this location because mysteriously creases will appear on your pants. So I made a huge mistake and took a set of drapes to be dry cleaned at Zips. When I picked them up one panel had shrunk 3 inches and the other panel had shrunk 6 inches. They were completely ruined. I had an identical set at home to compare because I wanted to clean one set at a time --thank goodness for that. I brought the drapes back and told the manager I needed compensation for a new set. He said that Zips could not be sure that I hadn't shrunk the panels so they would need to send them away for analysis to the Dry Cleaning Institute of America in Laurel. What a joke. I did some research and found out that the institute is basically a company set up and owned by dry cleaners to cover their asses and absolve them of responsibility. And that's exactly what happened. They said sorry, Crate and Barrel was at fault for not pre-shrinking the drapes. Oh really? I had taken the drapes a year before to a different, albeit way more expensive, dry cleaner and they came back in perfect condition. So they basically wrecked a $200 set of drapes and left me with no recourse. Yes I could probably sue, but that's always comes down to numbers and is usually a losing proposition. So here's my expensive lesson that want to share with you: stay away from Zips for anything more important or expensive than an old blouse. Yes they are convenient and cheap, but you get what you pay for. And this institute they use for cover is simply a scam. read more
