not good so far.. picking up my wife's mother of the grooms dress for a next Sunday wedding and dress was covers in stains from cleaning process. I got a we made a woopsey but we will put in for a soak and a reclean. give us until next Friday to try to get it clean.... doesn't give much time to get a new dress if not corrected.. read more

I had a shooting vest that I wanted to make alterations for (just get some patches stitched into it) I met with the Tailor and told him specifically where I wanted each patch (3 total) 2 of them were in the right spot but the 3rd one was supposed to be a centered on the back of my vest, I came home with my order and realized it is off center (a few inches to the right). I'm a bit weary to bring it back in to him but I'm hoping that this location makes things right. Overall the other two patches were exactly where I wanted them place I'm just a bit bummed the 3rd one is not centered as I requested :/ I spoke with someone on the phone they told me to bring it back in but I am apprehensive to bring it back to this location. Which sucks because this one is closest and the most convenient to travel to. Not to mention the tailor at this location is only in twice a week. I just decided to go to the Annapolis location, even though it's a pain to drive over the bridge the Annapolis location's tailor is more readily available and I don't think I should have Zips Chester charge me again to alter a patch them screwed up the first time. read more

Ok, I needed my white suit cleaned for a birthday party tomorrow! Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I was not sure but thought Zips might be able to get'er done! they say in by 9 our by 5! So, I've just dropped off my suit. When I initially called the young man on the phone said it would probably be ready by 2:00 pm on Saturday. Which is kinda what he said when I walked in but upped it an hour to 3! I'm pushing it close the party begins at 5 and I have to make it to DC! Here's hoping that ZIPS comes through in a pinch! Sure mistakes can and do happen in life, and I have had a couple such instances here, but that is 2 garments out of probably 2000 they have done for me since they opened. If only my other products and service providers failed only two tenths of 1% of the time. By the way, they have always made it right with credits or whatever was appropriate. Super nasty manger. Can't tell the truth. Does a terrible job then blames workers then refuses to make any improvements. Shirts do not have the bottom of sleeve ironed. Pants are ironed so they stick out sideways. Collars are pressed below the neck seam. Pictures of the crappy work to be had for the asking. read more

They laundered and starched two 100% silk shirts that were sent for dry cleaning. They also pressed and starched them with hundreds of wrinkles. They refused to correct the problem or reimburse for the damaged shirts. Shop finally refunded my money and agreed to replace my shirts. I appreciate the owner getting involved. read more

I bought in a fleece sweat suit to have it dry cleaned. I wanted to prevent it from fading and shrinking. I picked it up, there were dark stains on the pants legs. I brought them back to have the stains removed (twice) that they put on my pants. When I picked them up the after the second "rework" they were faded and looked awful. I was given a number to call, which was the co owner. He redirected me back to the manager. Once I went back to the store a woman at the counter greeted me rudely by saying, "What's wrong with the pants now!" After speaking to the manager, she admitted that she her self had washed the pants twice...they were supposed to be dry cleaned. She told me that I had to bring in a receipt to file a claim. I did that and a week later still no claim form. These people are playing with me. The pants were $125 and I want my money for the damage they caused. Not to mention they kept my pants. read more

Service has been going downhill ,have been doing business here for years.They just don't seem to get put military creases on my shirts.Several times I've received them back with no creases.It's in the computer,it's marked on the tags. Today was a bad experience.Sign says close at 6pm.I was at the door 8 minutes of 6.a bf a man closed and locked the door with me standing there.At least 5 other customers came to pickup their items way before the posted closing time.The person left the open sign on and went to the back of the store.A few of us knocked on the door.This is not how you do business. read more

I was taking my comforter there every few months to be dry cleaned, then the most recent time it was dropped off they put about 30 safety pins in it and left them in when they returned it, causing holes all over it. I have been getting the run around since the incident, they currently still have my comforter but don't want to replace it, and have not been returning my phone calls. $200 comforter down the drain... Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Rebecca, it will not allow me to reply for some reason. But the owner is well aware of the situation and has been for over a month. Shes supposedly always "out of town". But the manager has emailed, called and texted the owner to remind them to contact me and I have yet to hear back. Not infrequently I will also have blouses and men's shirts returned with buttons either broken or missing altogether. On top of this they will not take responsibility for having it repaired but instead refer you to their, on site, independent contractor.tailor who I then have to pay to get it repaired. I will pay a responsible dry cleaner to handle my cleaning from now on and although the cost of cleaning will be higher there won't be any addition cost for repair or destruction and I think the net result will be cheaper than using Zips and certainly less aggravating. I took my clothes to zips on Kent Island this morning and the young gentleman working there was very rude, unprofessional and placed my change on the counter. If you are going to be rude, at least be able to return to me the correct change. Also, my wife retrieved her items and it smelled like smoke. They do not clean your clothes. Instead of paying the money to zips, you are better off cleaning your clothes using Dryell. I will never take my clothes to zip ever again. read more

I've used ZIPS locations for years and have never had an issue. I picked up a few pieces today that I also had dry cleaned a few weeks ago at this location (and they did a great job!) No issues last time, but I just took the dresses out of the bag, and they smell horrible, had hair, and black fuzz all over them. One dress had the straps safety pinned to the hanger, and now my straps (two inches in width) have noticeable holes in them and are visible when wearing. Does anyone else think it's a bad idea for the Zips mascot to be a bug? Even though it's clearly a bee, it just makes me think of bed bugs. Yuck. Proceed with caution here. $1.99 for most items is a pretty good deal, but don't expect your items to be ready when they say they will. They accept cash only and you have to prepay. When I went to drop off my items the customer in front of me was on the verge of losing her temper with the staff because they hadn't been able to find her coat for over 2 weeks. I got a bad feeling but hoped for the best. What a mistake. My black blazer came back with white streaks/cracks in all the buttons and my cashmere sweater actually smelled worse than when I dropped it off. Also, for alterations or repairs they do not have a seamstress on site. I had a minor repair for a dress and wanted to know how much it would cost to fix. The staff wasn't sure but guessed it would only be a few dollars, and offered to have me prepay $10 just to be on the safe side and told me she would refund whatever amount I overpaid at pickup. Not only was the dress NOT READY on the day they said it would be (in fact, it wasn't even in their store because they had to send it to the off site seamstress) but it ended up being the full $10. I thought that was a bit steep considering what a minor repair it was, but then again, I should have never paid the $10 up front if I wasn't prepared to spend that much. The dress is repaired and wearable but I'm not happy with what she did to repair it. She completely took the original boning and replaced it with a cheesy plastic, bendable boning. I should have taken this dress to be fixed at a place where I could actually discuss the repairs with the seamstress. At least the dress only cost $1.99 to dry clean so I don't feel completely ripped off. read more

Pro - Cheap and quick (1-day if in by 9:00) Con - Cash only (ATM on site) Con - This is the big one....I have to re-iron almost every shirt, and sometimes pants. Looks ok when you pick up, but sleeves, collars, and shoulders usually have wrinkles. Pants are often missed or double creased. Everything is wearable, but far from what you would/should expect. If you have a big meeting or interview, you're defiantly re-ironing. Good in a rush, but go elsewhere if you have time. read more

Their price to clean a comforter can't be beat. However, you get what you pay for. Comforter was stuffed into a plastic bag when my husband picked it up. Too wrinkled to put on bed. Now I am working on getting the wrinkles out. Would suggest you ask for it on a hanger - perhaps that will avoid some of the wrinkles. read more

I really like this location and am surprised by the bad reviews which is why I'm posting this one. They are always quick and friendly and they do now take credit cards. Back to only one star. Had pants hemmed. After they were lost, then found and worn, they were washed ONCE. Noticed the hems weren't staying. Looked and thread used looked like a spider web and basically fell apart on both legs. Horrible hem job with the cheapest thread made!! If I could give it zero, I would. I'm in law enforcement, every week for three weeks, "heavy starch and press the sleeves please." One time, I had to leave them there on a Sat because they were closed Sunday and drive back Monday to get all but 1. The other 2 times I just pressed them at home. I brought in an imported pea coat that I bought in England years ago. It's been professionally dry cleaned many times, and always comes out great. Until I brought it to Zips in Chester! It came back covered in white lint, with pilling on the edges. And it shrank! How is that possible if it was truly dry cleaned!? But the distorted liner is proof. They do O.K. with my husbands "launder with light starch" shirts, but even then they break the collar buttons routinely. Big thumbs down if you have something of value to be dry cleaned. Sorry. In the last several months, what I once considered service that was pretty good for the price has gone noticeably down-hill. Collar buttons are frequently torn off with enough force to rip the shirt itself (how does this even happen?), shirt collars need to be re-pressed at home, and sometimes, it looks like my pants haven't been pressed at all. As I write this, I'm looking at a large (about the size of playing card) crusty patch of dried starch that I can only presume was spilled onto my shirt and left there. read more

I think 1 star is giving them too much credit. I have had nothing but problems here!!! I went to Zips all the time in Pasadena and had a wonderful experience so I was thrilled when we moved over here and there was one so close. First, the fact that they only accept cash is insane! All the other Zips accept credit so I was shocked when I went in to see that. Second, I paid for my item then received a phone call a couple days later saying the woman at the desk made a mistake and I need to pay more when I pick up. Being that it was THEIR mistake I think it's poor costumer service to call asking to bring more money in! Then finally, I go in and my garments aren't even READY!!! Not worth your 1.99! If you're unlike me and don't pay good money for your clothes then you're in luck at the Kent Island's zips. I brought my Juicy Couture Sweatsuite to this Zips. Well unlike the above customer my items were ready on time BUT the Juicy logo was completely removed. One partner said they would replace my item just come in. Once I arrived the other partner (the older looking one) put up a big argument saying I should have the designer replace my item. My grandmother complains time and time again about her clothes are never cleaned correctly. She only brings her "everyday" clothes to Zips. While she brings her "nicer" clothes to the cleaners in the old Kent town plaza. If you are every in the Annapolis area please try the Zips on West St. They have a wonderful staff, excellent service and you can bet you last 1.99 that your clothes will look almost new. Just be prepared to stand in line for a while because they stay busy. read more
