I have been using Busy Bees for a few years now with mixed results. I travel for business and therefore frequently have dress shirts, sport coats, slacks and suits laundered and dry cleaned. I noticed that their prices continually increased, much like my cable bill, over time. I would also occasionally find that buttons had been eradicated, but only after being at a destination and needing the clean shirt. How is it possible that a button be completely destroyed without seeing all the remnants remaining on the steam board??? The last straw occurred when we realized that Busy Bees had charged dry cleaning instead of laundering my dress shirts. The price difference was significant. The issue was brought up at the pickup and included the manager. The manager and owner of the franchise stated that Busy Bees has been checking the receivables during the service processing and upgrading the clients from laundering to dry cleaning at no additional charge for some time and we should be grateful that they we were only charged this time. The lie was so obvious that it was insulting. We are now using another dry cleaner that is closer, more reputable, and is almost one-third less expensive. So, thank you Busy Bees for breaking us of the expensive habit of using your service out of habit. read more

We've been customers of Busy Bee in Edgewater, Maryland since they opened that location. For many years they did a fantastic job laundering and pressing my dress shirts. However, in the last few years, they've changed something about their process, which made some of my shirts come back with crinkly collars or folded over and pressed button holes. This means that every time I pick up my laundry, I have to ask them to redo some of my shirts which means I have to come back at a later time. I've decided that this is a greater pain in the butt than paying a little bit more and going to another cleaners. I will always pay a little bit more for quality work, and Busy Bee doesn't provide that. I also want to echo a previous reviewer's comment about getting up-charged for dry cleaning. They told me shirts with spandex and nylon in them needed to be dry cleaned, but the fabric label proved otherwise. It seems that Busy Bee is charging more and more to do less and less. By employee incompetence (mistagging clothes when we dropped them off), they LOST our $500 suit. We needed it for a wedding and as a result needed to purchase a new suit for the wedding. Days later, someone returned the suit to the cleaners - so it had apparently been sent home with another customer? They refused to compensate us at all for the new suit despite it being entirely their fault. Really poor customer service and no accountability. Will never come back here and will be sure to make sure no one ever goes here. read more

This dry cleaner has definitely changed since their earlier iterations. They used to market themselves as a low-cost dry cleaner and that is no longer even close to the truth. They advertised themselves as "The Lowest Cost "Full Price Dry Cleaners in Town!" but that is nowhere near the truth. I was charged almost $7.00 per dress shirt. I dropped off four items of clothing on Friday. She counted them. Four. I went to pick them up on the following Thursday and was told three items were ready but one was special care. A sweater? I went back the next day and was told there was a mistake made. There were three items not four. And they crossed out the number four and put three in its place. I was told I had a credit because I told him I had paid for four items. At the time I brought in THE CLEANING. When I got home, the one item I know I took to the cleaners, a very fashionable sweater worth almost $100, was the item that was missing. I am never going back to this company. They lie. I think they ruined my sweater with chemicals, or someone wore it on the weekend and ruined it. And they lied. What kind of a business is this? Dropped an item off to have it repaired by the seamstress. 3 wks later and many calls to ask of the status, they couldn't find the item and didn't know the status. Finally stopped by to ask in person and he got very annoyed with me and explained that the man I left it with went out of the country and wouldn't be back for another 2 weeks. In her abrupt tone, she informed me that, in the two weeks since I drop my previous flannel shirts, Busy Bees no longer launders flannel shirts at a $2+ rate, but, instead, a $5+ rate for dry cleaning. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHES HERE! I was so impressed with how friendly the staff was, the price was amazing, and the turn around time was awesome. I thought I was so happy that I inquired how much they charged for comforters to get mine cleaned.... And then I got home and took my husbands expensive suit he wore to our wedding out of the plastic ---his WEDDING suit with sentimental value ---- it is practically ruined. It's covered in animal fur and some sort of acrylic fibers, smells horrid, and has creases all over it - like behind the knee creases that weren't smoothed out AND creases where there should not be on the back of the suit jacket. This is an expensive suits we splurged on for our wedding and I am really upset. The white shirt we took to be laundered and pressed has two spots on it that weren't there before. The two dresses I took to have cleaned seem like they escaped the massacre. I posted pictures I quickly took for reference. Still have the cleaner tags on them and you can see the creases and animal fur all over them. Just don't take anything here that you don't want potentially ruined. You've been warned. read more

Wife and I brought our floor to ceiling draperies in for cleaning. I have been to Busy Bees before and signed their agreement without really looking at it. The girls at the counter took the draperies and my money. It was about $120.00. About a week later they were done and looked great. Got them home and hung them up and...oh my God! They were shredded. Called Busy Bee and the girl said that they were not responsible for the damage. I asked to speak to the manager, he would not speak to me on the phone. Girl said bring them in. I live 20 miles away. OK, I'll do it. Manager says, you signed the agreement and we are not responsible for the damage. I said, but you are into me for about $500.00. He said that he would give me a half in-store credit for what I paid, in other words $60.00. I said I couldn't believe that I was not warned ahead of time about that. He said that I signed the agreement. So, a word to the wise, don't deal with these people! I think they purposely tried to hide the fact that they absolutely ruined our perfectly good draperies. DO NOT USE BUSY BEE CLEANERS UNLESS YOU CAN SEW they do not care or take minimal care of your clothing. I sent in a chiffon dress with Silver embellishment on the ruching at the waist with another dress with matching jacket. I picked them up and thought is was a little strange the chiffon dress was between the pieces of the other dress, but did not really think a lot about it. Guess what the chiffon dress is missing the silver embellishment. I looked for it to be attached to the hanger (sometimes it happens) but nothing was attached. I call Busy Bee Cleaners and the young lady who answered was not interested and after describing the missing embellishment as 2" long about 1.5" wide silver with rhinestones for the 3rd time she asks "was it a butterfly", and explains she does not normally work all the time and there was no manager available. So big old brush off. If you want you clothing to be returned in the same condition do not depend on Busy Bee Cleaners in Edgewater Maryland. Granted I can get another embellishment and can sew it on myself, but when you pay for cleaning service I expect to get back the dress in same condition but cleaned not missing embellishments or damaged. While I recognize that there are several unfavorable reviews listed on Yelp - I did want to take a few moments to acknowledge this business and their efforts. While they did increase their rates - they still fall in line competitively with other dry cleaners in the area (Zips included). The employees (and management) take time to know their customers, especially those that are repeat customers. They have a small town feel - in a bigger city. I am a weekly customer and the items that I drop off are always well taken care of. My husband has very specific requests with his military uniforms and they've identified how to properly tag them, and take care of them - each time they are returned to us in specified manner. If for some reason they are not, they will quickly correct the issue (provided the staff is present to do so), and return the item to us. Highly recommend! read more

When I picked up my order the garment was a different color and was full of wrinkles and dust was all over the pants legs where they dragged it on the floor. Horrid! Use at your own risk! I instructed them to dry clean, not wash, expensive coverlet. They wrote the instruction on their drop-off tag and on my receipt. When I retrieved it, I found that the coverlet was puckered and shrunk such that it was now far too small for my bed. Matching custom-made shams were rendered useless! Obviously they had washed it, and apparently in hot water. Nice counter staff acknowledged mistake and assured me it would be made right, one way or another. Then horrid manager took over. He said the coverlet was "flawed" and already ruined (absolutely not the case) so they owed me nothing! If that had been the case, they should never have accepted the article or have noted any flaws upon drop-off. This place is evil, my worst ever experience with any proprietor. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS HERE Let me start by asking whether a reasonable person would assume that when you request your dress shirts to be "pressed", that it would INCLUDE pressing the sleeves? My 18 yr old son, preparing for a job interview, brought in several dress shirts to be pressed with light starch and two pairs of slacks to be hemmed. The total cost was $50. After picking up his items a week later, he got home and removed the clothing from the plastic garment bag. As soon as the shirts were removed, it was obvious that the sleeves of the one in front were not pressed (in fact, they were quite wrinkled). When we looked at the others from the bag, those also had wrinkled sleeves. I told my son that they must have overlooked the sleeves and that he needed to return to Busy Bees to have them rectify the oversight....So, today, my son takes the shirts in with his receipt and asks them to fix it. He was told that the sleeves were NOT INCLUDED in the original price and that if he wanted the sleeves pressed, it would be an additional $2 PER SHIRT. Not knowing what to do, my son paid the additional charge, which was $14 ($5 more than he makes an hour)! When my son called me from the parking lot, I asked him to go back in the store and request the manager get on the phone with me to clarify what my son was being told. I could not believe my ears when the manager advised me that my son was correct, Busy Bees does NOT INCLUDE SLEEVES when you get your shirts pressed and that it is an additional charge. I told him that this was the most absurd business practice I've ever heard. I promptly demanded they return the shirts to my son and refund the $14. We will NEVER use this business again. read more

I accidentally washed some lipstick in with a load of laundry. I applied stain remover and washed again, and there was no difference. I thought it was hopeless but I took my wet clothes (i didn't want to dry and set the stain even worse) to Busy Bee's and they got out the hundreds if not thousands of stains of lipstick. The price has gradually increased. I was told that the price was raised for dry cleaning by $1.20 to $3.99 because of the increase in minimum wages. DO NOT use this dry cleaners unless you want your clothes ruined or potentially lost. 1) I took a Jos A Banks dress shirt to be laundered with light starch. The shirt was in pristine condition when I dropped it off. When I picked it up, I noticed several tan colored stains stretching from the upper left chest to the lower left chest. The employee at the counter admitted that it could have been caused during the cleaning process. The shirt was processed a second time; however, the stained remained. The manager of the dry cleaners named "Dusty" took absolutely no ownership or responsibility in the damage. His explanation was that "some stains don't become visible until cleaning agents are applied to the shirt." He told me to "Google" it-WOW! "Dusty" was adamant that there was nothing on their premises that could have created the stain and offered no compensation or remedy. Keep in mind, this is contrary to what the employee told me (that it could've been caused during the cleaning process). Lastly, I questioned "Dusty" if this was the first complaint of its kind. He replied, "Oh no, we get complaints like this all the time, but it's never our fault." 2) I took two relatively new suits to be dry cleaned (navy blue and gray). When I went to collect them the next day, they attempted to hand me some clothing that didn't belong to me (my suits were not included). When I told the employee that the clothing wasn't mine, she reported it to their manager "Dusty" (yes...him again). I informed him that the clothing they wanted to give me wasn't mine and that my suits were missing. I was offended at his initial response (he questioned my veracity). He said that he would have to review the surveillance video of me allegedly dropping off two suits. After reviewing their video, he admitted to the mistake and said he would call me when the suits were found. At least this had a somewhat positive ending as the suits were found, but how did this happen in the first place. Recommendation to ownership/management: A) Admit your mistakes and reimburse customers for your errors. Instead of reimbursing someone for a $45 damage shirt, you are going to lose hundreds/thousands of dollars in potential business when customers read these reviews. B) Find a new manager. Your current one, "Dusty", has absolutely no personality or customer satisfaction skills. He is also going to hurt your business with his poor attitude. read more

We had a horrible experience with them. We used to take several items to them on a weekly/bi-weekly basis until they WASHED a custom-made suit, when obviously it was supposed to be dry cleaned. For my first visit I took in four sport coats and five dress slacks. One sport coat came back looking like they dragged it down Route 2. Three others were okay. All slacks were poorly pressed with double creases and pressed in wrinkles where none had been before. Manager's explanation: what did you expect for $1.99? I am done with this place. They opened less than 3 years ago and their prices go up every 4-6 months! They have gone from 99 cents per garment to now at $3.99 a garment! Yes, it is still less expensive than most cleaners but I am willing to pay more to have the peace of mind that my garments will consistently come back to me cleaned and not damaged! I've had several item returned with "stains" on them. I've questioned myself trying to think how I missed that. But now after reading all the reviews, it very well could have been them "staining" my garment! Also, their "out by 6 p.m." policy is not always accurate. STILL IN SHOCK!! I dropped my new comforter off to be dry cleaned. They request payment up front, which is not typical in my experience. It took two weeks to be cleaned , which I thought was rather long. When I brought the comforter home and laid it on my bed, there was a bright blue stain all over it. It looked like a detergent stain. I brought the comforter right back to the store and asked them to fix it and refund the 26 dollars they had charged me. They manager came out and long story short...told me (in a store full of people) that I was lying and that the comforter came in with the blue stain. He refused to refund me or pass this along to another manager. He told me the owner "would not get involved in STUPID matters like this". I was upset that none of the other employees intervened. I am 8 months pregnant and started crying. I told him his customer service was horrible and the stain needs to be fixed or the comforter needs to be replaced. His response was "have a nice day" and he walked away. When I told my boyfriend the situation, he went down 20 minutes later to get the comforter back so we could just take it somewhere else with better service. The manager again, accused me of lying and told my boyfriend I threatened him. He then refused to give the comforter back bc they had already put chemicals on it. Fast forward to the next day, we were called that the comforter was ready for pick up. My bf opened the bag in the store to make sure the stain was gone. Not only was the blue stain still there, the comforter had been slashed in half!!!! the same rude manager said he could not authorize any rectification or refund. We have left messages with other employees to please have the owner contact us so we can tell him the story and get the comforter replaced. Do not use this cleaner and if you do.....don't expect good care or customer service.....and definitely do not interact with the manager, DUSTY. read more

I took a jacket in to be dry cleaned and it came back with holes down both sleeves where it had been pressed. I brought it back the next day and "Jason" said it looked old (I bought it last year) but he would check the cameras to do his due diligence. The next day he called and said that it came in and left the store in perfect condition and it appeared that someone had taken scissors and cut the sleeve (OK so yesterday it looked old and now it looks like a scissor cut???). I was then accused of putting HIM in an "awkward position" for bringing the jacket back to him. I've since read several negative reviews on the Better Business Bureau site. I wish I had done MY due diligence in researching them prior to bringing my clothing to them to be cleaned. Horrible business with atrocious customer service and an incredibly rude manager....not a good combination. read more
