On April 3, 2026, I received a brand new dress from Amazon that I purchased for an upcoming event. The dress was red, black, and white, and still had the original tags attached. Because it arrived tightly packaged and wrinkled, I took it to the ZIPS Dry Cleaners on Saint Barnabas Road simply to have it cleaned and pressed before wearing it for the first time. When I picked up my clothing order, I did not immediately realize that the belt to my dress was missing. Unfortunately, I discovered this while getting dressed to attend an event, therefore I was unable to return to the store right away. During my next visit to ZIPS, I brought the issue to the attention of the manager. To her credit, she initially appeared concerned. She searched for the belt personally, reviewed camera footage, and informed me that she had seen the belt on the footage but would have to look at the various cameras to try to trace it, but believed it may have accidentally been picked up by another store that also processes garments through their location. She assured me she would call me back with an update. That call never came. When I returned again to pick up the order I had dropped off when I initially spoke to her, I followed up with the manager myself. Once again, I was told that she had not yet heard back from the other stores but promised she would contact me. Again, there was no follow-up communication whatsoever. Yesterday, while dropping off another load of clothes, I asked about the status of my belt yet again. This time, the manager admitted that it appeared my belt had likely been given to another customer. The solution offered to me for losing part of my brand new dress was a $15 credit on my ZIPS account. The issue is not simply about the monetary value. The dress cost me $40.99 plus shipping and handling, was brand new, and is essentially unwearable without the matching belt. I cannot return it to Amazon after this amount of time and claim it arrived incomplete because it did not. ZIPS lost part of my garment through negligence. What has made this experience even more upsetting is the complete lack of accountability, urgency, professionalism, and communication throughout the process. I had to repeatedly initiate every follow-up conversation myself. No one ever proactively contacted me despite multiple promises to do so. Before leaving the store yesterday, I requested the corporate office information because I felt this matter deserved escalation. I was told the information was listed on the receipt. However, as someone who works in technology, I could clearly see that the email provided was simply the local store email with the store number parsed within the email address, not actual corporate contact information. I purchased a home in this area a little over a year ago and truly hoped I had found a reliable, affordable dry cleaner that I could continue supporting long term. Instead, this experience has left me deeply disappointed and honestly concerned about trusting ZIPS with higher-value garments in the future. If a simple missing belt is handled with this level of indifference and poor communication, it raises serious concerns about how customer property is valued and protected overall. This entire experience has been frustrating, disheartening, and unacceptable. I hope that corporate sees my review and reach out to me. If I would have seen that bad communication and losing or destroying things were a trend of this location (per the reviews I just read) I would have NEVER trusted them. read more

Horrible experience!! I brought my formal gown to get altered inches around the chest and waist. That is the only service I requested! My gown was beautiful pink with 3D rose petals all over it. When I returned to pick up my dress I could see an employee taking my dress trying to press on the rose petals. When I looked at the floor all of the rose petals from my dress were on the floor!! I demanded a manager immediately, Jamie Chavis is the local store manager. I told Jamie I only brought my formal gown to me altered. I never asked for steaming or anything else!! Jamie said when the employee put my dress in the steamer the petals just fell off. I was infuriated!! I needed my dress for a wedding this coming weekend! Why was my dress EVER put in the steamer?! I only brought it to the tailor for simple alterations. You all should ONLY do the service the paying customer is requesting. I need to speak with someone at corporate immediately, and I deserve to be fully compensated for my damaged dress!! Absolutely unacceptable service. Terrible customer service. Jamie, the employee who ruined my gown, and the first cashier all totally disregarded and took no accountability for their actions. If I had not arrived early to pick up my gown, I never would have been told about the damages. They would have let me walk out of that store and all of my petals fall right back off!! This cleaners gets your clothes AND your money. They do not do a terribly good job at either. I went there 4 times to test the quality and consistency of the place. First visit, I put in 2 dresses, 2 khaki pants, and 2 shirts. By the way, the line was out the door. On this visit (~8:30 am) it was partially due to people not being able to read the huge yellow sign above the cash registers that says "cash pre-payment due when clothes are dropped off." No fewer than 3 people had to interrupt their visit with a trip to the in-house Zips ATM. Get it together, people. I was given the wrong change (nine cents short). I guess they want to clean my pockets out in more ways than 1. Second visit. I picked up the previous order and put in a suit and another shirt to be laundered. Some of the items I picked up came out great. Some I realized that this was "one of __THOSE__ kinds of cleaners." The kind where you have to do a bit of ironing on your own right before you wear the garment. Oh, ok. (see photos) This time, I paid using exact change. And the line was still out the door. Third visit, I picked up the suit etc. and put in two pairs of dress pants. This time, I paid using exact change. And the line was still out the door. These garments are just not ironed well at ALL. This non-ironing issue really came to a head when I picked up my dress pants on my fourth and final visit to this zips. Each pants leg had a huge wrinkle ironed into it at the hem. (see photo) Ooooh that makes me so mad. I mean inadequate ironing is one thing. But incorrect ironing or the ironing-in of wrinkles just rankles my shafters. I was sort of in a hurry and did not return to the counter to speak to the manager/part-owner (he got my clothes). Plus he was too busy making idle conversation with me ("...I couldn't have no desk job. Noo not me. I couldn't sit there all day and have people tell me what to do all day...") Can I give 0 stars? Received bad service and horrible attitude by "Alexis" because I complained about the bad service...Picked up my dry cleaning and noticed that two of suits were really wrinkled. Alexis told me that she would have the pants to one of the suits pressed on the spot. I continued to look through my things and found that a second suit jacket was severely wrinkled. I asked for that to be pressed as well. At this point she was visibly upset and told me in a nasty tone that I would have to come back on Monday to have that done and that she had the pants done as a favor. I asks her why she had an attitude with me and she stated because she was hot and irritated. I told the young lady that she was supposed to conduct herself as a professional even under pressure. She smacked her teeth and walked away from me. Another employee took over. And I asked for the manager. I was told that the manager wasn't in. Her attitude was dismissive so I requested to get all of my items back(I was leaving some there for repair) and asked for a refund because all services are prepaid. name is Lycia Wilson On Monday I arrived at Zips in Temple Hills MD and I needed two alterations done. The cashier measured me and when she did the pants were to fit as sized. I then paid her $20 and she said they would be ready Saturday at 5pm. I was very anxious to get my slacks for work and so I arrived Saturday to pick them up. When I got them home I immediately noticed how short they were altered as soon as I took them off the hangers. I soon after called zips and asked to speak to the manager whom I was told wasn't there. I would like to be refunded the money I spent for the alterations and also the price of the work pants I can no longer wear one pair being 29.99 and the other 39.99. My other jean jacket has rhinestones and they cracked every last rhinestone. But never cleaned the fabric. The juice spill is still on it. SMH. My blazer had a underarm stain that they said they would treat but don't look like they touched it. I put some SHOUT on in and cleaned it by hand myself. I feel like I want my money back. I have been going to this zips for several years. They always take excellent care of my clothes. I usually bring them 30-40 dress shirts once a month. They have never lost or damaged any if my items. Highly recommend this location for is excellent customer service or super fast turnaround!! Tip: Get there before 9am. Look for Kevin A. He will take good care of you. He is the best!! I stopped by this establishment yesterday evening, to pick up my mother's comfortor; the supervisor told me that it wasn't in their system, and that it had been picked up already, which was a lie. I showed her my ticket, to hopefully stop the arrogant attitude that I was being given; the staff looked all over for the comforter, and began asking me what it looked like. Long story short, the comforter was sitting on a shelf, with a paper note attacheded, that said no ticket; therefore anyone off the street could have claimed my mothers expensive comforter, because of this establishments negligence; this is the second time, I have had to deal with the ghetto unprofessionalism, of this specific supervisor/manager; they mess up your order, then talk to you, as if you did something wrong; if you were being professional, and not negligent, there would be nothing for me to question you about! I brought a bunch cloths to this dry cleaner. ..shirts, suits, pants. Some were dry cleaned and some were laundered. When I picked them up, buttons were missing from my shirts and pants, clothes shrunk and a lot of my stuff was wrinkled. I brought the shirts back to get the wrinkles out but they said it was the best they could do. Time passed and a couple months later I needed one of the suits. I looked and it wasn't there. Matter of fact, all of the tops to my suits were missing. I went thru my receipts and realized it was put on a second receipt and I never picked it up. I went to the dry cleaners to get them and they said that they only hold clothes for 30 days. I asked them why they didn't call and the guy responded that its not thier responsibility. I went in to pick up some dresses that I had cleaned months ago. When I pulled up, there was a line out the door, and the line was slow moving. When I entered the place, I noticed that the place had numerous workers, but they were busy. There was ladies working on the dry cleaning, two cashiers, and about two people pulling the clothes. It was three degrees from Hell hot in the place, so I was more than ready to get my dresses and leave. The gentleman called me to the counter, and the young man was texting AND trying to help me. I am not sure what customer service means to the workers at Zips, but if I put down my phone to speak with you, then please stop texting. After about five minutes, my dresses were located, and I was out the door. Although my dresses were dry cleaned properly and I adore other Zips locations, this one falls short (very short) in swiftness and customer service. Since it is close to my job, I will probably utilize them from my dry cleaning needs. In the meantime, I am going to try some of the other cleaners in the area. I put my sister's slightly used uniforms in the cleaners for the start of summer school session and when I went to pick them up they had: 1. ironed a crease in her skirt that was not previously there and not apart of the pleat design 2. the shirts were dirty 3. her polo shirts were snagged 4. one had a whole in the back from where the cleaners tag had been placed When I complained that the clothes were dirty and damaged the manager told me that the owner or district manager would have to look at them before they were replaced or before my money was returned and "honestly the district manager may not be in for weeks or months, he doesn't come in often" He was pleasant but was truly no help. He offered to re clean the items and re iron the skirt. I accepted his offer. When I went to pick them up the second time they were still dirty! I have only received excellent customer service especially from the morning staff and Kenny in particular. I could choose to take my clothes anywhere. Okay, so I am glad that is not only me that thinks this cleaners is the worst or had a bad experience here. I went there a few weeks ago to have 5 items cleaned and pressed. OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing was cleaned. In fact, they had a smell. I had them reclean them and when I picked up my items, they were still dingy and felt damp. I was already over this place so i took my items and went home. I have told others to no waste your time and money by coming here. The prices are good, but you get what you pay for. If I could give a negative star rating, I would. I brought in a dress for a formal event. Someone from the cleaning staff decided to place it on a conveyor belt and let a white lace styled dress dragged across the floor. Needless to say, this damaged the bottom of the dress. This was not pointed out by the staff but I noticed that the brand new dress was bunched up at the bottom and was dirty when I came to pick it up. I was informed that they could attempt to repair it but I needed it to be a particular length. I was told by the manager on duty that I would receive a call from Ms. Jaici Downs after two separate visits in reference to the disposition of my dress. I never received a phone call. I went there today to try on the dress and to see if they can attempt fix it and keep the length that I need. To my surprise, it was already in alterations without even consulting me. WOW!!! I'm totally disgusted. It took everything for me to keep my composure besides I was in my military uniform. I will never come back to this location again. I don't want a phone call nor an apology. I have had a waist band ripped off a pair pants, lost a dress for 3 months that was in for the repair service they were starting, rudeness at the front counter and now, put in a load, when I picked up a shirt not cleaned at all that I returned ("you have discoloration") so, you took my money, didn't try to refund it and said shirt had been cleaned there before. By far the worst dry cleaners I have ever used. Not even sure why they're even still in business. I called and was told to "hold on for a second". That second turned into 9 minutes. Not to mention the fact that this person did not even put the call on hold, just simply put the phone down on the counter allowing me to hear everything in the background. Put a suit in for cleaning. Took the time to point out and mark the suit with the spots that needed attention while cleaning with the front desk representative. Went back to pick up the suit and the suit still had all of the same spots on it... but they said they cleaned it... waste of time and poor ass customer service. Over a month ago I brought a black blouse to this location to have it cleaned not only have they had to re-clean ot three times due to residue left by there cleaning agents but the evntually lost it.
