$2,500 Snowmobile Tour…read more My son and I did a snowmobile tour with Tyroparc and some friends in January, 2023. We have riden snowmobiles before so I was looking forward to it. The first half hour or so was fine. When we got to a short but steep hill our instructor stopped the tour and told us to go over the hill slowly and not use the brakes on the way down the hill as it can throw the passenger (in this case, my teenage son) off the snowmobile. This was not the first time I've ever driven a snowmobile, so I wasn't expecting any issues. When we went over the hill, we found ourselves headed towards a group of small trees. I tried to turn the snowmobile away from the tree while at the same time not using the brake. I wasn't able to negotiate the turn and we crashed directly into the tree. My son and I were both thrown off the snowmobile. My son was okay, thank goodness, but the impact to the tree left me dazed. I sustained a minor concussion and a strained wrist, as I had put my arm up to block my son from the tree. The snowmobile was totaled, as you can see from the photos. When the guide started up the snowmobile, there was a loud explosion in the engine. Despite my dazed mental state, I was told to drive this dangerous vehicle with my son on the back for several minutes. The instructor said he asked me if I was OK to drive it and apparently I said yes, but I was in no condition to make such a decision. It could have caught fire or who knows what else. When I got back to my hotel, and told my wife what had happened, she asked how we got the snowmobile back to the headquarters, and I couldn't remember. To literally add insult to injury, I had to pay $2,500 for the damage because I signed a waiver saying that I am responsible for all damages incurred. While I do accept some responsibility, my son and I were treated in a very reckless manner by the instructor. He was a nice guy but it was very alarming to my friends and son that I was in no condition to be driving immediately after a heavy impact of a snowmobile into a tree, which threw my son and I off the vehicle. I spoke with several managers from Tyroparc in the weeks after to see if we could come to some sort of compromise about the $2,500 owed, but it had already been billed to my credit card and as far as they were concerned, I was in another country hundreds of miles away, and it was case closed. I understand that most people don't crash into a tree and you probably won't either. But it's also important to know that Tyroparc's instruction before the crash and the assistance after the crash were both in my experience, negligent at best and dangerous at worst. Happy holidays!

I had a fantastic time every day I came here, it wasn't busy as its end of summer so right up my alley. On the side of the beach there's more privacy and less people that's where we hung out for the days we were there. The beach is rocky but not all parts it's not bad enough that you need water shoes so don't worry. For kids at 4 pm there's story time which seems to be a big hit! Friendly staff at the booth I had a young man named William who rented us a 2 person kayak which I've never been in before I loved it ! The lake is so pure so fresh and just really relaxing.

So we decided we were gonna do the…read moreboat trip and you can either pick a canoe or kayak double or single we did the canoe and packed up for a day on the water with snacks and drinks and of course our towel because there was so many places to stop off and have lunch and swim. The water was low so the river was a little more intense in the sense that you could get stuck in between the rapids. We had so many spots to Jump out and enjoy and got a great tan. 5-7 hours and 23 Kms down a beautiful river or you can do the 3 hour class for 12 km. You go at your own pace as long as you make the bus bringing you back than you're fine just keep your eye on the time. Last bus is at 4 pm not that it's very long bus ride back (15 minutes) but walking it wouldn't be fun. Helpful tip canoe is for 2 you can put 3 but it's designed for two people. Kayak is easier and you can paddle board but you need good balance.

We loved every second of our time spent with the staff (and dogs!) at Expedition Wolf. Besides getting to play in the snow with dogs for a couples hours, the staff is so wonderful, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly.. and that makes all the difference! My husband is not easily impressed, but I could not (and still cant!) get him to stop raving about how much fun he had doing this. It's about a 20-30 min drive from the hotels around the Pedestrian Village (we stayed at the Fairmont), but fear not by fellow yelpers, they will pick you up at your hotel and drive you round trip, complimentary! Taking a camera is a MUST, however they have a photographer who snaps lots of photos and takes some video as well, and before you leave will put together a DVD for you to purchase so you can have all of the pictures videos taken of you.. they literally take the time to separate each individual or couple and sort through the pictures, so that your disc has pictures of you, and not total strangers on it. So nice! They also offer you some yummy snacks afterwards to hold you over until you return to your hotel- things like hot soup, cookies, lemonade, etc. One thing I will suggest is that you use the bathroom before you leave your hotel, because while they do offer one, they only offer ONE. The entire process is so memorable. You are able to help harness up the dogs, and while this part can be a little hard (not recommended for the little ones), it's cool to learn the dogs' names, ages, backgrounds, and help out! The dogs are SUPER excited when you start.. I mean, it's like 250 kids on Christmas morning all opening presents at the same time, kind of excited.. it's so cool! They obviously love what they do! Basically, I could go on and on and on and on about this, because there arent enough good things to say, so I'll just leave you with this- PLEASE, if you find yourself in Mont-tremblant, do this! You will not regret it, I assure you!

A couple of weeks ago, there was a power outage in the area during our entire stay, and while the lovely women who arrange the food and act as concierges tried to do what they could, the owner was completely MIA for the whole weekend. Unreachable to anyone. There was only one generator on the property for the cafe/dining area, which my boyfriend was able to get started. We, along with 4 other couples, had no lights in our cabins, no Wifi, no use of their famous Nordic hot tub, nor any coffee for the whole weekend. Now one could say this was a fancy camping experience gone awry, and that "these things happen," but not at $340 a night. With power outages being common in Quebec, you would think that a "luxury retreat" would be better prepared but no; they are too cheap to have more than one generator around. No maintenance person to help out over such a weekend, or to even replace our torn screen door -- which let in all the aggressive mosquitoes. I have never had to write a review like this, but I emailed the owner (twice) to discuss these grievances and he never replied, let alone reach out to his guests and offer some kind of acknowledgment, apology or any form of compensation for our weekend so being compromised. They are indeed money-driven. $5 for an extra towel in the bathroom. $50 fee for early arrival and $50 for late departure. Exorbitant food prices. And as I've pointed out, zero accountability to the guests, even in the case of what could be qualified as a bonafide emergency. An amateur and cynical way to run a business. Beware.

I did not expect to find something like Farouche - Tremblant. This review could be titled "A…read moreComedy of Errors." I also thought it would be appropriate to put up on the first day of spring. It was a Sunday last fall and I was headed to the village at the base of Mont-Tremblant. I did not expect there to be so many people and that parking would be difficult ... and that it would be expensive. It looked like I needed to amend my plans. I kept driving east into the national park, where the entrance fee is acceptable, and would later worry about where I would eat. As I drove a little ways east of Mont-Tremblant, I saw that there was a casino and that it, too, had quite a few cars in its parking lots. I don't like casinos, so I wasn't thinking of eating at one, even if they had a buffet, especially since I don't like the idea of there being a casino at or near Mont-Tremblant. Right before driving into the national park, there was a small cluster of buildings that looked "new." There were some parked cars in the parking lot. It looked like there might be food. I went into the national park and then returned to this location upon exiting the park. I had found Farouche. Inside, I found a bistro, a bar and counter, and a small area with some groceries and supplies. I was given a very friendly greeting by the proprietors. (They even told me that my French was good.) I asked about what they had to eat. They had several things to choose from, so I sat down. Note that there are tall windows all around, so this brought the surrounding mountain scenery into the modern, woodsy space. Given that I would be eating again later, I had squash soup, a chocolate chip cookie, and hot tea. The squash was sourced at their own farm that is in close proximity to Farouche's bistro-store. It was the best squash soup I have ever had! It was served with tasty bread that had olives in it. The chocolate chip cookie was good and, with the small teapot, I was able to make a few cups of tea. This is what I call comfort food! They also had other things, with a nearby table having ordered a charcuterie board and wine. They, too, were taking in the beautiful autumnal mountain setting. Farouche also has a unique type of "hebergement" (that would be lodging to Anglophones). This lodging is offered in these strongly vertical A-shaped cabins, which may be actually called something else. Be it the hebergement or the bistro-store, they have that look that is a fusion of Nordic and "recycled '70s," the latter of which has been coming back into style, albeit updated for the 2010s and looking less hippie-dippy in the process. Farouche has been featured in the local and professional press for its avant-garde and interesting lodging facilities in tune with their natural surroundings. They also have options for "plein air." I believe that, in French, this means "the (great) outdoors." That would imply that they can supply and you can rent things with which to recreate. You would have to look into that and their lodging arrangements. I stopped by to get something to eat. I have been leading into a 4 star rating all along. Yes, I found Farouche to be a 4 star experience. And, for how natural and organic everything is, I could even attempt to be funny and come up with 4 makeshift French words to support this: "Un petit peu granole" Farouche is immediately before the Parc National de Mont-Tremblant's Lac-Superieur entrance. There is a small parking lot in which there will undoubtedly be a place for your Subaru. In this area, one could actually justify owning one.
