I had an appointment scheduled with them today that I made weeks ago and they didn't show up. So tired of companies like this!

What a joke! I made an appointment with this company for a quote. That appointment was yesterday at 12:30. Around 12:10 I have a missed call that I call back. The guy answers "hello." And I'm like "I have a missed call from you?" He's like "oh yeah I'm gonna be late" I say no problem to come by any time that day. He then asks me for the square footage of my yard. If I knew the square footage of my yard why would I need someone to come quote? The whole call was so unprofessional. And then he never showed up, never emailed me the quote In response to the reply: I apologize if you did actually come, I didn't see anyone and I never got a quote so that's why I thought no one showed up. Also, the appointment was Wednesday. I still don't have an email quote and all the other landscapers wrote up the quote right away. Last, but not least, this guy called me and started yelling at me for this review. After I hung up on him he left me a voicemail threatening legal action lol. I obviously wasn't recommending this place before, but definitely not now. read more

I have went back-and-forth regarding writing this review... but it is now time. Zac (the person who owns the company of ZLM Services) did his best... but I am in the unfortunate position to say that Zac's mindset is simply not one that will add value to anyone who hires his company. I used Zac and ZLM services for several years. We had many conversations over email (which are preserved and can be presented as evidence, if necessary), and while i always rooted for Zac to be able to make his company to be something special, I also always felt Zac had a chip on his shoulder... especially as he would constantly refer to "rich people" and discuss class warfare and why (in his opinion) he wasn't making enough money. Zlm had been recommended by a neighbor so we gave them a call , initially they seemed to be an awesome value. They came out, went over everything with us, when it came time to do the work they failed to complete a huge portion of the yard, then claimed it wasn't part of the quote, which it was, we walked the entire yard together, they then completed it after many back and forths. The biggest issue was when they sent someone to my home to collect money, claiming they spoke to my fiancé about getting a check, couldn't get ahold of him so I gave them the check just to find out they did not speak to him and it wasn't discussed at all. That was super shady. Not even 2 months later we had chipping and cracking in our concrete and we're told numerous times someone would come to look at it. Well, it's been 2 years and no one has ever come. Do not recommend. Beware. read more

Used ZLM in 2016. They done a great job trimming shrubs, beach work, weeding. etc. Now spring of 2017, had them come out for spring cleanup, Was given a lower price than last year because not much had to be done, Two men spent a whole day on the job,till dark, I was charged twice the estimated price, The next day when I could check out the work, I found that none of shrubs along the property line where trimmed, weeds growing in the landscape, etc. I' not at all happy with the service. read more

I paid a ridiculous amount of money for ZLM to fix my standing water issue in my backyard. They didn't fix the problem and I have 4 inches of water in my backyard any time it rains. When questioned about it, they stated that the solution that THEY came up with wasn't the correct one, then sent me a quote for $14k to come back out to try and fix it again. Save your money and find another company that follows through with their promises. read more

ZLM snow removing services were unreliable and unprofessional. I had 2 accounts, they sent invoice but failed to remove the snow, called about the last now removal, they failed to do the sidewalk. Apparently, they don't like honest feedback about their quality. ZLM cancelled snow removal half way through winter to my 93year old mother and 94-year-old uncle. Richard M. Roseville, Mi. I hired ZLM Services of Shelby Twp. Mi. last August to redo my driveway, took out the old and put in the new. 4 months later 2 slabs of my new driveway were cracked from side to side. As of the beginning of May of 2017, I have 2 more big cracks right down the middle in 2 separate slabs in my backyard. I paid $6000.00 cash for my new driveway, I've been in contact with Zach & Justin, several times dating back to December of 2016. Then several times this year, they responded and setup appointments and NEVER SHOWED! This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable! I would rate them a ZERO if I could, however I cannot write a review unless I give them at least a 1 star. read more

Many online company performance reviews seem one sided, ranging from this company is the best to this company is the worst. This ZLM review is a little of both- reviewing some specifics of ZLM doing concrete, sprinkler, and downspout diversion on our property. I don't have expertise to know if their concrete work performance is good, or not, but they seemed to know what they were doing, seemed to work together as a crew, and the final product looks good- I guess time will tell how it holds up but I wouldn't expect issues. If you have sprinklers, be fully prepared to have them replaced, or realigned, if they are in the line of fire of ZLM's heavy equipment. Their equipment will destroy your sprinkler heads without losing a beat. ZLM's initial estimate clearly states they are not responsible for damage to irrigation systems. They do repair, for an additional cost, damage they cause to irrigation systems but repaired damage to my system at no cost to me which seemed to be a good gesture toward customer satisfaction, or perhaps they felt guilty at the amount of damage, who knows, but their effort in that regard was appreciated. But HOW THEY REPAIRED system was terrible and would give us good reason to avoid ZLM doing any future irrigation work. Their attention to detail in setting and positioning the sprinkler heads was beyond amateur, totally unprofessional- there were, among other issues, pop up heads not set perpendicular to the horizon and set at different elevation levels. Their work in this regard seemed like it was wham-bam thank you mam. Was it because they repaired it for free. Some online reviews cite ZLM's poor communication responses and we concur. We received an email from the owner indicating several items would be completed the very next day. The next day came and went and no one showed up, no work was done, and not one single contact from a crew member, or owner, indicating no one would be on-site for the day- waited all day for nothing. Pay close attention to fences, or gates, etc., or narrow openings, that may be near crowded concrete work areas as ZLM's heavy equipment trashed my gate area. Who did what is not clear, so take pictures for before and after comparison. ZLM did attempt a cost-saving effort to fix the fence on their own, and with what they had to work with, did a reasonable job, but the gate is nowhere near its original condition and probably won't hold up for long. ZLM blamed the fence company for original poor installation workmanship as being a contributing factor in some of the current gate issues after it was reassembled by ZLM- totally unreasonable in our book, and seemed like an excuse, as the fence was installed by experts and we were happy with its look and performance for over 6 years. We asked ZLM if we could set aside $200.00 from final payment so we can have the original fence people back to fix it, even stating we would refund any part of that $200.00 back to ZLM if not needed. ZLM wanted no part of that discussion and left the impression of customer distrust. We believe if a company cannot afford to set aside $200.00 from a 14 thousand dollar project to find the most appropriate fix to damage we didn't ask for, should send up the red flags quickly, and it did. I've spoken to the fence company and they are scheduled to come out and have a look and when I told them ZLM claimed their workmanship was a contributing factor to the gate's current condition they just smiled. So, in our opinion, review conclusions are: concrete work seemed good but time will tell, have irrigation work done by other companies as ZLM's attention to detail is poor, at least in respect to repairing, be real clear how damage issues will be resolved by ZLM, before and after pictures of all areas subject to ZLM heavy equipment access, don't assume their emails, or other communication efforts, will go as planned. No review on downspout diversion at this time. A personal observation, if ZLM spent as much time with attention to on-site performance details as they do with their attention to beautifully detailed pamphlets, invoice sheets, and other optics, they may confront fewer issues. Difficult giving more than 2 stars. Thank you. read more

It was a wonderful Friday night, I was at home, with my little boy, when I noticed 2 men bringing tools into our backyard, and leaving them there, and I was a little perplexed, you see, we were scheduled to get one final quote on getting sod for our new build, and they hadn't shown up yet, and then I noticed the men staring into our windows as they left tools in my backyard. Naturally, I went to our front door, and saw the name of the company ZLM Services, and immediately called to mention that equipment had been left in our yard, and I simply didn't want work to be started on the wrong yard. Upon speaking to Zach, I was informed that the empty lot to our left still owned by the builder was one that they were allowed to leave their equipment in, and I said that was fine, but ours, was not one to have material left in(his crew had already left) or to be used. You see, at the time, even though we were waiting on one final quote, we had pretty much had our minds made up on who was going to get our sod installed, and, to be honest, ZLM offered to quote the job as well. I let him know that we received a great deal from a competitor, but thanked him for the offer, and I am happy we didn't let ZLM quote us any services. About a week prior to our neighbor having their yard worked on, we noticed bricks were delivered, and left on our yard, being we live in a newer community, my husband and I assumed that the bricks may have been for a new build, when in fact they were for our neighbor, who hired ZLM to do the work. Then they start installing the sod, and we notice more trash in our yard, again, fine, the wind blows, we don't have grass yet, it didn't matter, we still weren't really upset, until one day we came home and noticed that our front yard, back yard and drive way were used to get to our neighbors yard to have work done. Such a disappointment, considering the lot behind our neighbors was still open, and at some points in the day was used by ZLM, this, I witnessed on many occasions. My guess is the excuse that we were given about not having an another entry wasn't thought through so well. Still, as upset as we were that our yard was used, and now we had gaping holes, with work that was coming out to be done the following week, we figured, we'd call and let ZLM know, and just ask them to fix it, so we can finally have our yard. BIG MISTAKE!!! We called, I spoke with Zach, we've texted and he even said they'd come out and fix it, and nothing. I've since sent him texts, and so has my husband to get this resolved and NOTHING. I'm assuming that because we weren't the ones who paid them to do the work, we weren't going to get it fixed, and unfortunately, all that did was leave a sour taste in our mouths. So now, here we sit, after waiting to get our sod put in, thinking it was going to be done sooner, rather than later, and we have no resolution, no response nothing, and now face a larger bill if the company that we hired, can't do the work without things being fixed. Very very unprofessional. They have a contract to remove snow in a subdivision and the work they do is horrible. They do not salt and will leave snow all over the place. The plow drivers drive like they just got their license...damaging garage doors, hitting parked cars, destroying lawns. Asked them 3 times to not block in the dumpsters yet they keep piling the snow right in front. 10/10 do not recommend to hire for snow removal. read more

We (Wife and I) have used ZLM twice, once in Spring of 2016 to demo our backyard (remove pool, deck, dirt hills, rocks/boulders, and small stone walkways), and again in Spring of 2017 to install all new landscaping in the back yard (dirt, sod, mulch and decorative trim). In both cases the consultation, pricing, service date, and service has exceeded both of our expectations. In both instances the in-person consultation happen within less than 48 our of the initial phone call, and Zach was easily accessible with any questions we had after the consultation. In 2016 the pricing was on par with other companies, but chose ZLM based on a recommendation from a co-worker who used their services. In 2017 we never bothered getting competitive quotes, as we just wanted to stick with a proven company that we both were comfortable with. The service date was within a week of the consultation and though in 2017 we were delayed two weeks due to abnormally heavy rains, Zach still seen too it that he had a crew out in the 11th hour working into the dark on the evening of a event the following day. The service crew are amazing bunch of guys, very professional, and overall polite (never been called Sir so much, lol). When they arrived they wanted me to walk them through what my expectations were they followed the foreman and myself so they all can hear and ask any clarifying questions, this I really appreciated as it showed they all had an interest in making sure the final outcome would meet my expectation. After the walk thru they went right to work, each taking a section of the yard as an organized team, and turned a nightmare of a yard into a beautiful postcard scene. We had only one blunder in 2017 as one of the crew did hit our new privacy fence with their machine and it was in need of repair. The wife called Zach to discuss the issue and without hesitation the cost of the repair was deducted from the overall price. Look I get it, where human, mistakes/blunders can happen, so neither the wife or I were upset at the crew, but we were especially happy when Zach didn't give us an issue to cover the cost. Overall we are extremely happy with the service we have received with ZLM, and we look forward to using them again next year for our front yard needs (the next project!!!!). read more

I live in a condo complex that awarded these guys a snow removal and landscaping contract. They started by placing snow sticks at the front of the complex. By the time they got to the back, I guess they ran out. Despite having these sticks, they failed to plow parking pads and sidewalks. I don't think the stick placers and the plowers had any communication. After the 3rd snowfall, I went out and pointed out that there was a 2 car parking pad they had never plowed after the first two snow falls. I also informed them that there was a sidewalk (used by everyone in my building to take the garbage out) that had never been shoveled (despite snow sticks). How about storing their Kuboto plow on the lawn for 5 months. When they did pick it up on one occasion with a flat bed truck, they ran all over the grass area. They would show up at 3 AM and have powwows under my bedroom window. On several occasions, sidewalks were not plowed until a day after the snowfall. I am not looking forward to their landscaping "skills" this summer. read more
