Casablanca Guest House is one of those places. As D and I relaxed in the pool, we mused about how we should probably try to book our next stay before they become too popular for us to get back. The property is gorgeous. It's one of the few hotels that somehow manages to look as good, if not better, than the photos online portray. The location is beautiful, and perfectly quiet except for the waves crashing against the shore. A short walk down a dirt path into town, it's the best combination of quiet and remote yet with the convenience of being near all of the restaurants. The rooms are lovely, and perfectly kept. Each one with an ocean view. The added bonus is of course that we could drink straight from the tap and had a full kitchen so we could save a bit on meals. And the pool... I can't imagine anything more relaxing than going for a walk and then cooling off in the gorgeous salt water pool, staring out at the ocean. Kelly and Sherry are incredible hosts. The resort is very well maintained and offers a lot of activities, such as archery and water aerobics, if that's your thing. The air conditioning and wifi work great in the rooms. The French restaurant is by far the best among its Italian, Mexican and Asian competition. A nice escape from the typical tourist traps of Cabo and Cancun. About a 20 minute drive to/from the airport. Inquire about shuttle services offered by the resort to avoid a long line for a taxi upon landing.

This place is the genuine article. Real authentic Mexico through and through. Puerto Escondido, unlike many Mexican beach towns, has forbade the construction of the sprawling resorts; the monstrosities that have ruined the Yucatán peninsula and Costa Rica. They have passed Federal preservation laws to protect its shoreline and quaint village roots. This was one of two hotels I stayed in and I will post a review of the other shortly. If you want to relax and immerse yourself in the México of 40 years ago, give this gem a try.

You can't really walk around you have to take taxis everywhere. It's also the hotel with the fabulous Espadin restaurant so that is a big plus. The breakfast & coffee with the views here can't be beat. The only downside to this hotel IMO is the pool is way too small for moi. Will Return.
