One of my favorite things in this world is finding secret gems before they become popular, and then…read morehaving the opportunity to roll my eyes and deep sigh when months later people start raving about the place I already knew about. Casablanca Guest House is one of those places. As D and I relaxed in the pool, we mused about how we should probably try to book our next stay before they become too popular for us to get back. The property is gorgeous. It's one of the few hotels that somehow manages to look as good, if not better, than the photos online portray. The location is beautiful, and perfectly quiet except for the waves crashing against the shore. A short walk down a dirt path into town, it's the best combination of quiet and remote yet with the convenience of being near all of the restaurants. The rooms are lovely, and perfectly kept. Each one with an ocean view. The added bonus is of course that we could drink straight from the tap and had a full kitchen so we could save a bit on meals. And the pool... I can't imagine anything more relaxing than going for a walk and then cooling off in the gorgeous salt water pool, staring out at the ocean. Kelly and Sherry are incredible hosts. They truly made us feel welcome at their property and were beyond gracious. Absolutely worth the trip!

Here is an oasis on the edge of a magical beach town. Close enough to easily walk to the wide variety of cuisines available in Zipolite, yet just slightly off the beaten path enough to be oh so tranquil. The best of both worlds, with A/C, equipped kitchens, drinkable filtered water from the tap, full size fridge, ample storage, plentiful electrical outlets and hot water (if you think you need it) in every room. We were booked to return, before we left. Did I mention the hosts? Kelly & Sherry are super knowledgeable of the area and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and as relaxing and/or busy as you would like it to be. I tried to make it 6 stars but...

Out of all the restaurants, 3 are very good. Starting at No.1 is Tamarind. Excellent Oaxacan (Mexican) food, excellent vibe, beautiful decor and feels welcoming. No.2 Castaways. Beautiful ocean view, food is good (seafood) and the staff is friendly. No.3 Spice; food is good, teppanyaki is great, staff is very friendly and is fun. The beach is amazing, almost a virgin spot, the sand is a little rough but is such an amazing place. Room service is very good, I highly recommend it. The Spa, Jesus Christ, what an amazing experience, you can't miss it. The best massages I've had. Believe me, it's one of a kind. Down side of this place, some of the restaurants are straight out bad. Cin Cin (Italian) was just awful. Worst Italian food I've had in my life. Marketplace (at lunch time) was also pretty bad. I have to say, this place for breakfast is pretty good. All and all, is a great place I would definitely come back, having in mind what places are good and what are bad.

The resort is very well maintained and offers a lot of activities, such as archery and water aerobics, if that's your thing. The air conditioning and wifi work great in the rooms. The French restaurant is by far the best among its Italian, Mexican and Asian competition. A nice escape from the typical tourist traps of Cabo and Cancun. About a 20 minute drive to/from the airport. Inquire about shuttle services offered by the resort to avoid a long line for a taxi upon landing.
