Not knowing her at all, and only communicating briefly over messenger, it was definitely hard to leave our boy with a complete stranger. For context, we do not have kids, aside from him. Mowgli was reactive, protective, and dominant. We would never take him anywhere that we would encounter other dogs as he was very unpredictable. December 22nd, we dropped him off to her. She recommended a MINIMUM of 2 weeks, but after further discussion we ended up deciding to leave him with her until we were back from vacation, which would be a total of 5 weeks. Our first impression of Shala was a little intimidating, and she was very to the point, but she did warn us of this. (Only reason for mentioning this is I really hope this does not deter others from her, because once we got to know her, she is truly kind heated person!) She was very good about keeping us posted on Facebook with updated pictures, and letting us know how progress was going. She was very responsive, and helped put our minds at ease when we would have our doubts, and asking ourselves if we were doing the right thing. On January 27th, Shala came to our place, to drop off our dog, and to go over what types of changes would need to be made at home in order to maintain these new behaviours. She spent half a day with us showing us what he was doing, why he was doing it, how to correct it, when to give praise and so on. We ran into other dogs on the walk, and she showed us, in person, our once reactive dog interacting with others without any issue. Today I walk though little mountain, hoping to see people and dogs. Mowgli is so much more comfortable in his now skin, and his demeanor is way more relaxed. I will still message Shala for advice and she is quick to respond and help. We will without a doubt be sending our dog back out to Shala when ever we need boarding, day care, or even just for a day to get some socializing. I cannot say enough good things about her. She is stern and direct, but she has a big heart and is EXTREMELY knowledgable. Thank you so much Shala.

I asked what happened and was shrugged off with a message saying that she was looking after 30 dogs and didn't have time to message, after he was found i returned that afternoon to pick him in at which time there was no apology the conversation was 15 minutes of me being told how our lack of training and treating our dog like a child instead of an animal was the issue. I returned the following weeks on a casual basis, I take my dog away with me on work contracts and advised the owner of this through the summer. We returned in July for a drop off, and my dog again "ran away". I asked why this keeps happening, and was advised "lack of consistency". At this point I was very upset. My dog was had multiple walkers and had gone to daycare before without any issue. I would be extremely careful bringing your family members here, unfortunately she's the only one in the area available, which is why i believe she is busy. There was never any accountability for not watching my dog closely enough to not lose him, twice. I recently messaged back again feeling stuck about having no other options and was advised after bringing our dog here for months, that we could be added back to the waiting list if we wanted services. At no point was there a discussion about us being dropped as clients. Absolutely awful customer service and interaction.

I have observed this owner while he was 'one on one' at his business outside with a smaller breed dog get abusive by pulling on it's leash so hard that the dog was lifted from the ground. This continued several times as I observed from my vehicle. This continued until I could not stand to watch any further.I am a owner of a large breed canine and have for most of my life.I am skilled and educated in the training processes and what I had observed was abuse. It should be noted that this owner has an abusive and unacceptable method of dog training as part of his repertoire from what I observed. Having also observed this owner of this business and his aggressive and dangerous driving habits speeding and cutting in an out of traffic now realize, not only is the owner of this business a liability to to health and safety of animals brought here, but also to the safety of Kamloops motorists. I continue to be disgusted that an individual of such a self absorbed ego remains to continue doing what he does.

We were only informed at pick up that she had vomitted (not at the time it happened). After a day of not recovering at home, we took her to the vet where she was diagnosed w kennel cough. I get that this is a risk in boarding facilities, but that no one bothered to notice her obvious decline in health over only 5 days and no one bothered to notify me is a severe lack in care. I called them a few days after vet exam, left a message to contact me and no one bothered to. Would NEVER recommend and would NEVER go back.

To begin I called months before and discussed boarding my dogs and decided to bring them in for doggie daycare several times before leaving for our trip. The reason I chose this kennel is because they have the home program and I didn't want my dogs to stay in a kennel for 16 days. I was assured that they would stay in Maureen's house not the kennel. They both went to daycare twice and seemed ok with their stays, so on the day we were leaving we dropped our two dogs, their leashes, food and beds. I texted Maureen who assured me a couple of days later that they were doing just fine and Lisa sent us pictures again telling us at day 6 that they were good. On the day we picked them up we were handed their beds in pieces with the covers ripped off and in pieces, the bedding was filthy, their leashes could not be found and when I express my concern at this Maureen indicated that perhaps I should not have boarded them for so long...as if it were my fault somehow. She then mentioned that they had a very nice kennel. I was stunned. I didn't mention anything as I was so upset. We specifically paid for the home program so they would not be stressed in a kennel. I texted Maureen later that night expressing my concern. She said because my dog had just finished her cycle (she is spayed by removing her uterus but her ovaries are intact) she was upsetting the male dogs so she kennelled her with her sister. Never was that mentioned in any communication while we were texting during their stay. I expressed my concern to which Maureen replied back that it was because my dog was so smelly and sleezy. Seriously? Sleezy? I was stunned by that text. The aftermath of a nearly 2k stay was hotspots on my puppy from chewing her tail so much from a nervous reaction post kennel stay and permanent damage of her vocal cords which our vet felt was due to excessive strain likely caused by ongoing barking, which is likely as she has never been in a cage for 16 days straight. This kennel was the simply the worst experience we have had with a kennel and I would ask anyone that loves your pet to reconsider before you bring your pet here

Spoke to Australian man, so I'm assuming is the owner operator of this business. I just wanted to…read moreinquire about dogs socialization programs, if he offered them and how much it cost. Basic simple questions. He asked and I explained to him a few of minor behaviours that my dog was having and what I was looking for and hoping to gain from integration classes. At this point he strangely and unexpectedly went into Attack Mode. He started telling me that I didn't know what I was doing with my dog and that because of her breed she may never change. He accused me of not knowing anything about her breed. We actually I have two dogs of this breed and have done tons of research and purposely seeked out a 2nd dog of this breed. He stated that I should take her to school grounds to let her run around because not all dogs are going to get along and some of them will just never fit in. He also stated that because of my dog's breed there may be no hope for her. This is a well-known fact with any dog professional, or anyone that knows anything about dogs, to not be true. She's not at all miss behaved dog, she's actually very well trained so I'm not sure why he went off on that tangent. When I told him that you can get fined for having dogs in school grounds he became even more condescending and rude and stated....as long as you pick up your poop etcetera. NOT TRUE. He blathered on saying "people like me" call him to get free advice and was accusing me of this. Even though that's not at all what I was calling about but I wasn't able to get a word in edgewise. I was inquiring about putting my dog in an integration class. We have two dogs both very well behaved and trained but because we both work we wanted the younger one to go into a dog daycare of sorts where she can get more integration. he was very rude and condescending and he talked down to me the entire time, he didn't LISTEN to anything I said, he heard what he wanted to hear. Complete turn off. Not the kind of person you want to deal with when you're inquiring about amenities for your pets. Maybe he was having a bad day I don't know, but to lump all dog owners into a category and treat them in this way is completely inappropriate. I would strongly suggest against using this business, there are plenty of other dog facilities with more open minded kind people.
