I firmly believe that ZogSports is the best social sports company in the Washington, D.C. area. While I have now played with a few different local social sports leagues over the past few years, I have found Zog to be the most enjoyable, professional, and fulfilling by far. Zog provides an excellent lineup of sports options all year long that can be enjoyed by players of any skill level. The facilities where the sports are played are consistently well maintained and easily accessible via Metro. The bars that Zog partners with for receptions after the games are also always close to the sports facilities, and provide a very fun atmosphere for socializing with teammates and opponents alike after the games. I have made quite a few new friends and reconnected with old ones while playing with Zog, and I have always found fellow "Zoggers" to be a great mix of friendly people worth getting to know. Zog's employees have also always been kind and extremely accommodating. Referees are welcoming, engaged, and the most fair that I have encountered. Similarly, organizers are always very receptive to requests when it comes to organizing teams and making sure you are with a team that you feel comfortable on, or to any other needs for that matter. However, what I like best of all about ZogSports is the fact that, win or lose, you are playing for a great cause! Each team picks a charity at the start of the season, and in the end, the winning team's charity gets a donation made up of the entrance fees for the league. I can't say enough how great it feels to know that your money isn't simply being spent on having a fun time, but also that it goes to a good cause each and every season. I've played in leagues run by Zog's competitors where opposing teams are often arrogant and rude, where referees are busier looking at their cell phones than a pitch, and where employees at partnering bars have had lacking service and even demeaned fellow female teammates for no reason at all. All of those reasons would be enough for me to recommend Zog above any of the other social sports leagues I've played with in the D.C. area. But playing for charity in an already well organized league with a great atmosphere and clientele? Now that's just a slam dunk! read more

I've been playing in Zogsports for almost 4 years now and have been a referee for almost 3 years and I'm still playing! I have played 3v3, 5v5 basketball and flag football each of the leagues have been good. Some key things I like about Zog as a player and referee: The Competition - They offer something different types of players and have a good balance of casual and competitive players. The Fields/Courts - The 5v5 courts on Sundays is a real good court and certain fields for football are great and close to a metro. The people - Everyone that I have met have been just great, from the players to Kendra and Casey to the other referees, they keep the games fun and friendly. Kendra/Casey - organized, professional, and very friendly people. They always are on top of their game. Cool Shirts - The shirts we get for playing are cool (on pace to get every color) From being a referee: Professionalism - Kendra does a great job keeping the referees prepared for the games and keeping us up to date with any changes to the games. Also, very easy to talk to if there are any issues with the fields or concerns from players. Playing for a cause - At the end of the day you are playing for a charity of your team's choosing so it makes the games feel more important and it's a good feeling when you are able to win for your charity. read more

I initially joined ZogSports as an individual on a "spur of the moment" thing to get out, play some football, and see more of DC on the weekends. It sounds corny, but I could not have imagined how glad I would be to have joined. I have met some great people - teammates, "opponents", and even officials - through Zog; on the field, at the happy hours and mid-/post-season parties. Now I look forward to each upcoming activity for the mix of competition and comradery. A majority of my trips into DC are Zog related, and with how the sports leagues are expanding each season I do not see that changing. The multiple levels of competition allow for everyone to have a good time, rather than traditional pick-up games which can become dominated by the few who are more competitive and athletic than the others. It also allows members to expand into other sports outside their comfort zone - in my case volleyball. Plus doing good for charity without having to make an extended individual effort, through part of your signup fees and a percentage of the money spent at happy hours and parties, makes you feel good - even on the days your team may not have done as well as the other one. read more

I have never left a review via Yelp but was appalled at the lack of accuracy surrounding the ratings for ZogSports. I sorted their reviews by date, however, and noticed that no one has left reviews reflective of 2019 so I decided I'd share a few areas to note should you consider signing up for a season. Aside from being exponentially more expensive, our season has been shorter and more disorganized than any rec league I've ever joined in the past. In the short 5 or 6 week period, we've been left of schedules, rescheduled on days that we didn't sign up for and then cancelled and rescheduled again - all of which were again, on days of the week we could not play. Aside from this, the games never started on time as a result of the ref being late (not us) and when the ref did (finally) arrive, she comically stared at her phone the entire time and asked that we keep score. I can't fathom how this is the standard for these rec leagues here in DC - even more saddening is that never once has someone called me to see what happened and/or learn more how to fix these insanely elementary and rudimentary issues which are simply a matter of personal accountability. read more

Zog Sports in DC is an awesome organization! I've played Sand Volleyball with Zog and ref multiple Volleyball leagues. I can't tell you how much I love being part of the Zog community. Here is my short list on why people should sign up for a Zog league: 1) The competition is driven by charity. I don't know of any other social league that donates money to the players' charity of choice. It makes playing much more meaningful. 2) You don't have to ref your own game. I've played for other social leagues where you'd have to ref your own game. If you are paying to play, then you should be playing. Zog get's that. That's why there is always an attentive ref facilitating the games. 3) The facilitates are worth playing in. All the gyms I ref and play in are well facilitated gyms. I've played for other social leagues with broken nets and too small of courts. Zog doesn't play in places like that. 4) Best for last! The staff is amazing! They are extremely attentive and keep everyone well-informed. As a player, you will get up to date information. The staff is always available to answer your questions. What are you waiting for? A friend of mine was reffing for Zog last summer and pulled me and one of my college teammates into the summer soccer league--what an awesome decision. The group of random people that we started with last June is now my "team" in every sense of the word--we're in our third season together, we celebrate each others birthdays, support each other in life events (Weddings! band performances! birthdays! housewarmings!), and of course go to happy hour every week! Zog is an AMAZING community to be a part of--I really could not have imagined the great friendships and connections I've made in this league. It's not just people on my team, it really is people across the league, including the staff. Almost everyone on my soccer team has joined at least one other league--I just finished my third season of touch football, including two trips to NYC to play in their summer and winter classic tournaments. After playing in other leagues in DC, I can say that the product Zog sells is way different and way better than other leagues. Zog is a great place to meet people, play sports, and be social. I have been a part of Zogsports for about 4 years as a player and referee and I still enjoy my time participating in Zog. I have played basketball and football. Some highlights of Zog are: Competition - The level of competition has something for everyone which actually makes the games fun. From the casual player to the players that have experience, majority of the players are out there is have fun. The Fields/Courts - The fields for flag football are good fields, usually turf fields throughout DC. The courts for basketball are good courts as well. In addition, they are throughout DC so Metro is an easy way to get the games. Kendra/Casey - Both of them are great people to be running Zog. They are always professional, kind, friendly, and nice people in general. The People - Everyone that I have met through Zog are great people, Most of the people participating are out there having fun and the referees as well. Cool Shirts - The shirts we get for playing are nice (going for each color). Playing for a cause - At the end of it all playing for a charity makes the games are exciting. read more

I started playing dodge ball with Zog with a few old friends as a way to stay connected. There were a few players who signed up individually who randomly got paired with our team and ended up becoming some of my (and other team members') best friends to this day! The league was very well organized and Casey and Kendra were always quick to respond to updates, alerts, and questions. Later on, I signed up for a soccer league with some coworkers and met so many great people in the league. We joined a competitive league and every team was extremely challenging and had proper sportsmanship. The league was concluded with a bar party at buffalo billiards for all teams with discounts and tons of drinking games. My team won the league so we had the pleasure of donating the winnings to our charity of choice. Everyone involved had an amazing experience that exceeded our expectations. I recommend Zog to anyone who is looking to stay active and open to meeting new people! read more

As someone who participated in college intramural's, Zog has definitely been the answer on how to continue to participate in fun and competitive sports. What sets them apart from other social sports leagues in the area though, is their ability to offer a wide array of sport and competition level offerings. Having originally joined Zog as just a basketball player 3 years ago, the great experience I have had with their leagues led me to become a flag football player and referee as well. As a referee for multiple sports now, I can certainly say whether your looking for the high level game to keep your competitive juices flowing, or the laid back social exercise, zog can offer the right fit. In addition, similar to myself, most of the zog staff including the league managers Kendra and Casey, are active players in one or more of the league sports. This only adds to a great social sports environment since the staff is directly invested in the player experience. read more

Having moved to D.C. in November, ZogSports DC has made a lasting impact on my experience in D.C. I am entering my third season playing flag football and I have had some of the best experiences overall since my short time in the city. The people that I have met have not only become recurring teammates, but amazing friends as well. Since beginning flag football, our team has taken trips to local sporting events, happy hours and even a tubing trip to Harpers Ferry. These leagues are super organized, fun, and a great way to meet new people. I have played in some other USS leagues and they do not compare to the ZogSports leagues. I have been so impressed with Zogsports that I am actually enrolling in Zogsports softball this season and plan to encourage a couple of my friends to join. If you are looking for some exercise, team camaraderie, and a great place to make new friends, I would definitely recommend ZogSports! read more

Compared to other recreational and competitive sports leagues that I've tried after living in DC for 4 years, Zog clearly takes the cake. I played volleyball here this past winter and it was leaps and bounds better than previous indoor leagues I've played in. The games always started on time. The nets were set up quickly. The refs were definitely more knowledgable than my past experiences and the facilities where the games were held were really nice!!! Also getting on a team with my friends wasn't a problem at all and the management granted our request with no hassle whatsoever (some leagues I've played in prior really make a big stink about this). Registration online is very quick and easy. I'm already signed up for next season of indoor volleyball and am vey excited to explore some of their outdoor sports when the weather gets nicer this summer!! ZOG is awesome!!!! read more

I moved to DC from Chicago where you can pretty much play any sport you want on any night at any level. Unfortunately, I found the DC area sports leagues a bit lacking until I found Zog. I started with volleyball and have added football, softball and soccer to my Zog sports repertoire. Not only have I found some good competition, I have met alot of great people. The end of season parties (and now midseason parties) combined with the after game happy hours make ZogSports a great way to have fun, meet awesome people, and stay active. I also like how the league is open to suggestions and is constantly trying new things to make the games and after hour activities fun. Oh, and you get a big check to donate to a charity when you win the league. Like literally a big check, happy gilmore style. What more could you want? read more

ZOGSPORTS IS AWESOME!!! I've been in a couple of other recreational leagues and none of them are as well run or have been as much fun ZogSports. I'm currently playing softball and flag football; my experience in both leagues has been top notch. You get a mix of casual and competitive players, but everyone is there to have a good time. Leagues aren't expensive and you get a free t-shirt with every team you join. It's a really good opportunity to meet new people and it gives you something to look forward to on weeknights/weekends. Kendra and Casey are great organizers, keeping the league and all its moving parts running smoothly. They're both really friendly and will do anything they can to address any issue that you have. If you are on the fence about joining a rec league, I FULLY recommend ZogSports! read more

ZogSports DC is awesome - I moved here without really knowing anyone so I'm grateful for the ability to meet people through the league. Casey ran my basketball league and when I dislocated my shoulder early in the season - (I was participating in a local dunk contest unrelated to Zog), she checked in with me and offered to use my league payment for another league when my shoulder heals. Kendra also checked in with me to make sure my shoulder was okay. Both of them always were introducing to other players in the league that I should know (that work in my office building i.e.). The two refs (forget their names) I had were pretty great too - friendly, knowledgeable, etc. Definitely will play in another league once my shoulder heals (as well as regain my title as dunk champion of northwest DC). read more

I have been playing in ZogSports for 2 years now and highly recommend to anyone looking to play sports and meet new people. I have played Soccer at Eastern High School for a few seasons and the competition is great. There is a competitive and casual division which allows for everyone to play. The field is really nice and there are free pitchers at the bar afterwards, which is always a fun perk! The referees are very friendly, professional and know the game. I've also played Indoor Volleyball and Football here and there and have experienced the same type of quality. Nice gyms/fields, great referees (even went to the bar afterwards with a couple of them), and well organized. I've met some of my best friends in the city playing through ZogSports and I plan on playing again this Winter! read more

ZogSports DC is an awesome, well run, and fun organization. When I first moved to DC I was looking to earn some extra cash and came across a listing for refereeing with Zog. I have played and refereed volleyball for many organizations over the year, and Zogsports is definitely the best! Kendra and Casey are always friendly, responsive, and helpful, and the players are awesome. Not to be a hater, but I've been around a lot of the other leagues in the DC area and none of them 1) are as welcoming as Zogs 2) are as well organized 3) do good for the world (I mean you play for charity!!) and 4) care as much about the players. Basically, if you're looking for a sports league to join in the DC area, with friends or as a way to meet new people, ZogSports is by far the best choice. read more

A few months ago, I had never heard of ZogSports, but after joining I am so sad I did not know of them sooner! Kendra and Casey create an incredibly welcoming, helpful, and caring environment, while the field team members (referees) are always prepared, knowledgable, and fair! ZogSports DC is a fantastic way to meet new people, have fun, and break away from your weekly routines! Zog Sports DC is great! Great people, awesome environment, happy hours are always great and the parties?.... Even better! I have been playing for more than a year now in their flag football league. I started playing as an individual and now have played with the same team for multiple seasons. I've met a ton of people, made some great friends and really enjoy playing in the league! ZogSports is organized and has good competition levels. I highly recommend to anyone looking to play flag football! Zog sports DC is as good as it gets when it comes to social sports leagues. Each league is ran smoothly and their is a wide variety of sports you may participate in. Kendra, Casey, and Sean are the best league managers around and take their leagues very seriously. The professionalism that is associated with each league is amazing. Anytime you have questions or concerns the league managers are there to help any way they can. Whether you are new to the DMV or not I would strongly suggest Zog Sports DC if you are looking for a way to stay active and grow socially. It's not only a great way to stay active and meet people, but you are also playing for charity. Which makes Zog all the more better of a social sports league to play in. read more
