I was visiting friends in Nyack and wanted to bring something special instead of the usual bottle of wine or grocery store dessert. This turned out to be exactly the right place. The display case was filled with beautiful French pastries, fortunately, they tasted every bit as good as they looked. What really stood out was seeing so many locals hanging out enjoying coffee and fresh pastries. That's always a good sign that you've found an authentic neighborhood gem rather than just a place catering to visitors. BB

They had some interesting looking thick quiches, things like croissants, cakes, tarts and macarons (the girl behind the counter corrected my friend by saying "macaroon" which is technically incorrect). I'm a sucker for a good bread pudding but i should have reconsidered since that was the thing they seemed to have plenty of. They didn't heat that or the pear Tartlett up; eating them both cold was unsatisfactory (I know we should have said something but then a line was forming) and I felt sick after eating the bread pudding (perhaps too rich and just too cold and sad). I didn't feel very comfortable in the space, as I was expecting something more quaint and charming vs. old and in need of a makeover and cleaning. This was one experience so I would give it another shot, maybe earlier in the day. Metered street parking or there's a municipal lot around the corner.

I unfortunately don't get down here nearly as often as I'd like, but I definitely help 'empty' their challah racks when I'm in the area! You grab a large brown paper bag, walk through the place and fill it with freshly made bagels and breads, and then pay what seems like some arbitrary low number they come up with while at checkout! When I was growing up, we'd go in here at 4-5 a.m. when returning from the city and purchase even 'fresher' bagels and breads if that's even imaginable! How you can still get this close to production and touch and take yourself is beyond me, but I don't care! I LOVE this place! Long live Rockland Bakery for never changing! FYI, Don't leave without ordering a few sweets from the bakery side! Again, you won't believe what you're paying for what you're getting!

The smell alone makes you want to buy everything in sight. Their service is also good some staffs are helpful and gives you information of bread, pastry you want to know! Their sourdough bread is a standout, crispy golden crust on the outside with a soft, chewy center and just the right amount of tangy flavor. It tastes incredibly fresh and pairs perfectly with butter, soups, sandwiches, or even on its own. I always get one when I stop by here! The variety, freshness, and unique bakery experience keep me coming back. Rockland Bakery is a must-visit spot in Rockland County.

I was charged $5.50 Here is the breakdown $3.00 for the croissant and $2.50 for less than 1 oz of the cream cheese;( Custom item). Lets just say the employees here could be described as anything but intelligent. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and stood back and waited. Within a minute or 2 another customer orders 2 breakfast sandwiches very similar to my order yet different. The 2 sandwiches come to the counter and they call over the customer who came after me with the similar order. I thought to myself ..."Wow that's odd, we order almost the same thing and I ordered before him and yet his is ready first even though his order involved additional steps during preparation" I try to get their attention to ensure he is not being given my order since I was there and ordered before him but I am ignored. The next 2 sandwiches come out and I question them if they're the ones on the specific bagel I asked for and I'm looked at like I have 2 heads. I opened the foil and of course they're wrong, so I tell them but they turned their backs and went back to working. Tips for this place: 1) Don't go here, this is not the same place it was 20 years ago. (They should change their name) 2) Monitor other peoples orders in order to receive the right food because the employees clearly do not.

The next time I went back I informed them of the mistake and they didn't make it right. They could care less. Again, not the end of the world but it's the point of the matter. I quickly scurried from my car to the warmth of Gino's...opps maybe not. It wasn't much warmer inside. There was quite a line inside, which I took as a good sign - it wasn't. It's simply a representation that there doesn't seem to be much of a system, just a lot of people running around, seemingly working hard but not efficiently...and for all of their running around, even they're freezing too. Everyone working there was bundled up. After waiting close to 5 minutes someone took my order - a buttered bagel. That's it. You'd think the person taking the order would simply butter it and I'd be on my wait. Nope, it got handed off for someone else to do it - after they finish the orders they're already working on. 7 minutes pass, still waiting on a buttered bagel. They place is quite busy so my frustration is rivaled with my expectation that they must have some amazing bagels - why else would this many people be putting up with such crappy services. At this point I'm almost 15 minutes in. It's been such a waste of time that I figure adding home fries will make me feel like it was worth while. NOPE. I'm starving, so I dig as soon as I get in my car. The bagel is nothing special and the home fries are lacking any kind of flavor. No pepper, no onions, nothing. And of all the insults (the long wait, the plain tasting food, the prices being way too high for what you get)...all of that in the mix, and the worst part - the fact that it was freaking FREEZING the whole time I wasn't my morning in there. Turn the damn heat on!!!! Have some respect for your customer and have some mercy on your workers.
