I hired this firm after an accident involving an uncooperative at-fault party with expired documentation. However, the representation so far has been incredibly passive. On June 9th, I received an email stating that the other insurance company was verifying coverage. A full week later, on June 16th, I received a text message giving me the exact same update--that the other insurance company is 'waiting on a statement.' It has been weeks of radio silence with no significant progress or actual strategy since. Meanwhile, I am stuck driving a damaged vehicle that is a safety hazard while the other insurance company drags this out. I didn't hire a prominent law firm to just have vague updates forwarded to me while driving an unsafe car. I expected proactive representation to force a liability decision and a property damage evaluation, but right now I feel completely pushed to the side. Throughout the process, Mr. Richards and his paralegal Mr. Arnold Marquez were able to provide the family member with timely answers to questions, especially since "online researches" (I don't get why people take whatever they see online as gospel) often generated contradicting advices and added to confusion. During several critical moments, the family member being represented was misled by "advices" from "friends". It was Arnold who provided timely clarification, explained one's rights, and eased the family member from a severe panic attack. Without them, I would've been overwhelmed and at a loss on how to ease the family member's ceaseless worries. Unfortunately, my experience with Montoya Law on my workers' compensation case was very…read moredisappointing. Initially, I felt confident based on the firm's marketing and the promises made during the intake process. However, after I signed the retainer agreement, communication became a significant issue. Emails, phone calls, and text messages often went unanswered, and I frequently had to follow up multiple times just to receive a response. As the injured worker, I was simply trying to stay informed and actively involved in my own case. I don't think anyone had a greater interest in achieving a favorable outcome than I did. Despite that, I often felt like my concerns were being dismissed rather than addressed. One conversation with attorney Ruben Montoya particularly stood out. After I had made several attempts to contact the office regarding concerns about my case, I finally received a call. During that conversation, I felt more criticized for trying to communicate than supported as a client. I was repeatedly told that "it's not instant soup" and that he was "not a magician." While I understand that legal matters take time, those comments left me feeling dismissed and unheard. I also experienced long delays in receiving medical treatment. At one point, I went more than six months without treatment related to my work injury. The doctor I was referred to was approximately an hour from my home, and appointments often involved waiting for extended periods before being seen. When I raised concerns about retaliation and other issues affecting my claim, I was told another attorney would contact me to discuss them, but that never happened. I also attempted to discuss adding additional injuries to my claim and did not receive meaningful follow-up. Throughout the case, I felt like I was constantly advocating for myself instead of having an attorney actively advocating for me. The firm's advertisements emphasize fighting for injured workers and making sure clients do not leave money on the table. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I did not feel supported, prioritized, or adequately represented during a very difficult period in my life. Ultimately, I lost confidence in the representation and made the decision to hire another law firm. This review reflects my personal experience.
